(Hi everyone I'm trying to get back into writing again, I was sick for ages with a bad illness but I'm trying to write once more. Been watching some Thomas episodes and movies to inspire me. I just really like Thomas and Gordon being friends and wish we had more moments of these two. I know its short but hope you like it anyway)

Thomas and Friends story

I'll Protect You

Set during Hero of the Rails. Thomas worries about the trouble Spencer will cause him, and Gordon reassures his little friend.

Chapter 1

It was night time at Tidmouth Shed, and all the engines talked about their encounters with Spencer.

Thomas spoke up first. "He told Toby he was too old," He said in a sad voice, clearly feeling bad for his friend.

Gordon was angry at this Spencer who dared to work on his line. "He's taken over my express line!" He boomed.

James wasn't impressed by this Spencer either. "He'll never have a shiny coat like mine." James was proud of his red paint. At least he knew Spencer would never look as good as him.

Edward, however, was disappointed in Spencer's attitude. He had no right to speak to his friends so rudely. 'He'll never have manners."

"Spencer is scary," Thomas muttered and looked upset. Maybe he didn't mean for someone to hear his last remark, but Gordon did and was worried about him.

Eventually, all the other engines began to fall asleep, but Thomas couldn't, his mind still thinking of Spencer, and his wheels trembled.

...

It was sometime later Gordon awoke feeling restless. He thought he was the only engine awake but noticed Thomas was wide awake and looked like he hadn't fallen asleep. He didn't need to face his friend to know he was upset.

Spencer had a nasty habit of picking on Thomas a lot, constantly reminding him how small he was and that he couldn't do any massive jobs for Sir Topham Hatt. It made Thomas upset and feel low about himself.

Gordon wasn't having any of it and spoke softly to him. "Thomas."

The smaller blue engine was startled by Gordon calling him as he didn't think anyone else was awake. "Oh ah, Gordon, I was just..."

The big engine interrupted him. "Don't listen to that sliver fool Thomas. You are more important than he'll ever be. His big job is pulling two passengers whenever the Duke and Duchess of Boxford visit Sodor, and that is all! You pull hundreds of passengers daily, help at the docks, and do many other jobs on the island. You even risked your life to save your fellow engine friends. You're a really useful engine, unlike Spencer. Never let him think you aren't important, Thomas, because you are, not just to Sir Topham Hatt but to us and to me as well".

Thomas looked at Gordon, and his eyes widened. He was surprised by his kind words. Gordon always had a way of surprising him when he displayed how much he truly cared. The little engine couldn't help but smile big, and he felt much better. "Thank you, Gordon. It means a lot to hear you say that".

Gordon was pleased. "You don't have to feel scared of him anymore. I'll protect you from that fool, Thomas. I promise"

Thomas smiled even more at Gordon. "Thank you, my friend. You are truly amazing, Gordon."

"Ha, I already know that, but thanks for saying it."

Thomas giggled. "Well, Gordon, goodnight, and thank you again."

"Anytime, Thomas" He gave him another smile before the two blue engines finally fell asleep.
