Just to clarify, Mickey Mouse and other Disney friends will not join this story. I only put in the disclaimer because the fanfic is based on that cartoon's plot. I just thought I should point that out.
But anyway, I hope you enjoy reading the second chapter of Veggie Land!
Chapter 2: Veggie Amusement
Main Pumpkin Plaza, a citywalk that resembles a 1940s-vintage looking town. There's a movie theater showcasing black and white films about pumpkins. A store that sells pumpkin merchandise. And there's a bakery filled with pumpkin pies.
"Wow! This is a dream come true! I can't believe we're in Veggie Land!" Gil exclaims, filled with happiness.
"Perhaps we should check the map to see the attractions." Molly pulls out the only park map, showing what's in Veggie Land.
Gil, on the other hand, paid more attention to the first ride ahead.
"Oh! Oh! Let's go on the Vegetable Carousel!"
"Oh, okay, sure." Molly puts her map away as the two head to the ride.
The carousel had vegetables for one to sit on. Tomatoes, celery, peas, you name it.
Gil hops in as Molly gives a nod to Zooli and Oona, who are secretly in charge of the attraction.
"Alright, Oona. You turn the wheel and I'll play the piano."
"On it, Zooli."
The two female guppies prepare themselves as Gil sits on a potato and Molly sits on a carrot.
The music plays and the ride begins… slowly.
"Faster! Faster!" The turbo-charged boy yells out.
Molly looks at Oona, who is trying her best to spin the wheel. It's quite hard for one Bubble Guppy. And since the pink-haired girl was behind Gil, she quietly jumps out of the ride and makes her way to Oona.
"Thanks for the help, Molly."
"Two Bubble Guppies are better than one." Molly states as she helps spin the wheel, making the ride a little faster.
"Yeah! Go faster!"
The two girls hear Gil burst out. They're getting tired and stop for a brief moment. Only for-
"Woah! Woah! WOAH!"
The wheel goes backwards, spinning Molly and Oona! Along with the ride also spinning backwards, exciting Gil!
"A ride that goes backwards? Awesome!"
"WAHHH!"
The wheel then sends Molly and Oona flying away! Making the two crash into a saloon-like building!
Fortunately for Gil, he wasn't hurt as he held on tight to the ride. But that doesn't mean he's not dizzy.
"Oh… Man, I'm gonna be sick."
A few seconds, Gil makes himself steady. Then he looks around. "Huh? Molly? Where'd you go?"
"Oh, hiya Gil!"
Gil turns around and sees Goby and Deema.
"Oh, hi guys. Is this great or what?"
Deema, who's wearing a carrot-hat, smiles. "Well, it certainly isn't like Bubbletucky!"
Goby nods. "Yep, it sure is a fun-filled extravaganza! Come with us, we're gonna get on the 'Haunted Garden' ride."
"Alright!" Gil cheers, then makes a spooked look. "H- H- Haunted Garden?"
"Yeah, it's over there."
Goby points to what looks like a regular barnhouse, but there's a sign showcasing the name of 'The Haunted Garden'."
Gil begins to shiver from fright. The two other guppies get behind him and lightly push Gil towards the ride.
"Come on, Gil. It's gonna be fun." Deema says as the three head to the attraction.
"But Molly. She was here a second ago, shouldn't we wait for her?"
"I'm sure we'll run into her soon." Goby states. "Right now, we gotta get on that ride!"
XOXOXO
Zooli, who stopped playing the piano, went to the saloon to check on the two guppies that flew away.
"Girls! Are you okay?"
Molly gets up, "Yeah, I'm okay. But I think I need to lie down for a bit."
"Me too." Oona also says.
XOXOXO
In the Haunted Garden ride, Goby and Deema inform Gil that a cart can only take two guests at a time. They suggest for him to take one for himself.
"Come on, guys! Do I have to be on my own?" Gil questions his friends.
"Don't worry, Gil. Even though it's spooky, it's not real." Goby assures his pal.
"Well, I guess you're right."
"And," Deema begins, "we won't be too far from you."
Gil takes a deep breath. "Okay."
The blue-haired guppy takes his seat on the cart. Little does he know, when Deema said she and Goby won't be that far from him, she means, not far at all.
Why? Because Deema and Goby are pushing Gil's cart for him to explore the attraction. Not only that, but the two will also be doing scary voices for Gil to feel more frightened.
"Mwahaha!" Goby laughs freakishly. "Welcome to the Haunted Garden!"
"Ooooo!" Deema sounds creepy. "You'll never leave here!"
Gil gulps and sweats. "O… kay."
And with that, Goby and Deema begin pushing the cart.
"Here we are, the Prickly Pumpkin Patch." Goby informs. "Where the pumpkins are so prickly, they look so scary!"
Out of nowhere, three Prickly Pumpkins jump from the patch!
"Boo." One of them says without any motivation.
"AHH!" Gil screams out loud as he grabs a piece of wood from the ground and hits the three pumpkins over and over! After about three hits on each pumpkin, Gil uses the wood to row himself out of the ride. Like on a boat.
The three pumpkins were actually three small fish in costume. They take those off, showing the big bumps on their noggins.
"Ow." The same fish says without motivation once again.
"Heh, heh." Deema rubs her left arm, "Sorry about that, guys."
XOXOXO
Exiting the ride, Gil clears his sweat off and sighs relaxingly. "Never again!"
"Hi Gilly."
Gil turns around and sees Molly.
"Oh, hey Molly. Where were you?"
"Oh, I went and got some ants-on-a-hill. My treat."
The girl responds as she gives the boy one of her ants-on-the-hill snacks.
"Wait, these aren't ants or hills. These are celery sticks with peanut butter and chocolate pieces."
Molly chuckles. "The chocolate pieces are the ants marching on the hill, which is the celery stick."
Gil now gets it. "Oh! But what about the peanut butter?"
"I guess it's just for more flavor." Molly takes a bite of her snack. "It is tasty."
Before taking his bite, Gil's eyes become fascinated with the land in front of them.
"Molly," he turns his friend around, "look!"
Space-Tomato Land, the section of the park where everything is futuristic! There are colorful LED lights surrounding the land with tomatoes looking like robots, astronauts, and people from the future!
"Let's go, Molly!" Gil drags his best friend fast and excitingly.
"Woah, slow down!" She tells him, but couldn't help but laugh in amusement.
To be continued…
Now it seems like I'm just rewriting Mickey Mouse's Potato Land short. But I can assure you there will be more chapters with original content and not a whole rewrite of the short.
Such as the next chapter, which features the futuristic land Gil and Molly will explore.
But regards to the attractions in this chapter, the carousel is just a carousel. While the Haunted Garden is based on the Haunted Mansion.
Until then, have a great day and thanks for reading.
