thunderofdeath97: What?

Spedyalarm: That's one way of putting it, I guess.

Dreagon D. Dragon: Given Angela's character, she may not be THAT surprised.

ItsDaKoolaidDude: Just because it's a crossover doesn't mean there has to be deviations from the main story.

Disclaimer: I do not own The Elder Scrolls or The Inheritance Cycle.

He saw a young woman, bent over by sorrow, chained in a cold, hard cell. A beam of moonlight shone through a barred window set high in the wall and fell on her face. A single tear rolled down her cheek, like a liquid diamond.

Eragon rose with a start and found himself clutching an awake Daemon's arm, crying uncontrollably.

"It's alright, it's alright." Daemon said, trying to coax Eragon into calming down. The tears continued to fall from Eragon's eyes and he didn't seem to realize it until he wiped his eyes. "Why were you crying?"

Eragon tried to speak, but all that came out was a choked sob and he wrapped his arms around Daemon's neck, burying his face into his friend's shoulder as his body shook with uncontrolled sobs. He felt Daemon's grip on him tighten, and the sadness started to fade faster, replaced by a gentle calm. Under normal circumstances, this might have been awkward for the two friends, but after everything they had been through so far, they had become much closer than that, and right now, Eragon just needed the comfort of someone he cared about. At the thought of that, the warm presence of Saphira entered his mind along with Daemon's, trying to comfort and assure him they were there. That was all he needed right now. Himself, Saphira and Jayden. His little family.

Peace, little one, Saphira whispered gently. We are with you, always.

There was nothing but silence, save for the sound of the wind, cold and not a welcome feeling right now. he stared out at the horizon, sitting atop a mountain ridge. Before him was a great valley that stretched for miles and he was amazed at the sight. But he had seen similar sights before on other worlds. It was not the best distraction, nothing was. Nothing could distract his mind from turning to his companions, to the one that had become his brother in all but blood, to their mysterious new friend who saved them in their dark time of need, to... her.

It was strange. A few months ago, he would have never foreseen how things between them would develop to what they are now. But then again, he wasn't powerful enough to see into the future nor did he ever want to know what his future was. He liked to live it, rather than know it. But... she had come to mean so much to him. From strangers to friends to close friends to... what were they now? They weren't friends, they had evolved beyond that, close friends? Yes... but not quite. The answer stared him in the face, but his mind tried to react against it while his heart was trying to make him know what he was feeling.

She asked...no she pleaded with him not to go, but he had to. He was the only one who could get their precious package to it's destination on time. The werecat's message rang through his mind, plaguing him, taunting him. How could he trust his heart, when he was in such a state of conflict with himself?

Wherever you are, he whispered to the breeze, please be safe. Come back to me... The only answer he got was the lonely sound of the leaves as they danced in the wind, as it whisked away the moisture running down his cheeks, and carried it across the valley floor below.

Daemon's eyes snapped open and he sat up with a gasp, breathing heavily as sweat came down his brow which he quickly wiped away. He shuddered as he felt a tear fall down his cheek, and quickly wiped it away. He felt distraught, lonely. Spreading his mind out, he sensed Eragon next to him, Saphira where she was, and he calmed down. He wasn't alone, it was just a dream after all.

But he had never experienced a dream like this before. It didn't make any sense... but dreams never really do, do they?

Due to his senses still being spread out, he felt Saphira's anguish and Eragon's despair. The distress flowed out from Eragon while he slept. Daemon got up and went over to check on him only to find him crying. Confused, Daemon shook Eragon slightly and whispered his name, "Eragon? Eragon are you alright?"

Eragon woke up with a startle and grabbed hold of Daemon's arm rather tightly.

Confused, worried, but sensing that his friend needed comfort, he tightened his arms around him. He felt Saphira join in with him and their minds connected, all three together.

The fire was warm and a comforting feeling. They didn't have to worry about those that pursued them, for they had long left them behind. She felt a sense of security thanks to the large mountains around them, she had her precious little one at her side, so why was she feeling so... depressed? She shouldn't be feeling this way. She had her little one, their new friend and... and...

Oh, he wasn't there anymore.

The reminded of his absence brought her to how she felt for him, the feelings she had developed for him. He had been a great friend to her, and because of his new 'gifts;, they spent more time together than normally. She had even come to see him as she did her partner-of-her-mind; she cared about him like he was a part of her. But...had she really come to see him that way? She tried to rationalize why she felt this way, tried to give it a different name...it was no use. She knew how she felt.

Heartbroken. that was the word.

They knew he had to leave, he was the one who came up with the idea, who volunteered, despite them protesting but he had been stubborn and would not accept it any other way. He made it clear he was going, and they had no choice but to accept his decision. She remembered that he spent his last moment with her, as she pleaded with him not to go, begged him that she didn't want him to leave them... leave her. He promised, vowed, they would see each other again. She then watched as he left and it hurt... especially when he did not look back.

She raised her head to the sky as the tears rolled down, the stars clear and bright. She wondered if he was looking at the same stars, wherever he was. I'm going to tell him, she vowed to herself. I swear Ancestors...if you bring him back to me...I'm going to tell him how I feel. She closed her eyes and hummed sadly, her silent prayer echoing in her head. A gentle wind whispered softly across the camp, almost as if answering her, and she felt a curious sensation as the oddly moist breeze brushed lightly against her scales...

Saphira's eyes snapped open and she lifted her head, looking around wildly and on alert. Her eyes glistened with tears that fell against her will, though she couldn't explain why a dream would make her feel like this, to the point she was crying. She had experienced bad dreams before, but never one quite like this. All she knew was that this dream had made her feel so... empty, so vulnerable. But what did it mean? She shouldn't be feeling this way, feeling so weak! She was a dragon! She must be strong! For Eragon, and her friends Daemon and Brom. She started to calm down her raging mood, it was just a dream, after all. It might have made no sense, but dreams never really made sense, right?

To reassure herself, she reached out with her mind and felt the comforting embrace of both Eragon and Daemon's minds, and she sighed in relief. Everything was as it should be.

But then she felt something else, negative and feelings of despair from her two boys. Similar emotions to her own, actually. it appears she wasn't the only one experiencing a not so peaceful sleep due to bad dreams. She kept her mind connected to her boys and sent them waves of comforting feelings that they sent back, all three of them trying to comfort and reassure each other out of their dark moods. As she did so, Saphira's mind went back to the dream she had,

Was the heartbroken one in her dream... her?

And that's it for this chapter everyone. It might not be much, but it's to add some drama and stuff to the story.
