Prologue
The Kingdom of Pallettia, where people belong in the royal and nobles, who worships spirits and blessed with the power to use magic became of it.
The First Princess, Anisphia Wynn Pallettia, despite being royal, doesn't possessed any magic was a researcher of magicology that uses a branch type of magic so it can be used by people who can't use magic such as herself.
She's also known as Princess Odd or the Marauding Princess.
Her assistant, Euphielia Magenta was a noble lady loved by spirits that can used all 6 elements and she's called the Genius. She's also the ex-fiancee of Anisphia's younger brother Prince Algard Von Pallettia. Princess Anisphia made Euphielia her research assistant to help restore her name from being humiliated in public from having her engagement annulled.
What if there weren't only spirits that grants humans magic? What if there were also demons who also can do what spirits can... But for a price?
Somewhere in some part of the outside of the Kingdom of Palettia, there lived a young 10 year old girl with beautiful long, flowing ash white hair with crystal blue eyes in a plain white dress who lived as a worker for a noble family after the death of her mother.
Her name is Stephanie Arcobaleno.
Stephanie has spent everyday serving the noble family as an errand girl, buying items for the servant's needs. She was treated poorly by the nobles if she didn't do her job right or other things. Despite this, she didn't lose her faith that not every day will be bad and she always looks at the bright side by singing her favorite song, her mother sang to her every night.
There's one more thing special, but odd about her and that is... She has the ability to see demons!
Before, when her mother was still alive, as a toddler, she once made friends with a bird demon who made a contract with her mother in exchange for giving up her art possessions to look after her daughter after her death.
That bird demon was named, Astaroth. A great demon belonging to one of the 13 Calamities of the Wasteland!
Stephanie likes Astaroth nicknamed Aster, despite the bird demon's hatred of humans other than forming contracts with them in exchange of valuable art pieces. But as time passes and the great bird demon spends time with the young girl growing up, she found herself liking the girl because of her innocence and her love of feeling free, which melts the demon's dark heart.
Due to Astaroth always by Stephanie's side, the other demons don't dare to form a contract with the girl since the bird demon will kill them if they do. However, because of her pure heart, the demons find her attractive and they ended up being friends with her, much to Astaroth's displeasure of having more company since demons were pretty much solitary beings. Since not many humans can see demons, they helped her and Astaroth to work by offering food for them in case the bird demon suffers from back pains due to using her human form appearance for a long time.
Because of this, Stephanie's given the title name of, "The Girl loved by Demons".
However that didn't last long when years later after Stephanie turn 9 years old, a human organization called the Sword Cross Knight's Commander who hunted and eliminate demons found Astaroth and have her captured in their captive despite the great demon's high magic power. Stephanie was also captured but was ordered to be killed but since it's her deceased mother who made a contract with Astaroth and not Stephanie, she was spared and be in their Sword Cross Knight's care briefly.
Stephanie hated the knights because of the torture Astaroth had to endure in cases of she visited Astaroth secretly. It breaks her heart that her bird demon friend was trap in a cage and had to suffer the pain.
The same could be the same for the bird demon. As long as if Stephanie keeps secretly visiting her, she'll be the one that be hurt instead of Astaroth. But the bird doesn't mind as long as her once in a life time kindhearted girl is safe.
The human and demon friends were spared from more suffering when the Sword Cross Knight Commander made an agreement, more specifically a contract with Astaroth.
In exchange for Stephanie's freedom and Astaroth's precious art collection in safe condition, the bird demon must join the Sword Cross as their main demon weapon for taking out the demons of the highest power, in other words, the demons belonging to the 13 Calamities of the Wasteland.
Astaroth had no choice but to agree to the contract. She's forced to say goodbye to Stephanie and forget about her, bringing her hatred of humans back to the surface.
Being separated from her only friend, Stephanie left wandering the world struggling to survive until she's picked up by the noble family who took her in and becoming their servant which happens for a year.
Now, Stephanie became a lonely girl but didn't lose hope striving to live.
Outside one night, there was a largest lake called Lake Windermere, a demon in a Dragon form was sitting at the edge of the lake looking up at the moon.
His name was Sitri and one of the 13 Calamaties of the Wasteland, just like Astaroth.
Sitri is a humanoid dragon with long purple hair and 2 white streak from either side, white-scaled skin, wings, and gold eyes. He wears a navy robe over a faded beige shirt, a gold bracelet on his left arm, gold earrings, a blue belt with a ruby-red buckle, and black pants.
The dragon demon was in thought, thinking hard about something that happened some time ago until he yawned and decided to fall back sleeping into a deep lake which he calls his home.
As he dives deeper, his world become dark as he falls asleep until his immortal life rot away.
This is a story about a human girl and demon with opposite view of the world about to meet.
