Secrets of the Star Warriors

Chapter One: Parenthood

Disclaimer: I don't own SSB, Nintendo does.

Hello everyone. Welcome to my tale. This is a bit odd for me, as this is a rewrite/expansion of my second ever posted fic. I think it's the second, for all I know it was the first. It's been a long time for me. My style has improved much since that first version and I can't even read that version anymore, so it was time to rewrite. This is a cute little story of family fluff. Hope you enjoy it.

Anyway, on with the show:

Smash Mansion, after nightfall

It was a beautiful and quiet starry night. Something everyone needed once in a while. Most of the Smashers were either watching tv or doing some other activity or have gone to bed early. However, there was one Smasher that was sitting outside, watching the stars. One who was master of a blade, and one that always hid behind his mask: Meta Knight.

Now, Meta Knight occasionally would watch the stars at the Mansion, befitting the name of Star Warrior. While most of these times, it was to watch for possible threats, he also watched them when something was bothering him. This was a case of the latter.

"How do I tell him?" Meta Knight asked in the open air. No answer was given, not that he expected one. To be honest, this question had been bothering the Star Warrior for some time. Ever since he helped in the War of Subspace, he has wondered how to approach the subject with the pink puffball. He heard the sliding glass door behind him open. Two finely dressed humans walked out. One dressed in a white suit, with silvery white hair with blue eyes. The other had dark hair, and dressed in a black suit, red irises with a hint of madness in his eyes. One was the Spirit of Creation, the other of Destruction. "Hey, you two. Could use the company," Meta Knight addressed them, then turned back to the stars. Now, Master Hand and Crazy Hand took human forms around the Mansion so as to be more approachable by the Smashers if they need anything. During tournaments, they would take their true forms, when they had to enter the fray.

Without a word between the two, they knew something was up with Meta Knight. However, they knew not to push the Smashers on anything unless it was dire. Some incidents in the past proved them right in that approach. The two of them sat down on either side of Meta Knight. "Nice Night, isn't it?" Master Hand asked, trying to make small conversation.

"Yeah, it is." Meta Knight sighed, and took off his mask. Although everyone knew what he looked like behind that mask, he still preferred to wear it.

The Hands shared a look between each other, it must be serious if Meta Knight was taking off his mask.

Crazy Hand picked up Meta Knight's sword that leaned against the bench at his feet and inspected the blade. To him, it was the size of a short sword or even a dagger. "Galaxia, a blade whose name is legend and was thought to be myth. Lost to time, as it were." Meta Knight smirked, as Crazy Hand sat the sword back down where it was originally.

The smirk quickly faded from the warrior's face. "Guys, how do I tell him, given the history we have? I know he will probably accept me, but what of his mother?" Both Hands shared a brief look of unease. They knew what Meta Knight was talking about. They were among the very few who knew what he was talking about. Meta Knight was right to be a little concerned.

"Ever since that blasted butterfly knight took my Galacta from me, I have been wondering how I am supposed to tell my son both that I am his father and that his mother is dead at the hands of Morpho Knight." Small tears formed in the side of the Star Warrior's yellow eyes.

To Meta Knight's surprise, Master Hand had a trick up his sleeve. "Oh, I don't think that Galacta Knight is dead. Look up to the sky, Meta Knight." He looked up to the stars, and saw a silhouette against the night sky. A warp star and on it, a masked warrior with horns and angelic wings spread out. Meta Knight's eyes widened in shock. He couldn't believe it. He hopped off the bench and ran toward the Warp Star as it landed, forgetting his mask and sword where they lay. The Pink Warrior hopped off the Warp Star, dropped her lance and shield, and pulled the horned mask off her face. The angelic wings transformed into a long white cape. Her ruby eyes glimmering in the low light.

Meta Knight reached the other star Warrior. Both of them wrapped the other in a tight embrace, spinning around in place. "I have missed you so much. I thought you were dead. That blasted butterfly…" Meta Knight trailed off.

"No, I am alright. Morpho Knight did not get me," She cupped her husband's cheek, her ruby red eyes full of joy.

"How are you here, I thought Master Hand forbade outsiders." Meta shifted his eyes over to the human Hand duo. Both of them had smug looks on their faces as they stood up.

"Well, we knew it was bothering you, Meta Knight. So, I bent my own rules, just a little." Master Hand held up a hand with index and thumb positioned to show the sign of little as he said that. "This Galacta Knight was made by me, here in this realm, and given the memories of her true self. So, in many ways, she is just like the rest of you Smashers," Master Hand explained. "The Warp Star entrance was just for show," Crazy Hand inputted.

"Wait, is she allowed to be here permanently? Or is this temporary, am I going to lose her again?" Meta Knight got concerned again, if he was going to lose her again.

Both Hands had a smirk on their faces, and exchanged eye contact. "I don't see why she can't stay. I didn't go to all the trouble to make her, just to undo my work so soon after completing it," Master Hand said, as he crossed his arms. "We've been talking, and we have decided that in recognition of all of you guys' services over the years with various crises, from the wire fighting team, to the polygon army, to the Subspace War and such, we have decided that you all deserve to see those you wish. However, most of them will not stay here, family members can stay here though. I will arrange housing for those that are not family members to live in."

"Thank you, both of you," Meta Knight was speechless at this gift he was given.

"Now, you two have a son that needs to be told the truth," Crazy Hand got them back on track.

"Yes, yes we do," Meta Knight agreed, taking Galacta Knight's hand in his.

Before he let them go, Master Hand had one last thing to say, a warning. "One last thing, let no one else, besides your son know about Galacta Knight's presence here tonight. They will learn in the morning, but I don't want to have to deal with the aftershocks tonight." His stern warning was taken to heart.

After the two of them picked up their effects, Meta took Galacta Knight's hand and led her inside the Mansion. Fortunately, it was not that hard to sneak about the halls as many had retired to their rooms for the night.

Kirby's room

Kirby was sleeping peacefully in his small bed. Meta Knight quietly approached the bed, Galacta Knight stepped into the shadows in the far corner from the bed to hide for the moment. Meta Knight placed his hands on Kirby's arm and lightly shook him awake. "Kirby, Kirby, wake up," Meta Knight said as gently his voice allowed for.

Kirby woke up and sleepily looked at the warrior that he saw as a mentor, a rival, an ally, and father figure. "Kirby, I need to tell you something." Kirby tilted his head up in question. Meta Knight turned his head toward the corner of the room, "Dear?" Galacta Knight stepped from the shadows. Kirby freaked out at the sight of the Greatest Warrior, and dived under his sheets.
"I expected that," Meta Knight remarked. He had to pull Kirby out from under the sheets and hold on to him to get him to stay.

Galacta held up her hands to show that she was no threat, and removed her mask to look the child star warrior face to face. Meta Knight did the same.

"Easy, Kirby, I am not a threat to you. I came to talk with you and Meta Knight," Galacta Knight slowly lowered her hands.

"Poyo?" Kirby said. Both Star Warriors know what he was asking, You did? Galacta Knight hopped up on the bed next to the others.

"Kirby, there is no easy way to say this, but I am your father." Meta Knight had decided that it was just better to get it out there sooner rather than later.

"Poyo?" What? Kirby was shocked, to say the least.

"Yes, Kirby. It is true, I am sorry that I didn't tell you sooner, but I couldn't figure out the best way to tell you. However, with Galacta here, it became an opportune moment," Meta Knight explained to the young warrior. Kirby looked over to the other pink Star Warrior, wondering if there was a connection between them as well.

"And I am your mother. I haven't seen you, well, properly outside of a battle since you were a baby, look how you have grown," Galacta Knight said, pride in her voice. Kirby tilted his head in a bit of confusion.

"You get your color from me, but your eyes are from both of your grandmothers," Galacta Knight explained why both she and Meta Knight had different colored eyes from their son. Both parents could tell by the way that Kirby was looking between them for an explanation for both how they got together and also about their histories with him. "I will explain my appearances over time later, my son, but that will have to wait until morning at least. For now though, come give your mother a hug," Galacta Knight held her arms open. Kirby took the chance to hug her. Galalcta held her son tight to her, not wanting to let him go. Meta Knight hugged both, glad that his family was back together.

The Hands watched the entire event quietly from the door. Pleased with their work, they quietly closed the door behind them and left the family to their alone time. Kirby would fall back asleep in between his parents' embrace.

Next Morning

The Star Warrior family walked into the dining hall together, both parents on each side of Kirby. A stunned silence fell over the hall as all eyes were laid on the Star Warrior family. Master Hand and Crazy Hand, sitting at their high table, had giant smug grins on their faces.

"Morning, everyone," Meta Knight broke the silence and led the three of them over to the table that was reserved for members of their world. King Dedede's mouth was agape as the three puffballs sat down. Meta Knight smirked with his eyes through his mask's vizor at the King of Dream Land. Meta Knight leaned over to Galacta, "I'll fill you in on everyone later," she just nodded at her husband.

As food appeared on the tables, Master Hand stood and held his coffee mug high for all to see, meaning that he had an announcement to make. Setting it down, he began. "Everyone, I have an announcement to make. No doubt that you have noticed the new individual sitting at the Dream Land table, Galacta Knight. My brother and I have been talking and we decided that in reward for all your efforts in various crises, we will allow you to have friends and family visit. In the coming days, I will be allowing you all to come down to my office and put in your requests." There was some murmuring among the tables, "Now, three things: First, let me be clear, I am only allowing family members to stay in the walls of this house, unless the person you want to see is one of the assist trophies that have not yet been given special permission to walk about." Master Hand looked out over a couple of said people, as they were there at breakfast, Waluigi being chief among them. "I will arrange for housing for friends and such. Second, I know you are wondering about my policy of not allowing outsiders. I am not changing that rule, I will create them, like I did for all of you and given the memories of their original selves, with some of the same modifications I made for all of you. I hope you all welcome the new arrivals with open arms. Finally, none of the new faces will be joining the rosters. We may allow the arena to be used for training purposes, but the tournament shall remain those of you designated as Smashers. Now, let us eat." Everyone dug into their food and all were discussing the new changes that the Hands were implementing, and how things would be around the manor. As they ate, Meta Knight managed to catch Master Hand's gaze, who merely lifted his coffee mug in salute. Master Hand knew what he was doing, even if he was making more work for himself.

Well, there you have it everyone, chapter one of this rewrite. It is nice to return to my roots, maybe not my original roots, but close enough. I hope you enjoyed it and are looking forward to what is coming. Next time, Master Hand has a lot of work ahead of him, as well as a long discussion between parent and child for the Star Warrior family.

Also, yes, I know that Star warrior is not a race, but a title/occupation, but Meta Knight and Kirby are said to be Star Warriors, at least in the anime, and Galacta Knight at least could have been a former member or something considering the armor and stuff. Look, it's my story and this is how I will refer to them from here on out.

Anyway, see you all next time.

The Emperor of the Multiverse is out. Peace.
