Chapter 2: Mercenaries in Disguise
STREETS OF MUSUTAFU, JAPAN
The sun is shining in the sky, and the streets are crowded with citizens.
Among them are Hank, Stanford, and Deimos, in actual casual clothes, and not blood stained merc outfits ...
"This place is huge ..." Stanford says, looking at the sky scrapers, scattered with glimmering windows and memorizing lights. Even though its not dark yet, the city is still beautiful.
"How much did we miss? Since when was the sky blue?" Deimos asks himself, with a cigarette in his mouth. "Look. That guy has four arms! And that girl has a tail!"
"Quirks. I did my research. Apparently, these powers started to appear around the world and almost everyone has one." Stanford replied. "Except for us ..."
"Does that means theres like superheros!?"
"Yes, actually ... Theres a ranking on the best Hero's online, like the best Hero in Japan is this guy called All Might."
"Thats a cool name. Whats his power? Ability to wear underwear on the outside of pants?" Deimos chuckles to himself, taking more puffs of his cigarette.
They keep walking down the streets, observing the civilians with noticeable Quirks.
"Fuck, this cool ..." Stanford whispers to himself.
"Oh, Oh! 10 o'clock!" Deinos says, staring at a beautiful muscular woman with a tail and scales. "Damn thats sexy!" He says, taking a huge puff of his cigarette.
Stanford slaps the back of his head.
"Stop being Horny ..."
"Ow! Fuck you!" Deimos yells flipping off Stanford.
Hank is walking quietly, admiring the view. Being in this new environment that is Japan is really beautiful. Way better the Nevada, that Awful Atomic Wasteland could go to Hell and all the people their who tired to kill him ... Not like their already there ...
Hank of course still wearing clothes that cover his mouth and body. His various scars are sure to
scare civilians, but thats just it.
In Japan, its kinda like Nevada, but better. There's still crime, murder, death but there's actually something being done about it. And the scenery is way better.
The busy streets, the Blue Sky, the Skyscrapers, the Patrolling Hero's, the Fire, the Str-
Wait, a Fire?
Smoke from a skyscraper catches Hank's eyes, as he watches in interest. Other citizens start to notice, as a big crowd starts to form around the large building.
Police arive soon later, putting up caution tape and keeping the crowd in control.
"Damn, would you look at that, some stupid Pyro done and set a building on fire ..." Stanford said looking up at the building.
"What do you think is gonna happen?"
"Don't know ..."
"I need more cigarettes ..." Deimos tosses the cigarette in his mouth on the floor and steps on it.
The Cops are trying to keep the people away from the caution tape, TV vans start to arive and film, people are filming on there phones.
"Everybody stay back! Heros will arive soon!" One of the Cops say through a megaphone to the giant crowd of people. The crowd starts to get even bigger and bigger, even causing traffic in the streets. People are recording and its starting to get chaotic.
Deimos looks up in the sky, putting another Cigarette in his mouth.
"Yeah, nobody's coming anytime soon ..."
"Hmmm ..." Deimos rubs his chin, and then gets a big smirk.
"Hey. You guys want to make a good first impression here?"
Stanford looks at Deimos, like he's crazy.
"You crazy? We're not Heros. Were Mercenaries."
"Come on! Lets be vigilantes! Together! As a group!"
"Vigilantism is Illegal."
"Since when were you so worried about doing something illegal?"
"Since were not in Nevada anymore. We came here for a break, not jail time."
"Come on, Stanford! Think about it, it'll be just like our Heists at the A.A.H.W. sites. Hank you agree with me, right?"
Hank looks at Deimos and nods, he always loved to kill, and since there out of Nevada, he needs a new hobby, so he thinks that being a Vigilante could work with him.
Deimos looks back at Stanford with a smug look.
"See~"
"Ugh ... Fuck it, Fine. Come on, Chuckle heads, we'll go through the back."
They all sneak there way around the building.
MEANWHILE IN THE SKY
"I see the fire, im on may way to engage." The Pro Hero, Hawks, says through his earbud, talking to Pro Hero, Backdraft.
"How many civilians, Hawks?" Asks Backdraft through the earbud.
"I see ... Four. On the Roof. I'll be there in about a minute."
"Alright, I'll be there in Five. Good luck."
"Thanks."
Hawks wings start to flap harder as he soars towards the building, now almost ingulft in flames.
As he gets towards the, he puts his wings above his head so they don't catch a flame.
He lands on the building, the fire all around him. Four civilians are atop the building.
"Look! Its Hawks, the Wing Hero!" says one of the Civilians.
"He's come to rescue us!" one of the other says.
"Is anyone hurt?" Hawks asks, quickly and efficiently scanning the situation.
Everyone shakes there head. As the fire inches closer, Hawks comes up with a plan.
"Okay, I can't carry all of you, so you need to stay put, I'm going to get you all one at a ti-"
Hawks is interrupted by the sound of metal clanking on something. He looks at the edge od the building as sees a grapple of some sort on the side, then another one laches on, and then another.
They all start to move, and the vauge sound of a moter is getting louder and louder. Sudden, three men pop there heads up from the ledge.
They climb on to the roof.
"Good thing we carry those retractable grapplers ..." Deimoa says with an unlit cigarette in his mouth.
Stanford and Hank brush themselves. Stanford looks up at Hawks, his Hook in hand.
"Damn ... We got company ..." Stanford says with his Hook raised slightly.
"Your a Hero. Right?" Deimos asks Hawks, puting his cigarette towards the out bursting fire, lighting it and putting it in his mouth.
"Yes I am. Who are you?" Hawks as, with a slightly confused yet cautious look. He grabs two frathers from his wings and they harden into two hand blades. Looks like he could fght the mercs if any wrong words are said.
"Woah, easy. We're Hero's ... just trying to help." Stanford replies, holding his Hook is his right hand. "You look like you can use some ..." Hes says and grins a little.
Hawks holsters his feather blades back into his wings, and grabs one of the civilians in his arms and spreads his wings wide, about to take off.
"You three get the rest, bring them to the police at the bottom of the building." Hawks says, before flapping his wings and descending from the building.
"You heard the Bird!" Deimos says grabbing a civilian in one of his arms, and attaches his grapple to the side of the of the building and rappels down.
Stanford grabs a civilian and holds them tight in his arms.
"Might want to close your eyes ..."
The civilian nods as they close their eyes, and Stanford jumps off the building, jabbing his Hook into the side of the building, using it to slowen his fall.
Hank then holds the last civilian in his arms.
"Hold on." He mutters in a deep metalic voice before running and jumping off the building at full force.
Hawks successfuly lands at the bottom, handing the civilian in his arms to the paramedics. The police still trying to calm the crowd down. He looks up and sees Hank.
"Woah."
Hank reaches the bottom, his steel toed boots collide with the concrete, leaving a crack and massive imprint in the sidewalk, but he's left basically uninjured. He hands the civilian in his arms to the paramedics.
Stanford reaches the bottom next, he plants his feet on the ground before yanking his Hook out of the building, sparks fly outward as he does. He looks at his Hook and sighs, as its left dull from the ride down. He hands the Civilian to the paramedics.
Deimos is the last to reach the bottom. Foot prints are left on the side of the building from his repel down. He slowly plants his feet on the ground as retracts the grapple to himself from a little motor. He hands the civilian to the paramedics.
Hawks admires the work of the three Heroes, he turns to thank them.
"Hey, thanks g-"
But they weren't there. Hawks shrugged it off and looked at the building, almost entirely engulfed in flames and black smoke. He thought he might have to evacuate the area before the building collapsed.
Soon, Backdraft arrives on the scene through the crowd. He slowly makes his way through the crowd.
"Everyone move out the way! Pro Hero coming through!" Backdraft says as he makes his way to the front of the building.
He makes his way to the front of the caution tape, hoping over it. He see's Hawks and pats his back.
"Good job, my friend." Backdraft says.
"No problem. I had some help." Hawks says. "Right now, you gotta go fix the fire problem."
Backdraft nods as he enters the building. He uses his quirk and uses the Hose Spigots he has on his hands to put out the fire. In just under a minute, the fire from the entire building has been extinguished.
Everyone in the crowd cheers as Backdraft walks out the building, covered in dust and soot.
He walks back up to Hawks, brushing off his Firefighter outfit.
"So, you said you had help?"
"Yeah. These three Heroes grappled onto the building and helped me bring the civies down. It was pretty cool. But, I've never seen them before ..."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I've never seen them in the system before. Like on patrol or anything."
As the two talk, everyone in the crowd also wonders.
Who were those three Heroes?
As the crowd dies down, Hawks and Backdraft walk down the side walk, still talking about those Mysterious Heroes.
"Red sunglasses, mask, and hood. No, I've never heard of them ..." Says Backdraft, walking down the street next to Hawks.
"The other one had black sunglasses and a Hook of some sort." Hawks replies, clearly deep into this topic.
"Like on his hand?"
"No, like an actual Hook. And the other had this Sunhat, and bandages on his head. And he was smoking ..."
"A Hero smoking on the job? Damn ..."
"What are you to knuckle heads talking about?" Pro Heroine, Mirko, asks. Interrupting the conversation and scaring Backdraft half to death. She laughs at his reaction.
"For a Pro Hero, you sure are startled scared easily!" She says, with a wide grin.
"Were talking about these Heroes I met earlier. There was just something ... off ... about them." Hawks replies, his wings stretching outwards.
"What do you mean off?" Asks Mirko, her grin fading away and turning into curiosity.
"I don't know ..." Hawks responds, with a curious tone.
