(A/N: Adagio Dazzle from My Little Pony: Equestria Girls vs. Ember McLain from Danny Phantom. Two music magic using magical girls from another dimension that use other people as a power source. Who will win?)
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
"ADAGIO DAZZLE vs. EMBER MCLAIN"
INTRODUCTION
Wiz: When it comes to worlds of fantasy, there are those who use a type of music magic as a means of power. These magic users are typically known as magical bards.
Boomstick: But these two are not them, though they do use music as their means of magic.
Wiz: Adagio, a legendary siren turned human after she was banished from Equestria.
Boomstick: And Ember, a rock star ghost girl who literally gets more powerful with the more fans she has. He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their powers, skills, and abilities to find out who would win a Death Battle.
ADAGIO DAZZLE
Wiz: Over 1,000 years ago in the land of Equestria, there were three evil sirens known as the Dazzlings, who went around using their enchanted voices to stir up negativity and disharmony. They spread their influence all across the land, gaining more power with the further their influence spread.
Boomstick: Until the Pillars of Harmony tricked them into a magic portal that transported them through space and time many of years into the future to the magicless human world, turning them into harmless teenage girls.
Wiz: These sirens were none other than Sonata Dusk, Aria Blaze, and the leader of their group, Adagio Dazzle.
Boomstick: Guess I need to backtrack a bit after calling them harmless. They may have turned into humans, but they were hardly harmless.
BACKGROUND:
Full name: Adagio Dazzle
Age: unknown (physically 15-16)
Height: 5'6
Race: siren turned human
Hobbies: Singing and music
Homeworld: Equestria
Leader and head singer of the Dazzlings
Sister of Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk
Banished from Equestria to the human world
Wiz: See, since the human world was a place without magic, it was the hopes of the Pillars that if they sent the sirens to this world that they wouldn't be able to harm anyone without magic at their disposal. And while this was true for the most part, they greatly underestimated the Dazzlings, particularly Adagio and her thirst for power.
Boomstick: No kidding, Wiz, she was a Grade A mean-girl. She just loved spreading misery everywhere. Literally.
Wiz: Well, sort of. See, the sirens were creatures who feed on negative emotions and convert them into power. They would use their enchanted voices to cast spells on others, typically to amplify aggression and cause resentment in order to make them fight. They would then absorb the negative emotions that are stirred up through their magic pendants to increase their power, allowing them to extend their influence to cause more negativity and become even more powerful. And they retained this ability when they were banished from Equestria.
Boomstick: Yeah, but since they were in the human world and got turned into humans, they lost all their magic since humans aren't magical, and there was no magic in the human world for them to absorb. Wait, that don't make sense. How were they able to feed on negative emotions if they didn't have magic?
Wiz: Well, it sort of worked the same way Twilight's crown did. While it's true that they lost their magic when they became human, their pendants still retained magic since they didn't change. I mean, sure they went from being embedded in the sirens' bodies to becoming jewels separate from them, sort of how like Cutie Marks become trinkets rather than body markings, but seeing as the gems were unaffected when being transported to the human world, they still allowed Adagio and her sisters to use them to absorb negative emotions.
Boomstick: For all the good it did them. In order to make people fight, they had to cast a spell over them, but doing that wasted the little magic their pendants had. And whatever power they got by absorbing the negative emotions they stirred up was pretty much just enough to replenish the magic they used to cast the spell in the first place, so there was hardly a point in casting a spell at all.
Wiz: Yes, it was a kind of a vicious circle to be sure, more or less keeping the Dazzlings stuck in a pretty much powerless states, which was essentially the Pillars' plan. That is, until Adagio discovered the magic Twilight's crown brought to the human world that she ended up sharing with her human friends. With this magic in her sights, Adagio began to formulate a plan to take the magic for herself and return her and her sisters to power.
Boomstick: So they infiltrated the high school, cast a spell to make everyone have a battle of the bands, and then began absorbing the negative emotions this caused until they were able to absorb the magic from the human versions of Twilight's friends and become pretty badass villains. Why can't all music concerts be this cool?
POWERS AND ABILITIES:
Enchanted voice
Excellent singer
Siren avatar projection
Flight (when transformed)
Sonic scream
Destructive soundwaves
Hypnotic singing
Superhuman speed, strength, durability (when transformed, siren projection)
Magic and negative energy absorption
Incredibly charismatic
Manipulation
Corruption Leadership
Wiz: Like her sisters, Adagio's magic primarily comes from her enchanted voice. Not only does it give her the power to be a great singer, it allows her to cast spells upon others.
Boomstick: Good thing too, because once those pendants were shattered, they couldn't sing for crap. Would that be considered natural talent or cheating since the pendants were originally a part of them? So I guess losing their pendants would be like losing your vocal cords or something. Wait, that doesn't sense, does it? You know what, never mind, I probably don't want to know.
Wiz: Adagio's primary M.O. deals with using her voice to cause anger and resentment in others to make them fight and argue with each other. She would then absorb the negative emotions this fighting causes and become stronger, allowing her increase the power and reach of her spells, and give her access to other kinds of magic.
Boomstick: Like being able to fly around, hypnotize others to the point of brainwashing, if not flat out control them, or create a green fog of negativity to make others fight with each other. I'll tell you one thing though, I'd certainly fight to get a front row seat to watch the Dazzlings sing and dance. I mean, just look at those moves. Are we sure this was meant for kids?
Wiz: Upon gaining more power, Adagio becomes able to unleash powerful destructive soundwaves that she can actually use to attack with. And once she gains access to Equestrian magic and grows strong enough, she becomes able to make a transformation similar to the Equestria Girls' Pony-Up transformation, only more siren-based.
Boomstick: Not to mention they totally went all Scott Pilgrim on the girls, giving us the most epic moment in the entire Equestria Girls series.
Wiz: Once her power becomes strong enough, Adagio is able to conjure up a kind of ghostly projection of her siren form, which really resembles more of a hippocampus than a siren. Regardless, Adagio is able to control this projection and channel her powers into it. She and her sisters then used their projection forms to attack Twilight and her friends, and were even able to counter their music magic and force them into submission with their magic sonic scream soundwaves.
Boomstick: Until Sunset Shimmer joined in, and then they totally kicked their asses and destroyed their pendants. So the Dazzlings took off and never caused trouble again. Well, they at least mellowed out a lot.
Wiz: While the Dazzlings were defeated and rendered completely powerless, despite their failed attempts to fix their pendants, they had actually given Twilight and her friends a real run for their money, and actually came rather close to the start of what would have eventually led to complete world domination.
FEATS:
Fought the Pillars of Harmony
Caused chaos across Equestria
Hypnotized all of Canterlot High School
Brainwashed Celestia and Luna
Made it to the finals in the Battles of the Bands
Infected Twilight and her human friends (minus Sunset) with negativity
Countered Twilight's music magic
Overpowered Twilight and her human friends (minus Sunset) in their Pony-Up forms
Adapted to life in the human world without magic
Boomstick: Even back in the day, Adagio and the other sirens were a major threat. In fact, it's even implied that they were the reason the Pillars of Harmony got together. And they weren't even strong enough to beat them, because they had to trick the sirens into flying into a portal to banish them. Checkmate to you Bronies and Pegasisters who say that Equestria Girls ain't canon.
Wiz: Bronies and Pegasisters? You… actually know those terms?
Boomstick: Against my will, Wiz, against my will.
Wiz: While they were in the real world, the Dazzlings were able to use their magic to turn the entire school against each other, even in their weakened state. And they even completely hypnotized the human versions of Celestia and Luna until they were more or less mind slaves.
Boomstick: And seeing as their pony counterparts are practically gods, that's definitely saying something.
Wiz: When Adagio absorbed enough power, she and the Dazzlings were able to increase their influence on the entire school to take complete control of the minds of the entire staff and student body and turn them into their puppets. And upon transforming and unleashing their siren projections, were actually able to defeat Twilight and her friends.
Boomstick: You ain't kidding. They tanked the music magic attacks the girls threw at them, and Adagio was actually able to completely counter Twilight's attack, and she's an alicorn princess. And she and her friends were in their Pony-Up forms during this, which were able to easily defeat Sunset Shimmer in her demon form. So the Dazzlings actually had them beat until Sunset helped them out. But even after taking a blast of magic from the Equestria Girls' rainbow alicorn beam, or whatever the hell that was, they just got up and ran off. Although their pendants had been shattered by it.
Wiz: Yes, but even in defeat and rendered powerless, the Dazzlings were able to adapt and find a way to live without magic.
Boomstick: Yeah, live out of a van while relying on autotunes to make their singing sound good again so they could hold concerts. But hey, it's a living.
Wiz: The Equestria Girls would go on to face a variety of other villains, but there's no doubt that the Dazzlings were their biggest threats, which is really saying something compared to some of the others they faced.
Boomstick: And with Adagio in charge, she not only showed why their little group was named after her, she also showed why she was the only one fit for the job of being the leader.
EMBER MCLAIN
Wiz: Once upon a time, there was an unpopular high school girl who had dreams of becoming a rock star.
Boomstick: And then she was asked out by a boy, stayed up all night waiting for him, and when he never showed up, she went home, fell asleep, and died when the house caught on fire. The end.
Wiz: No, not the end, Boomstick. Because she came back, manifesting in the Ghost Zone as a powerful ghost with the power of music magic. From this day forth, she became known as Ember McLain.
Boomstick: And she's going to make sure that you remember her name.
BACKGROUND:
Real name: unknown
Age: unknown (physically 16-18)
Height: Approx. 5'0
Weight: Approx. 90-120 lbs.
Race: Ghost
Hobbies: Singing and music
Homeworld: Ghost Zone
Formerly an unpopular high schooler who dreamed of being a rock star
Became a ghost after dying in a housefire
Girlfriend of Skulker
Wiz: Now a ghost, Ember was finally able to achieve her dream of becoming a popular rock star, just as she wanted in life. She then escaped from the Ghost Zone, the realm of ghosts, and began spreading her influence across the town of Amity Park, gaining a major following.
Boomstick: Unfortunately, there was something she hadn't accounted for. And that was Danny Phantom, the half-ghost superhero. Speaking of which, how can someone be half-ghost? Is he half alive and half dead? Come to think of it, I'm a little lost on how the whole ghost thing works in general. Like, some of them are dead people, but others aren't, and wasn't it mentioned that the ghosts could actually be destroyed? We even saw ghost graveyards. How do you even kill a dead person? What are the rules, damn it!?
Wiz: Well, ghosts in the Danny Phantom universe aren't ghosts in the sense of being the spirits of the dead. This is evident in how some ghosts manifest into being, how they're able to age or physically change, and they can even reproduce, such as the case with Box Lunch, who is the future daughter of the Lunch Lady and the Box Ghost.
Boomstick: The Lunch Lady and the Box Ghost? Eww. Or is it more of a yikes? Nah, I'm going with Eww. That's definitely not a ship I saw coming.
Wiz: Based on this, we can determine that not only are ghosts actually living creatures, they're not the spirits of the dead either. Instead, ghosts seem to be an actual species that are made of ectoplasm rather than flesh and blood. And sometimes when a person or animal dies, instead of passing on, they will instead transcend and be reborn as these ectoplasm creatures that have come to be known as ghosts.
Boomstick: So then they're not actually ghost-ghosts.
Wiz: Well, not in the traditional sense as most people think of them, but it is close enough. And while all ghosts seem to come with a basic set of standard abilities, such as flying, invisibility, and being able to move through solid mass, others come with their own unique set of skills. In Ember's case, she gains the power of music magic, which she uses to gain more fans in order to empower her.
Boomstick: But Danny wasn't having any of that. So he would suck her up in the Fenton Thermos and send her back into the Ghost Zone.
Wiz: This has caused Ember and Danny to face off several times throughout the series in different ways, where Ember would escape the Ghost Zone, only to be stopped by Danny time and time again, causing her to become a reoccurring villain for our favorite half-ghost boy.
Boomstick: The fact that she's apparently dating Skulker, who is always trying to hunt Danny, is probably a part of it too. Man, talk about another strange pairing. Isn't Skulker's actual form outside his hunting suit only, like, 2 inches tall?
Wiz: But Ember and Danny aren't always enemies. Sometimes they have needed to set their differences aside and unite to take down a common enemy or a mutual threat.
Boomstick: Like the time she and the other ghosts helped him to defeat the Ghost King, or when she and other ghosts helped him save Christmas. Yeah, that happened. And in the series' conclusion, she and the other ghosts helped Danny save the world from that giant meteor that would have destroyed the planet.
Wiz: Technically, that was an asteroid, as meteors are actually formed from pieces of asteroids or comets that break off and burn up when they enter the Earth's atmosphere.
Boomstick: Nobody cares, Wiz! Stop being a smartass about everything.
Wiz: Despite these temporary truces, Ember and Danny always seem to go back to being enemies, primarily because Ember is always causing trouble, as Danny doesn't go after ghosts who don't go around causing problems. Ember, however, always seems intent on causing mischief, even if it's something as simple as hanging out with her ghost friends.
Boomstick: I personally enjoyed her whole pirate phase. A pirate rock star ghost. That was fun to see.
Wiz: Despite her flair for the dramatic, Ember can and does pose a real threat, particularly when her fans chant her name.
POWERS AND ABILITIES:
Flight
Invisibility
Teleportation
Ghost rays
Healing factor
Superhuman strength, reflexes, stamina, and durability
Ecto-energy construction (ecto-bubbles and ecto-cages)
Pyrokinesis
Power augmentation
Excellent singer
Becomes more powerful when her name is chanted
Techno magic electric guitar
Guitar power – hypnosis, love spell, sonic beam, punch beam, fire blast, skull blast
Boomstick: Damn right, she's practically a reflection on how much power we give to celebrities IRL. That stands for "in real life", Wiz.
Wiz: Yes, I'm familiar with what the acronym stands for, Boomstick. And you're right, Ember's power can in fact be a reflection on how fame in the real world can be used as a means to gain power.
Boomstick: Ha! Called it! Now that's a deep message for you.
Wiz: In the case for Ember, she becomes more powerful by having people chant her name. This is done as a kind of spiritual mantra that can be used by repeating a certain word or phrase in order to empower or even weaken spirits. In Ember's case, it's her name.
Boomstick: And the more people that chant it, the more powerful she becomes. And the stronger she becomes, the further she can spread her influence to get even more people to chant her name. She actually managed to gain quite the fan-base doing this.
Wiz: This is done due to Ember's music magic having hypnotic powers. She casts her influence on others in order to turn them into major fans, and then has them chant her name, making her stronger and stronger. And not just with her ghost powers, but physically as well, even allowing her to overpower Danny's physical strength when enough people were chanting her name.
Boomstick: She even wrote a whole song that was all about her name, which, admittedly, was pretty catchy.
Wiz: Actually, if you listen to the lyrics of her song, it can actually be considered to be based on the events of her death.
Boomstick: That's… wow, really depressing…
Wiz: In any case, despite this rather effective method of gaining power, it does come with a major drawback, whereas if people stop chanting, she loses the power she gains. And if they begin to show her disdain, it will drain her and she will actually lose all power completely.
Boomstick: Just like real life celebrities. No fans, no power.
Wiz: Despite this, Ember does possess her own natural ghost abilities, such as the basic ones we mention before, flight, invisibility, intangibility, and such. She can also teleport and fire ghost rays of ectoplasmic energy, the power of which depends on how strong she is at the time. She can also create bubbles of ecto-energy or even entire cages of it in order to trap others.
Boomstick: And because she's a ghost, she also has healing powers, and can heal injuries she receives in a matter of seconds.
Wiz: It should be noted that this is only for specific injuries, and some she actually can't recover from or heal herself. We see an example of this in an alternate future timeline where Dark Danny was able to permanently damage her vocal cords with his Ghostly Wail, rendering her unable to sing. It's possible though that taking away her singing affected her music magic, thus making her unable to use her healing power in order to heal her vocal cords.
Boomstick: How the hell does a Ghostly Wail damage someone's vocal cords. No, you know what, I don't think I want to know. But apparently, this caused Ember to develop an eating disorder since she put on more than a few pounds. I feel your pain, Ember. I turn to comfort food when I'm depressed too.
Wiz: You could try exercising instead, it's shown to be an effective way of dealing with depression.
Boomstick: Hah! Haha! Hahahaha! You're a real hoot, Wiz! Hahaha!
Wiz: …
Boomstick: Oh, wait, you're serious?
Wiz: Ember also possesses a degree of pyrokinesis when she gets a power boost, most notably by having her hair manifest as fire, and even uses it to create a flame tornado around herself, although she's only ever used this to make a quick getaway.
Boomstick: She's really leaning on the whole ember thing, huh?
Wiz: It's likely related to how she died.
Boomstick: Oh, well, yeah, I guess that makes sense.
Wiz: But Ember's greatest power comes from her magic techno electric guitar. By playing it while it's on certain settings, it enables her to use most of her unique and strongest powers, including most of her magic.
Boomstick: Like with the way she hypnotizes others into becoming her fans, or the time she cast a love spell on Danny to distract him from fighting her. Or she can just use it to smack people around. Oh, and she can also use it to combine with other ghost powers and magic, or use its settings to fire different attacks.
Wiz: Such attacks have included firing sonic waves of ecto-energy, or manifesting a large punching fist, shooting blasts of fire, or firing beams of energy with skulls in it. It's also through her guitar that she can use her ecto-construction powers.
FEATS:
Took control of all the youth of Amity Park
Took control of dozens of parents
Defeated Danny Phantom upon their first meeting
Cast a love spell on Danny
Spread her influence across the world via TV and radio
Helped defeat the Ghost King
Held her own against the Ghost King's army
Helped save Christmas
Helped turn the Earth intangible
Made all the men in Amity Park disappear (with help)
Boomstick: And these are the settings she actually has set on her guitar? How the hell did she design it to have such weird features? Why would she have those features? Did she decide what they should be? Man, if I could have a magic guitar and I could decide what magic features it'd have, I'd pick-
Wiz: I don't think any of us want to know that, Boomstick.
Boomstick: Killjoy.
Wiz: With her various powers, Ember has managed to establish herself to be a pretty big threat against Danny on occasion.
Boomstick: No joke. She actually managed to beat him the first time they met.
Wiz: Well, it wasn't so much that she beat him as it was him not being prepared, and then she managed to cast a love spell on him to distract him from the fight.
Boomstick: Yeah, too bad he didn't have those fancy ghost noise filtering headphones like his future girlfriend did.
Wiz: But Ember has managed to use her power to gain quite the fan-base, essentially taking over the town's youths, allowing her to even overpowering Danny until his friend Tucker managed to get the crowd to stop chanting her name and start booing, which caused Ember to lose her power and allowed Danny to defeat her.
Boomstick: Yeah, but she later went on to lure dozens of parents onto her ship during her whole pirate phase. She also used her mind controlling music hypnosis to technically take over pretty much the whole world when her concert was televised. Though that did kind of backfire on her in the end when she lost her fan-base.
Wiz: It should also be worth mentioning that in addition to facing off against Danny, she was actually able to hold her own against the Ghost King's army, although it should be noted that she was fighting with an army of other ghosts at her side.
Boomstick: She don't even need her ghost powers to attack. She can just use her guitar to pound the living heck out of everyone since that thing is practically indestructible. Kind of makes you wonder what it's made of.
Wiz: But whether it be as a powerful ghost or a major rock star, Ember is undoubtedly one name you will always remember.
THE BATTLE
A music concert is in session. Ember is on the stage, singing to an audience of cheering fans as she plays on her guitar, an image of her on the big screen is playing above the stage.
Ember: "Oh, Ember, you will remember! Ember, one thing remains! Oh, Ember, so warm and tender! You will remember my name! "
Audience: "Ember! Ember! Ember!"
As the crowd cheers Ember's name, her fiery ponytail flares and burns above her head.
Ember: "That's right! Tell me who you love!"
The crowd continues to chant, but as they do, there's movement from up above by the light fixtures. Adagio suddenly leaps down onto the stage and stands before the audience.
Adagio: "If you want a real music concert, then I'll give it to you."
She begins singing and dancing hypnotically, and the crowd becomes fixated on her instead of Ember. She bids them to come closer as she sings, and they start becoming hostile with each other as they fight to get closer to the stage. Adagio's pendant begins glowing as she starts absorbing the negative energy she's stirring up. Behind her, Ember growls angrily at being upstaged.
Ember: "Hey, stage-crasher, this is my concert!"
Adagio stops singing and turns to her with a cocky smile.
Adagio: "Sorry, I only do solos or trios, no duets."
Ember: "And I don't do hecklers."
She strikes a note on her guitar that sends out a soundwave that causes Adagio to slide back. In the audience, the crowd is a combination of fans cheering for Ember while arguing and shoving each other.
Adagio: "So you want to have a real battle of the bands? Then let's battle."
FIGHT!
Ember begins playing on her guitar, and hypnotic soundwaves flow out towards Adagio. But Adagio begins singing as well, and Ember's soundwaves disperse as they get near Adagio. Ember growls in frustration and instead strikes a hard note on her guitar, sending out a beam of energy. It hits Adagio, knocking her off her feet, and she skids across the stage.
Grinning, Ember begins playing hard on her guitar, sending out soundwaves. Adagio glares at her and jumps to her feet, then sings loudly, unleashing a series of vocal rings. They push through Ember's soundwaves and flow over Ember, pushing her back and continuing to flow over her. Ember covers her ears and cries out as the vocal rings keep coming. Her fire hair suddenly surrounds her in a tornado of fire, and she disappears.
She reappears up in the air and hits a note on her guitar, sending a large energy fist flying at Adagio. She stops singing and gasps as the first comes at her before quickly ducking beneath it. Ember sends out several more energy fists, and Adagio dodges out of their paths as they smash holes in the stage. One of them hits her though, and she goes flying backwards and crashes into a speaker.
The crowd starts cheering for Ember, and her ponytail flares as she flies up into the sky. Adagio looks up at Ember, and a smirk appears on her face.
Adagio: "You've got the music, but I've got the song that makes you lose it."
She starts singing and her pendant begins glowing as she rises up into the air and starts floating before she starts glowing as well. Cracks appear over her glowing form before her outer layer shatters, and she now hovers in the air in her Pony-Up siren form. Ember pulls back in surprise as Adagio flies up to join her in the air.
Ember: "What kind of ghost are you?"
Adagio: "No ghost, just a dazzling siren."
She takes a deep breath and unleashes her sonic scream, sending out what seems to be a beam of vibrations with glowing rings flowing down its length. Embers gasps and leaps up onto her guitar, and begins flying on it as if she's surfing. Adagio keeps screaming, moving to make the vibration beam of her sonic scream follow her. It tears through apart everything in its path, destroying much of the stage. Ember flies along as the sonic scream comes after her, then turns intangible and flies through the ground.
Adagio stops screaming and looks around, not seeing Ember anywhere. Chants of "We want Ember! We want Ember!" come from the crowd, and Adagio turns to them.
Adagio: "Aww, you all seem to really love her. Let's see if I can fix that. After all, I need love too."
Her eyes briefly flash with a green light as she begins singing. A green mist manifests and slowly starts spreading through the crowd, and their demands for Ember are slowly replaced with cheers. Those that start cheering for Adagio start to fight with those who are still cheering for Ember, and Adagio relishes in it as she absorbs the negativity. Ember suddenly flies up from behind Adagio and brings her guitar down on her, sending Adagio crashing down onto the stage.
Ember: "No one steals my fans. Come on, people, tell me who you love!"
The crowd starts chanting Ember's name again, and her ponytail flares. Adagio flies up into the air again and grins wickedly.
Adagio: "Sorry, sister, but I will be adored!"
Ember: "Adore this!"
She begins sending out energy fists from her guitar. As they come at her, Adagio lets out a singing scream at each one that causes them to disperse. The two of them then proceed to fly around with Ember launching energy fists and Adagio blocking them with her cries. Eventually though, Embers grows frustrated and flies up higher.
Ember: "Fine, if my music won't work, how about a ghost ray."
She fires a beam of pink energy from her guitar. It strikes Adagio and she goes spinning down to the stage. Ember sends another energy fist down at her, and as Adagio hits the stage, the energy fist collides into her, crashing straight through the stage floor. Ember then lands a short distance away and plays a few victory notes on her guitar.
Ember: "Tell me who you love!"
There's more cheering, and there's another fierce power surge for Ember as the crowd chants her name. But then Adagio flies out of the hole in the stage and Ember turns to her in surprise.
Ember: "How are you still able to fight after that?"
Adagio lets out a mocking chuckle as her pendant glows brightly.
Adagio: "You fool, you don't even realize that you're empowering me."
Her eyes begin glowing red and she begins to emit a bright aura of energy. Ember looks on uneasily, but then she smirks.
Ember: "Not sure what that means, but if what you say is true, then I guess I'll just have to disappear."
She turns invisible, surprising Adagio. She begins looking around, but doesn't see Ember anywhere. Suddenly, she's struck by an unseen force, getting knocked back. Then she gets hit again, and then again. She lashes out blindly, but hits nothing. Then she's struck by Ember's ghost ray coming from a different direction, and then by her energy fist in a different direction.
Adagio growls angrily, and then lets out a massive wail. It's so loud that the ground shakes, and everyone in the audience covers their ears. A few moments later, Ember reappears in the air, covering her ears as well. Adagio stops wailing and looks up at her.
Adagio: "There you are!"
She unleashes her sonic scream. The sound beam slams into Ember, causing her to drop her guitar, and she's pushed backwards by it, slamming into the big screen. She drops to the ground and the big screen drops down and crashes on top of her. Adagio stops screaming and places her hands on her hips, grinning broadly.
Ember bursts up from beneath the broken big screen. She flies back up to where Adagio is and holds out her hand, and her guitar flies into it. She strikes a chord, and the crowd starts cheering, and Ember's injuries heal. Adagio unleashes another sonic scream, and Ember starts playing on her guitar, sending out an energy beam with skulls in it. The two attacks collide in the center of the stage as Ember keeps playing and Adagio keeps screaming.
The power builds up between the two opposing beams, and then suddenly erupts. Both Adagio and Ember are thrown backwards by the blast, sliding across the stage. Ember pushes herself up and looks to see Adagio getting up as well.
Ember: "I'll admit, you're pretty good, so I better just eliminate the competition."
She begins playing her guitar as Adagio starts hovering over to her, and Adagio is suddenly surrounded by a bubble of ectoplasmic energy. She pounds her fist against it, but is unable to break through the bubble. Ember floats over and grins at her mockingly.
Ember: "You won't be upstaging me anymore from in there. So what are you going to do about it?"
Adagio glares at her, but then grins and starts singing and waving her arms around.
Adagio: "What I have in store, all I want and more. I will break on through. Now it's time to finish you! "
She raises her hands up to her pendant, and then thrusts them into the air. A projection of her siren form comes out of her pendant, flying straight through the ecto-bubble and manifesting in the air. Ember jolts back in surprise as the siren projection roars at her. Opening its mouth, it emits a cry that fires a series of red rings. Ember flies out of their path and leaps onto her guitar, flying away. Adagio's siren projection flies after her, and the two of them soar all over the stage.
The siren proceeds to fire sounds rings at Ember that she continues to maneuver around. As she surfs on top of her guitar, she has it fire ghost rays back at the siren, but the siren dodges them as it chases her. Ember then flies out over the crowd, soaring over them as the siren chases her.
Ember: "Tell me who you love!"
As the crowd cheers her name, her ponytail flares. The flames surround her and she disappears, just as the siren fires more sound rings at her. She reappears above the stage, her hair blazing, and the siren turns to her and flies back over. Ember plays on her guitar, and a stream of fire flies towards the siren. It roars as the flames flow over it, kicking its legs wildly as its surrounded by a tornado of fire. Ember then sends out her skull beam, but the siren lets out a wail that not only causes the flames to disperse, it pushes back Ember's attack, and the energy skulls crash all over the stage around Ember.
She glares up at the siren as it flies over and hovers above the stage. It begins letting out a singing wail, unleashing sound rings that flow over Ember. They push her back like a physical force, and then she goes flying backwards. She flies into the curtains, and they come falling down over her. As the siren stops sing-screaming, the ecto-bubble around Adagio disappears. She grins and looks at where Ember lays covered by the curtain as her siren projection hovers above her.
Adagio: "Sorry, Ember McLame, but your concert is cancelled."
The curtains suddenly burst into flames, and Ember flies up into the air. Her hair is blazing and her eyes are glowing red.
Ember: "You apparently don't hear well. Come on, people, say my name!"
The crowd loudly chants Ember's name, and her hair burns more furiously. Adagio's siren projection flies at her, and Ember sends out an energy fists that's several times bigger than before. It collides into the siren, sending it spinning through the air. It regains control of its momentum and turns back to Ember as she flies up to it. She begins firing more powerful ghost rays at it that strike the siren all over. The siren roars as its struck and fires more sounds rings at her, but Ember disappears before she's hit and reappears in the air above it.
As the siren turns to look up at her, Ember slams on her guitar, sending out a soundwave of energy. It hits the siren, sending it crashing down, and it lands in front of Adagio, crashing right through the stage.
As Adagio looks down into the hole, Ember suddenly appears behind her. She hits a chord on her guitar, sending out an energy fist that slams into Adagio. She goes flying backwards from the blow, landing on her back and skidding across the stage. When she opens her eyes, they're no longer glowing. She rolls over and gets to her hands and knees, then looks up as Ember stomps her foot down in front of her. The crowd is loudly chanting Ember's name as her ponytail blazes above her.
Ember: "You hear that? All those people shouting my name? As long as they keep chanting, I can never be defeated."
Adagio remains on her hands and knees, and hangs her head as Ember looms over her. Suddenly, she lifts her head up with a wicked grin on her face, and her eyes begin glowing red again.
Adagio: "Good to know."
She raises her hand, and her siren projection flies up out of the hole in the stage it had crashed through. It flies out over the crowd and unleashes a siren cry, sending the audience members flying and causing the others to cry out and begin fleeing. Ember gasps and turns to the crowd as they run away.
Ember: "Wait, where are you going? Come back! Say my name! Say my name!"
Her flaming ponytail dies down and goes out as her power fades, leaving her looking out at the empty stadium in dismay. Behind her, Adagio rises up into the air, grinning madly.
Adagio: "Now, what was that you were saying about how you can't be defeated?"
Ember angrily turns to her and slams on her guitar, sending out an energy wave. Adagio takes a deep breath and lets out a singing wail that pushes back Ember's attack and flows over her, sending her flying. She goes soaring up into the air over the empty stadium and halts her momentum, looking down at Adagio furiously.
Ember: "You will remember my name!"
The words are barely out of her mouth before Adagio's siren projection flies up and swallows her whole. It lets out a loud belch and roars, kicking its legs wildly. Then it loses its form and flies back down to Adagio and into her pendant, and Adagio sneers victoriously as Ember's guitar falls to the ground and breaks in half.
Adagio: "No, I won't."
KO!
Adagio is seen singing and dancing onstage as she performs for a hypnotized crowd as her siren projection flies around above her.
OUTCOME
Boomstick: I'd say the fat lady's singing now, but Adagio ain't got an ounce of flab on her.
Wiz: This was a rather complex battle, most notably because of how both Adagio and Ember's power worked. And while Ember actually possessed a wider variety of music magic that she could use, Adagio had the skills and abilities she needed to not only counter them, but eventually render Ember powerless.
Boomstick: We know that Ember's power comes from music, but lots of her spells actually required her victims to hear it undistorted and unfiltered. For instance, the earphones that Sam wore filtered out ghost noises, which prevented her from falling under Ember's love spell and hypnotism. So Adagio's own singing would prevent her from falling prey to Ember's power.
Wiz: Likewise, we've been able to see Adagio use her voice and magic to counteract music magic, which she would be able to use to cancel out many of Ember's spells and attacks. And while it's true that Adagio could also have her own spells rendered powerless, it would require completely blocking out her music, like the way Vinyl always listens to her headphones at volumes so loud that she can't hear anything else.
Boomstick: So basically, Ember could play all she wanted, but as long as she could hear Adagio's voice, she would succumb to her power, while Adagio would be fine simply by disrupting Ember's music. In order to beat her, Ember's power would need to actually surpass Adagio's. And while she was able to overpower Danny Phantom, it took people all over the world chanting her name in order for her to do so, and Danny still held his own against her. But once people stopped chanting, Ember was in pretty big trouble.
Wiz: This is ultimately what allowed Adagio to win the fight. Both Adagio and Ember rely on "victims" in order to obtain their power, with Adagio feeding off negative emotions and Ember relying on people chanting her name. The problem for Ember is that no matter how powerful she becomes, once people stop chanting her name, or worse, showed disdain towards her, she lost her power.
Boomstick: But for Adagio, once she gained power, she kept it until she used it, so there was never any risk of her losing her power the way Ember did. I guess Miss Rock Star really should have kept the secret to her power to herself. But that's what you get when you like to brag.
Wiz: Even if Ember never revealed this part of herself though, Adagio still held the advantage based on how her power worked. Since she absorbs negative emotions and converts them into power, seeing as she was fighting Ember, she would be able to absorb her negative emotions.
Boomstick: Yeah, you're not exactly going to be feeling positive emotions towards someone you're trying to destroy. This basically turned Ember into a never-ending source of power for Adagio, essentially allowing her to use Ember as a battery.
Wiz: Now you may be wondering, since Adagio's pendant is what enables her to absorb negative emotions, couldn't Ember have simply destroyed it and rendered Adagio powerless? Well, the answer is both yes and no. Sure, Ember could do this, but being able to is different, as she would need to become strong enough to overwhelm Adagio's own power in order to destroy it. However, even at the strongest that we've seen Ember, she hasn't reached the level of power that we saw Twilight and her friends reach in order to defeat the sirens.
Boomstick: Even if she could become that strong by having her name chanted enough, Adagio could just cause chaos in the crowd of people chanting Ember's name in order to stir up more negative emotions for her to absorb and increase her own strength. And doing so would only cause them to stop chanting Ember's name, which would just render her powerless anyway and allow Adagio to claim the victory. Or she could simply drive them off, which would remove Ember of her source of power.
Wiz: In short, even if Ember didn't brag about her power, should Adagio begin to lose the fight, it still would have resulted in her making the crowd stop their chanting once she spread her negative influence to them so she could become stronger, which would just zap Ember of her power.
Boomstick: So basically, Adagio had a way to always stay in power and become stronger, but the odds were always against Ember where she would lose hers.
Wiz: It should also be noted that Ember was also technically outnumbered since Adagio had the power to produce a projection of her siren form that could basically act independently from her and act as a second opponent. And since this is just a projection, Adagio could basically use it to fight without having to worry about taking any damage herself, as evident when her siren projection was destroyed by Twilight and her friends, but she remained unharmed. However, despite Ember being a ghost, and even possessing a healing factor, we can see that she can be irreversibly damaged, as evident in how she had her vocal cords damaged by Dark Danny so she could no longer sing.
Boomstick: If that weren't unfair enough, since Adagio's siren projection doesn't actually have a physical form, it would just limit Ember's ability to attack it even further. So not only could Adagio use Ember as a battery, take away her source of power, she could even give her what was basically a decoy to fight while she just continued to get stronger. Although, couldn't Ember just become intangible to avoid Adagio's attacks?
Wiz: Well, technically she could, but it really wouldn't matter, as that's really only affective against physical attacks. And since Adagio's attacks weren't really physical, Ember's intangibility wouldn't have been of much use. And speaking of attacks, a lot of Ember's involved her actually playing music, whereas all Adagio had to do was sing.
Boomstick: Meaning if Adagio destroyed Ember's guitar, she would gain a major advantage over the ghost girl since she would be taking away one of her primary methods of attack, but Ember couldn't exactly take away Adagio's voice. And losing her guitar would probably serve to turn her fans against her in the first place since she would be unable to play for them or hypnotize them. See, this is why relying on others for strength is total BS, I don't care what movies and books say about having others stand by your side.
Wiz: That's… not exactly the same thing as what Ember was doing.
Boomstick: You say potato, I say tomato.
Wiz: That's not even how the saying… Uch, never mind. In the end, as powerful as Ember was, she was also far too dependent on her fans for her power.
Boomstick: And once her source of power was taken from her, she was pretty much screwed, allowing Adagio to swoop in for the win.
Wiz: While Ember may have had more abilities and a greater variety of spells than Adagio, her power was far too circumstantial. And when it came down to it, Adagio actually had everything she needed to send a ghost like Ember straight to the afterlife.
Boomstick: I guess you could say that she ain't afraid of no ghost.
Wiz: The winner is Adagio.
