Upon arriving at Blake's apartment, he kicked the door open then began to look around. He soon found pictures of Blake's childhood, the last two he saw had Blake with another woman. Both seemed happy together. As he set the photos down, the phone rang. He hid and a good thing too, because Blake was right outside her apartment and slowly opened the door as the answering machine answered the phone.

"You've reached Blake. I'm not home at the moment. Leave a message, please." The machine said then beeped.

"Blake, it's Ava. The police were just here at the hospital to look for you. They seemed convinced you had part in a shootout. I told them that wasn't possible, but they're still looking for you right now." A woman's voice said.

Chris pinned Blake to the wall the window was on and looked at her. "What do they want with you?" He asked as screeching was heard above them and parts of the ceiling hit the floor. Chris let go of Blake then fired on the Phoenixes. When he looked back, he saw Blake was gone and chased her to an elevator but it closed before he could catch her. "Shit!" He hissed then saw several Phoenixes in the hallway and fired on them.

He soon realized he was in a corner and aimed at the floor then fired his guns in a circle around him until where he was standing fell to the floor below him then he ran to the elevator. There he saw a woman with her hair in a ponytail. "Lena..." He hissed then fired on her. He then ran to the two women as he heard Blake scream in pain. He dragged her away from Lena then the two headed downstairs till they were out of the complex and in Chris's car.

"What the fuck is happening?!" Blake asked as Chris began to drive away with Lena quickly sprinting after them until she jumped onto the roof of the car. From under her jacket, Lena had a blade extend then stabbed into the roof of the car three times. The third made impact with Chris's shoulder, getting a scream of pain from the Death Hunter.

Growling once the blade was withdrawn, he slammed on the brakes, sending Lena off the car. He then backed the car up a bit before driving forwards, intent on hitting Lena, who simply rolled off the hood and windshield then landed in her feet. The blade retracted into her sleeve and she watched the two drive off.

While driving away, Chris was struggling to stay conscious.

"Stop the car." Blake said, but he didn't stop. "I said stop the car!" She said, only to get hit in the chest by the side of his hand before he pointed one of his guns at her.

"Back off!" He said to her.

"Okay. You got it." She said then he lowered the gun. "But you're losing a lot of blood. If you don't stop the car so I can dress that wound, you'll get us killed."

He looked at her then scoffed silently.

"I'm not fucking around!"

"I'm not either! Now shut up and hold on. I'm gonna be fine." He said then shifted gears, but passed out a second later. Blake tried to turn the car, but it ended up rolling in the air until it hit the water. Blake hit her head pretty hard but she still managed to use one of Chris's guns to shoot out the window on his side. She then got them both under a dock then gently laid him on his back then did three chest compressions, getting him to briefly come to as he coughed up water then went unconscious again.

Blake looked at his sound then ripped off some of her jacket to the around his shoulder to stop the bleeding. She passed out shortly after.

The next night, Chris came to and saw his would had healed. He then saw Blake passed out and brought her to his room at the mansion. He changed out of his uniform and into a black tank top with dark pants and shoes.

Blake eventually came to and tried to sit up, but he gently laid her back down.

"No, lie still. Your skull took a nasty knock. You were out cold for some time." He said. "Do you have a clue as to what those men wanted with you?"

"Where am I...?" She asked.

"Safe, Blake." He replied. "I'm Chris. Thank you for what you did for me. I'm indebted to you for that."

She nodded before going back to unconsciousness.

The door soon opened and Ethan looked at Blake. "So, the rumors were true, for once." He said as Chris rolled his eyes. "The whole house is all abuzz about your little pet here."

Chris didn't say a word and Ethan looked at him. "My God, are you going to try and turn her?"

"Of course I'm not." Chris said.

"Then why behind her here?"

"She saved my life." Chris then turned to Ethan. "What do you want?"

"It's what Kyra wants. And she wants to see you. Now."

"This is unacceptable entirely!" Kyra exclaimed. "You defy my orders and spend the night away from the mansion's safety with a human that you brought back to my house?!"

"I'd say that this is still Vera's house!" Chris retorted. "Look, I don't to argue, alright? You need to understand that Blake is somehow important to the Phoenixes..."

"So it's Blake now!"

"Damn it, Kyra! Just head me out...!"

"It's beyond me why you're obsessing over your ridiculous theory! Lena would be highly disinterested in a human, Blake or otherwise!" She said then paused. "Wait...You're in love with her, aren't you?"

"Now, who's got ridiculous theories?" He asked before Kyra left for his room with him following behind. They and Ethan saw Blake make it over the gate then Kyra turned to Ethan.

"OUT!" She said and Ethan quickly left the room.

Angered, Kyra slapped Chris with the back of her hand.

Chris growled lowly after she left.
