Ch 5
As soon as the Mantis landed on the desert planet of Jedha, Cal and BD were immediately fired at by a squad of four stormtroopers.
"Jedi!" one of them said. "Let's take him down!" said another.
Cal deflected the blaster bolts back at the troopers and they all dropped dead while he zipped to a platform with his grapple hook.
Then he was surrounded by lots of beetles but Cal ignited his second saber and spun around, slashing all the beetles in half with two spins.
The next platform had two flame troopers and a squad of four scout troopers, two normal stormtroopers, and one rocket launcher trooper.
Cal struck down one of the flame troopers and Force pushed the other flame trooper into a wall.
He caught fire and Cal struck him down before striking down the two normal stormtroopers.
Cal then Force pushed rocket from the rocket launcher trooper into all of the scout troopers which instantly took them out while he struck down the rocket launcher trooper and moved on.
Cal went into a chamber where he was blocked by more stormtroopers on a ledge but Merrin came with a green Magick staff which she used to whack down the troopers before they entered the desert and were blocked by a giant Skriton.
The Skriton tried to stab Cal and Merrin with its claws but they dodged and struck back. Then the Skriton tried to whack them with its tail and lunge at them as well as use its other attacks. Cal and Merrin dodged the tail sweeps, lunges, and claw attacks while slashing and striking back and eventually the Skriton went down.
"Good work." Cal said. "You too." Merrin replied.
Then Cal and Merrin had some trouble with a sandstorm and five stormtroopers and two scout troopers blocked them.
After the troopers were struck down, an AT-ST walker arrived and fired its twin laser cannons.
The walker fired its lasers, dropped electric bombs, and fired rockets but Cal deflected the lasers and Force-pushed the electric bombs and rockets back into the walker before he grappled ontop of it and pulled out the pilot. Then Cal jumped off just in time while the walker fell and crashed.
Cal, BD, and Merrin then went to a cave to rest and they had a moment together and Merrin asked what they did after the team split up.
"Same as always." Cal said. "Fighting the Empire, helping where we can. Not staying in one place too long. I think we might have found something special. A place where the Empire can't find us. But, it would mean leaving the fight, and...the fight is all I know."
"Cal. Look into the fire." Merrin used her Magick fire to ignite the fireplace.
Green flames crackled in the air.
"It will warm you. Keep you company on dark, lonesome nights yes? But left unchecked, it will consume everything in its path...until there is only ash. But on a cold night like tonight, a warm fire is perfect. And the company is not so bad either."
"I missed you, Merrin."
"And I you. I had to leave, Cal. To see the galaxy on my own terms."
"What'd you find?"
"Myself. Reflected in all the people and places I encountered. Dathomir will always be my home but it does need to define me."
"I never understood why you left but sitting here now it…It's clear you made the right choice."
Merrin smiled at Cal and rested her head on his shoulder.
Cal held her as she slept and he closed his eyes.
He hadn't seen Merrin in so long and before he only had BD.
The loneliness as well as the stress of the fight had been overwhelming but for some reason, Cal felt really great now that Merrin was back.
