(Icefang looks at the wish maker, knowing what he was about to do. Sorrow filled his eyes.)

"I'm sorry..." he says, before flying upwards toward the millennium comet. Jirachi knew what he was doing. He was trying to take away her powers. She tries to chase after him, begging him to stop. "Please... don't do this..." she said, as she reached space, where the comet was.

Icefang didn't listen. He knew he would regret this, but he also knew there was no turning back now. "This isn't out of malicious intent... but it is was must be done... FORGIVE ME!!!"

He fired a blast of pure light at the comet...

...And it exploded.

Jirachi was devastated. She floated slowly down to the ground, watching as her third eye shook violently, before fading to black. The third eye shut tight. Jirachi tried to open it, but it was sealed shut. It faded into golden sparkles. She slumped down on the ground, crying softly.

Icefang floated down to the ground as well, sadness in his eyes.

Jirachi couldn't speak entire sentences. "W-why...?" was all she could let out, as tears spilled from her eyes.

Icefang got down on the ground, looking sorrowfully at the former wish maker, who curled her tarps up in fear, worried what he was going to do next.

"I'll explain... i'm not going to hurt you..." said Icefang, in a soft tone. "But... you already did... I'm... what is my purpose now...?" She whimpered, scared. "Why... why did you do this!?"

"Because... I care. For YOU." Jirachi was confused by this. "How could you possibly care for me...? You took my powers..."

"It's not your powers I need. It's YOU." Jirachi looked up, shocked by this. "Wh-what do you mean...?"

"I... needed a friend. It might sound selfish at first, stripping you of your powers just because I was lonely... but it's... much more serious. I... I'm... (sniff) the last of my kind." Icefang began tearing up as well, having uncomfortable flashbacks. "I watched my people all die. I'm... the only one left, all alone... i've been alone for five years... without you, don't have the will to go on..."

Jirachi felt bad, but she still couldn't take her mind off of what happened. "But... what am I...? What am I now...? My only purpose was to grant wishes... I'm-"

Icefang stopped her there. "You're NOT nothing. From my point of view, you were bound by a curse. Forced asleep for a thousand years, while only getting to spend 7 days being conscious. Awake. And... you can't even spend those days cherishing it... you're forced to hide, afraid of the selfish wishes that you might be forced to grant if found... People see you as a tool, Jirachi! I- (sniff) I don't see you as just that! You're... worth much more to me than a mere wishing star." Icefang's tears got heavier. "I- I don't want a lifetime of servitude for you, Jirachi-"

Jirachi suddenly understood. He's right. She had never had a proper friendship, aside from that kid Max. But he's long since deceased... as everyone she met was. And... she has been treated like a mere object. No one has ever seen her as anything more than that. She's been the center of attention for so long, but it was all for nothing. Maybe she WAS incomplete.

"I... I never thought of it that way." Icefang looked like he could burst into a waterfall of tears at any moment. "I- I'm just so lonely... you've been the only light in my life for so long... and I didn't want to let you continue suffering... watching you go as I would never see you again... I wasn't going to just stand there..!"

Now Jirachi felt guilty. This poor boy from another species, soon to be extinct, released her from the cycle she has been put into... because he didn't want to be alone.

"I..." Icefang began crying. He was breathing heavily, his heart pounding. Jirachi walked up to him slowly, and rested in his arms, hugging him. He looked down. "...!"

"It's okay. I'm here now. I promise." she said, trying to comfort the lonely boy. "You know... you did the right thing. I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding... you don't hate me for what i've been, do you?"

"N-no... but... I needed a friend- I haven't been cared for in years- I..." Icefang couldn't speak anymore. He could only cough out words, one by one. Jirachi hugged Icefang tight, rubbing his back with her eyes closed.

"Shhh..." she said, trying to calm him down. "I promise, you're not alone anymore. I'm here now, like you have wanted for so long. Is this what you needed? Is this what you've been missing... for so long? You know, when you took my powers, I felt a sense of loss too. Maybe... I was understanding how YOU felt when you were forced to watch your people die."

"(sniff) yeah..."

"You freed me and taught me a valuable lesson... and I love you for that. I would care for you the same way you've always cared for me, but... I need you to be strong... Icefang. If that's your name."

"It... is. (sniff) I haven't felt like this in 5 years... I had almost forgotten what love felt like-" He cried again.

"Shhh..." she said, wrapping the tarps on her back around them both like a blanket. It didn't cover them all the way, but it was enough to provide a sense of warmth.

Icefang felt protected. Her warmth felt like it was providing a shield from hate and sadness. He didn't want to let go.

"I promise... I'll always be here for you. Deep breaths... let it all out. I'm here for you."

Icefang shivered while he was breathing, but he inhaled as much as he could. Eventually, after draining every tear he had, he'd fallen asleep. He was tired from all of that stress.

Jirachi adjusted her position, so that she remained in his arms. She was warm and fuzzy. The ribbons on her back felt like a sylveon's. Her skin was smooth and velvety to the touch. Her chest rose and fell as she slept in his arms. She promised to give Icefang the love he has been missing for so long.. No matter what happens, she wouldn't let anything get into him. It was the least she could do.
