As he approached a sword lodged in a stone, he heard a faint whisper and felt a surge of energy course through him as he grasped the handle.
"Here is the sword, it is now yours to wield, oh great king."
As he looked ahead, he spotted a woman holding a bow that was pointed toward him. The intense heat of the flames engulfing their surroundings made him feel uneasy.
"It would be best if we avoided meeting in this manner,"
Before him, there was a knight who kneeled, adorned in white and gold armor.
"My blade is yours, from now, until I take my last breath, hail to you, my king"
As he looked on, a man wielding a staff slammed it into the ground, causing a powerful blast that sent numerous soldiers flying.
"Begone, traitors to the crown!"
He then saw himself holding the head of a man as his sword was covered in blood.
"HAIL TO YOU, KING OF VALE! HAIL! HAIL! HAIL! HAIL! HAIL!"
"He who shall pull the sword from the stone is thy born king, and shall taketh the throne for himself!"
He saw himself sitting upon a throne made of green wood and golden carving of leaves and kneeling in front of him were 12 knights.
He then saw Vale at war with itself and leading an army of black figures, however, he could not see the figure who led the army.
"Hail to I! Rightful Ruler of Vale! You shall no longer have what is my birthright Uncle!"
Suddenly, it changed to a pyre where a body was being burned, but he could not see whose body it was.
With that final image, his eyes shot open and he sat up, breathing heavily. He slowly began to calm down as he looked around only to see he was still in his room.
He let out a heavy sigh of relief and closed his eyes. 'It was just a dream, Oscar, nothing more, just a dream,' He told himself.
This was Oscar Xiao-Long, son of Taiyang Xiao-Long and Summer Rose. Well, he wasn't really their son, they had taken him in after his birth parents had left him in the woods. He was left for dead, and he didn't know why, but the gods must have had plans for him because it was Tai and Summer who discovered him, took him into their home, and raised him like their own. Though, they already did have two kids of their own.
He had two older sisters, Yang and Ruby. They were the best siblings he could have ever asked for.
Yang was the oldest, being 19. She was outgoing, hard-working on the farm, and had a temper that would put a barbarian to shame. Yet she was protective and very loving of Ruby and him, always helping them out and doing a lot for them when they needed help or something else.
She had been asked by many men for her hand Un marriage, however, Yang refused as she did not want her path forged for her, and wanted to make one for herself.
Then there was Ruby, the middle child at the age of 17. Ruby was a bit shy to other people who were not her family, but she was full of joy and excitement, and very friendly and loving to those she knew. Ruby had always been motherly to Oscar, much like their own mother, but she knew when to give Oscar his space.
Unlike Yang, Ruby was only sought out by the men a lot less than Yang, this was due to most men wanting Yang, but those that found Ruby to be a catch were scared off by their father as well as Yang herself.
And then there was him, the youngest of the three at the age of 15. He was a bit shy like Ruby but loved adventure like Yang, and he too wanted something else besides working the farm.
Oscar looked out his window to see that it was morning and so, knowing his mother was awake and cooking breakfast, he got up and got dressed.
He wore a plain white shirt, a pair of orange overhauls, raggedy brown pants with a few patches stitched around the knees, and a pair of brown shoes. He also put on his gloves, which were worn and fingerless.
He made his way down the stairs and walked straight to the kitchen, where he could already smell eggs and pork being cooked. When he entered the kitchen, he saw his sisters sitting at the table, already eating.
Yang was wearing a long-sleeved dark brown shirt, a pair of dark brown pants, and a pair of boots. Her hair, which was usually let down and curly, was tied up in a ponytail. On her wrists were a pair of golden bracelets that their father had given her for her birthday.
Ruby wore a long-sleeved black shirt, a pair of black pants, and a pair of black shoes, and she was wearing her red hooded cloak, something that always caught one's eye. Her hair remained short, she never did like long hair.
Ruby was the first to notice him and gave him a small wave, "Good morning Oscar!" Ruby said cheerfully.
Yang finally looked up from her plate and gave him a smile, "Mornin' Oscar!" Yang told him.
"Morning," Oscar replied with a bit of a yawn. He then turned to his mother, "Morning Mom," he greeted.
Summer turned and looked at her baby boy and gave him a smile, "Ah, good morning my beautiful boy!" She said cheerfully.
Oscar blushed a bit and felt bashful, but he took a seat at the table, and in a few minutes, his mother served him some eggs and pork, she then gave him a kiss on the forehead before returning to the stove.
"Where's dad?" Oscar asked before digging into his food.
Yang turned to look at him again, "in the barn, he's looking at the farm equipment before we start planting the crops," Yang told him.
Oscar gave her a quick nod before he continued eating.
After a few minutes, the front door opened, and in walked their father, Taiyang, looking disappointed. "Looks like we'll be taking a trip to Vale!" He told all of them.
Summer looked at her husband with a raised brow, "What's the matter?" She asked.
Tai looked at her, "The damn wheel to the plow is broken and some of the tools are broken, I need to hear to Vale to get a new wheel and some new tools," He told her, he then looked over to his daughters, "Are you girls up for a trip?" Tai asked them with a smile.
Yang and Ruby nodded with smiles, eager to go to the city and get off the island for a day, and quickly raced to their rooms to get ready.
Oscar looked to his father, "Can I come?" He asked.
Tai looked at him and shook his head, "I need someone here on the farm with your mother," Tai told her.
Oscar looked at him with a disappointed expression, "But I have never gone with you, to Vale! Why can't I go? I'm old enough!" Oscar said.
"Oscar, your just not ready," Tai told him.
Tai then felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see Summer giving him a concerned look, "Take him with you, Tai," Summer told him.
"But Summer-"
Summer put a finger to his lips to shut him up and shook her head before looking back at her husband. "It's been long enough, Tai," she told him. "The more you keep him from the world, the more he'll want to go out there by himself, take him with you and let him get it out of his system," Summer told him.
Tai let out a sigh and nodded, he then turned back and looked at Oscar, "Alright, go upstairs and get ready,"
Oscar smiled and nodded and raced upstairs to get ready to go on his first trip to Vale.
As he did, Tai looked worried, "I don't like this Summer," He asked.
"You worry too much," she told him, "We can't keep him on this farm forever, one day, he'll have to be told the truth," She told him.
Tai nodded slowly, "I know, I know, I just... he's my son, how do I tell him who he really is?" He asked.
Summer nodded, "I know how you feel, I dread the day we have to tell him, but he must know why, sooner or later, and he must see the world for himself," Summer told him.
Tai nodded, "I just pray that they never find him," Tai said.
Summer gave him a quick kiss on his lips and nodded, "As do I, my love, as do I," she replied.

After a long hike to the docks and a ride on the ferry, the four had arrived in Vale.
Once off the boat and on the Docks, Tai looked at his children. "Now listen, all three of you," he told them, "You can look around the city, but be careful and stick together, Understand?" He asked.
They all nodded.
Tai nodded back, "Good, now Yang knows which shop I'll be at, if I am not there, wait for me here, understood?" He asked again.
Once again, the three nodded, and with that, Tai let them go and smiled as he watched them walk away together excited to explore the city. However, once they were out of sight, Tai turned around and looked at a cloaked figure. "Why are you here?" He asked.
"I merely wished to see the boy, Taiyang," They said.
Tai glared at them, "You saw him, now be on your way," Tai told them.
"Tai... the time is nigh," they told him. "I can feel it, old friend, the boy must know,"
"He'll know when he's ready!" Tai yelled.
The figure stood still and remained silent after Tai yelled at them.
Tai calms down and sighed, "I have places to be, goodbye," Tai said as he walked off.
The figure let out a long sigh, "Farewell, for now, old friend.
Back with the three teens, Oscar was amazed by the sheer scale of the city. He had never seen buildings so tall and crafted so well, he had also never seen so many people walking the streets.
"This place is amazing!" Oscar said with amazement.
Yang chuckled and her brother's amazement, "You haven't seen anything yet, Oscar!" Yang said.
Ruby was looking around before her eyes caught something happening in the center I the city just a block away. Ruby was confused and nudged Yang to look over where she was pointing. "What's going on over there?" Ruby asked her.
Apparently, there was a large mob of people gathered together looking and cheering at something before sounding disappointed.
Yang shrugged, "Don't know," she replied before smiling, "But let's go check it out!" She said.
Yang ran down the street and Ruby and Oscar ran after her. They arrived at the center of the city and looked over the crowd to see what the commotion was about, only to see a man standing on a platform, and with him on that platform was a large stone, and protruding from the top of the stone was what appeared to be a sword.
Seeing the sword, Oscar suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head and winced.
"My king... you have come at last..."
Hearing that voice, Oscar quickly looked around frantically for the source of the voice but found no one.
Seeing her brother look around rapidly made Ruby concerned. "Oscar, is everything ok?" She asked.
Oscar turned to look at Ruby, "Did you hear a woman's voice?" Oscar asked.
"Huh?" She asked with a confused expression.
Suddenly the crowd gained in unison and they turned to look at the stage and saw the man had failed to pull the sword out of the stone. He got off stage and stepping forward was a woman with long Raven hair, and fiery orange eyes, and she wore what appeared to be tight dark red and black leather armor with a few golden seams around the dark red part of her armor.
She looked over the crowd with a smile, "So another fails!" She announced, "Who else will step forth and claim the title of King!?" She asked.
Yang chuckled, "King huh? I like the sound of that!" She said. Yang then raised her hand, "I would like to try!" She said.
The woman looked at Yang, still smiling, "I'm afraid only men are allowed to try," She told Yang.
Yang grumbled but then smiled as she grabbed Oscar's arm and forcefully raised his arm into the air, "Then let my brother try!" Yang said with a bright smile.
Oscar looked at Yang with shock, "Yang!" He cried.
"Ah come on Oscar, give it a try!" Yang said. "Who knows, you might just become King!" She chuckled.
The woman looked down toward Oscar, "Are you going to come up, Boy?" She asked.
Oscar turned to the woman and he wanted to say no and not go up on the stage and embarrass himself in front of the whole city, but then he felt something inside of him, it was a strange feeling, his head turned to the stage and he looked at the sword and suddenly, all the noise in the world was silenced out. He then began walking toward it.
People made way for Oscar and some laughed at him, believing he would fail, while others were eager to see him try, however, they all fell on deaf ears and Oscar heard nothing.
He just felt a pull to the sword, and when he got on stage, he heard the voice of the woman again.
"I have waited many years for this... my king..." she told him.
"Who... who are you?" Oscar muttered as he looked down at the sword.
"You know my name, my king," The woman told Oscar, "Take me into your hand once more, my king, and all shall be revealed,"
Oscar then wrapped his hand around the handle of the sword and suddenly a dark green energy surrounded his hand and the handle.
The woman on stage looked surprised by what was happening before her eyes. "Impossible..." she muttered.
In the crowd, a hooded figure was shocked to see the green energy around Oscar's hand. "It's really you... Oscar," they said to themselves.
Oscar then pulled the blade put from the Stine and raised it into the air, much to the shock of everyone, however, Yang and Ruby cheered for their brother.
Instead of cheers from the crowd, they all slowly got on one knee and bowed, confusing Oscar as well as his sisters.
"Boy!"
Oscar turned and looked over to the woman on stage, who was still smiling as she walked toward him.
"What is your name?" She asked.
Oscar suddenly felt nervous and on edge, and oddly enough, he sensed some sort of familiarity from her. "Oscar Xiao-Long, Ma'am," He said.
"Oscar, huh?" She asked. "I never thought I'd ever see you again, little prince,"
Oscar was now utterly confused, "Huh?" He asked.
The woman just continued to smile before she turns around and walked away toward two guards in dark grey armor.
"Take him," she ordered.
The two guards closed on toward Oscar and at that moment, Oscar knew what to do. He turned and ran away.
He jumped off the stage and ran through the crowd as the Guards chased after him. Oscar kept running through the crowd, as he did, the guards chased after him, however, the hooded figure stepped in front of them and drew their sword.
"I'm afraid I can't let you go any father," they told the guards.
"Who are you?" They asked the hooded figure.
"Just a Knight in service of his King," They said.
Oscar ran through the city, getting as far away from the center of the city as he could, however, as he passed down one alley, he was grabbed by the back of the shirt and dragged into the alley and he then felt a hand cover his mouth. He struggled but then stopped when he saw some guards run past the alleyway.
"Do not be afraid, Oscar, I am a friend," came a voice that clearly belonged to a man.
The man then led him to the back of the alley and at the end of it was a door, and the man pushed Oscar inside before entering himself and closing the door behind him.
Oscar turned to look at the man only to see him in a black cloak. "Who are you?" Oscar asked.
The figure then removed the hood, and turned to Oscar with a soft smile, "A friend of your family," He said. "My name is Ozpin," Ozpin told him.
Oscar was still confused, but then the front door opened, and being thrown into the house were Yang and Ruby, and behind them, in walked another hooded cloaked figure.
Ozpin looked at the figure, "We're you followed?" Ozpin asked them.
The 2nd hooded figure turned to Ozpin and took off his hood, revealing himself to be a young man around Yang's age with blonde hair that was in a ponytail. "No, the only ones following me were these two after I dealt with a few of the guards," He told Ozpin.
Ozpin gave him a quick nod, "Good," he replied.
Yang and Ruby got to their feet and Ruby was the first to speak.
"What is going on!? Who are you!?" She asked.
Ozpin turned to her, "All will be explained in time, Ruby Rose," Ozpin told her. "We needed to get back to Taiyang and inform him of what has happened.
Yang looked at Ozpin, "You know our dad?" Yang asked.
Ozpin nodded, "He and I are old friends," Ozpin replied, he then turned back to the young man. "Jaune, gather the others and meet us on Patch, understood?" Ozpin asked.
"Of course," Jaune replied, "But will you be fine alone, Ozpin?" Jaune asked.
Ozpin chuckled, "You forget who I am, Jaune," Ozpin said, "I may be old, but I still know how to fight," He told Jaune.
Jaune gave him a quick nod and he then looked at Oscar, "Be safe out there, Oscar," Jaune said with a smile.
Jaune put on his hood and left the building. Ozpin then told the three teens to lead him to their father and they agreed and quickly left the building, and the three led Ozpin to the shop where their father would be.
Thankfully, they had arrived without getting the guard's attention and found Tai, who was still at the shop, they quickly ran over to their father and called out to him.
"Dad! Dad!" Oscar cried out.
Tai turned around and saw his children and smiled, but his expression quickly changed when he saw Ozpin behind them and then he saw the sword in Oscar's hand. "It's happened..." Tai muttered.
Ozpin approached Tai, "No is not the time to freeze, Taiyang, We have to leave now, The witch has seen Oscar and Watt's men are after Oscar," Opzin told him, "Vale is not safe,"
Tai looked at him, "And how do you suppose we leave Vale? The Ferry doesn't leave for another 2 hours," Tai said.
Opzin smiled, "A Wizard always has his ways," Ozpin told him as he took out his cane and held it out and he looked at all of them, "Put your hands on my cane," He told them
They all did so, grabbing one part of his cane and Ozpin began to chant something before a blue light surrounded them, and in an instant, they found themselves back on Patch, specifically, they were back at the farm.
Tai quickly began walking back to his house and his three children ran after him.
"Dad! Dad! What the hell is going on!?" Yang asked.
"Who is he!? How does he know you!? How did we get home!?" Ruby asked.
Oscar glared at his father, "DAD!" Oscar shouted.
Tai stopped and slowly turned around to look at his son.
Oscar looked at his father with a confused and scared look, "What is going on?" he asked.
Tai looked at his son and let out a sigh, "Oscar... everything I told you about how we found you was a lie, we didn't find you abandoned in the woods, you see, it was Ozpin who brought you to me and Summer, he told us to rais you like our own and to keep who you really are a secret until the right moment, and it looks like that moment is now," Tai said.
"Who... Who I really am?" Oscar asked, "What do you mean? Who am I?" Oscar asked.
Tai walked closer to his son and rested his hand on Oscar's soldier, "That sword was put into that stone as a test, a test to find the born king, the true ruler of Vale," Tai said. "You are Oscar Pine, only son of King Alexander Pine, and heir to the Vale throne,"
Oscar was shocked as were his sisters, and Oscar looked at the sword and saw the reflection of his eyes in the blade. "I... am a King?" Oscar asked as he continued to look at the blade.
"You are a King... my King," The lady's voice whispered in his ear.
It was from this point on that the legend of the boy king, Oscar Pine, would begin...

As you guessed, this is based on King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable but told differently. Here are the characters:
Oscar = Arthur.
Ozpin = Merlin.
Jaune = Gawain
Funny enough, Ruby and Yang are based on two knights of the round table.
Ruby = Percival
Yang = Lamorak
If you can guess who Watts is based on good for you! Cinder isn't really based on anybody in Arthurian legend. Also, I got so into making this story, I created a family tree for Oscar!
If you wanna see it go check out the story on Wattpad!
Anyway! I hope you enjoyed it and are ready for the next chapter!
