Rachel Berry had always prepared for this very moment. She stood on the steps of McKinley High School, waiting for the very moment infront of her. She had always thought about what it would look like, what it would feel like to enter high school for the first and very last time. She had planned the perfect outfit for the occasion, waking up extra early to curl her hair and look good for the moment. All she needed was her best friend to be by her side for this moment, then it would all be perfect.
The brown haired girl looked around, waiting to see Kurt hummel in his fabulous matching outfit to pop out of a limo she had planned, but alas, he was a no show. She assumed that he was meeting up with his boyfriend at the local coffee shop The Lima Bean as Kurt and him didn't go to the same school together.
Rachel took at the watch on her wrist, turning her attention back to the black metal doors one last time. Her mind chipped at her to go on and make her big entrance without Kurt, so she followed that advice. She took a big inhale before stepping foot into the musty hallway that she had grown to love for the past four years.
Kids hung around the lockers and the outer layers of doors before the first period truly started. She smiled at all the young faces before her, which reminded her of herself in the younger years. She walked towards the trophies that lined the hallways-awards and names that would be solidified in gold, bronze and silver forever.
Her own reflection peered back at her in the glass. She saw her own name on one of those trophies, being among the greats that went to McKinley High School in Ohio. She was ready.
(Rachel looks at herself in the reflection, seeing her name on all the trophies in the glass case)
I want to leave my footprints on the sands of time
Know there was something that, something that I left behind
When I leave this world, I'll leave no regrets
Leave something to remember, so they won't forget
(Rachel begins walking away and parting from the case. She begins looking off into the distance, looking up at the faculty pictures and rooms that are "In Memoriam of''. The music begins to build up as it comes to an ultimate ending. Rachel does the riffs at the end.)
I was here, I lived, I loved, I was here
I did, I've done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know I was here
Rachel was soon snapped out of her fantasy when she felt her head crash into someone else, causing the girl to tumble back. The starlet's head began to pound, pressing the palm of her hand against her forehead. In all honesty, the bump didn't hurt, but Rachel had a flare for the dramatics.
"Oh-are you okay?" A mousy voice asked. Papers and books went flying down onto the hallway floor. Heavier books came down to a crash, but the lighter notebooks slid across the floor.
Rachel nodded, realizing that it was just a lowly freshman she bumped into. "Yes, just next time you really need to watch where you're going."
The freshmen quickly grabbed all her nearby papers and books, scrambling to gather them all before the first period bell. "You actually bumped into me."
Rachel brushed off her dress, ignoring the comment made. She still needed to look good for all of her first day of senior year.
The girl stood up, hugging the books and papers close to her chest. "Hey, you're in the New Directions, right?"
Rachel smiled, placing a hand on her chest. "Why yes, I knew someone would recommend me because of my amazing songwriting talent and vocal performance."
The girl's blue eyes darted off to the side, not being able to look Rachel in the eye for the whole conversation. "I actually know you from that video of you kissing your boyfriend during Nationals."
Rachel's smile dropped. "Oh." A little chuckle slipped out, trying to cover up the awkwardness that she was in a viral video-and not for her singing like she had always hoped to be. But some fame was better than none.
"But you were really good in the beginning of the video. It kinda made me want to join the New Directions-the song not the video." The freshmen said, trying to cheer Rachel up.
Rachel plastered back on a smile, making sure that nothing would break her stride on her last-first day of school. "Well, I could always use more back up vocals. The more harmonies the better."
The freshmen opened her mouth to say something, but Rachel continued. "What's your name?"
"Marley-" She said, gripping the books tighter to her chest.
Rachel tossed her hair over her shoulder, almost ignoring that the girl even said her name. "Well, New Direction auditions are today after school. So I hope to see you there." With a smile, Rachel touched Marley's shoulder to walk past her. Rachel's nose stuck up high in the air, not letting a little bump in the road ruin her senior year.
Even if it hasn't gone exactly how she planned it.
Kurt sat in the local coffee shop, The Lima Bean, with his boyfriend, Blaine. Blaine had gone to a different school, Dalton Academy, which was 2 hours away. But Blaine didn't mind coming all the way down there for Kurt. Ever since Kurt transferred out of Dalton Academy the two boys tried to make every minute of their time count together. So it was always worth it.
Blaine couldn't help but be drawn to the buzzing phone on the Lima Bean table next to Kurt's coffee. "Kurt, if you have to go, then that's okay. The first day of school's important and I know how being on time is important to you."
Kurt took Blaine's hand that laid curled up on the table, smiling. "I want to be here with you. I don't have a first or second period, so the whole morning is ours."
Blaine smiled, his cheeks burning slightly red. He took his coffee cup and lifted it up ever so slightly. "To your amazing senior year. You're going to have a great one."
Kurt lifted up his cup. "To senior year." The two clinked cups before taking sips, and wasting the morning away.
"Thank you, future New Directions!" Mr Schue said with a clap and a warm smile. His voice echoed throughout the auditorium where only empty seats and hopefuls had stayed.
"Possible future New Directions." Rachel chimed in from the back of the group.
The incoming kids all gave each other glances, not exactly sure how to take what she had said. Some kids there didn't even want to be a part of the club, instead just met the famous "kiss the missed" couple from the video. Others were football players that wanted to see Finn Hudson try to dance, since he never did in the end zone.
Mr Schue grappled all these thoughts back to him. "Our first step of the audition process is a dance call."
"Dance call?" Mercedes Jones, an original member chimed in. "We never had to do a dance call."
Mr Schue nodded, gesturing for two kids, Brittany Pierce and Mike Chang to walk foward. "You're right. But Brittany and Mike requested to do one as we need more dancers."
Brittany nodded, her blonde ponytail bobbing up and down. She played with the silver charms on her bracelet, not due to her nerves, but because she was never sure what to do with her hands. "Yeah, and watching some of the members try to dance is like watching a baby horse try to walk and it's really sad." She explained, her voice airy and light.
Mr Schue gave a look to the girl before moving on. "Alright, Brittany, Mike, take it away." He said, walking into the audience to sit next to Artie. Since Artie was in a wheelchair and it took a lot for him to move back and forth between stage and audience, Mr Schue told him that he could write down notes. It also helped a lot since Artie was planning to finally work up the courage to ask if he can student direct the musical this year. That's if they HAVE a musical.
"Alright everyone, I'm going to teach you a simple combination and then you will repeat it until Brittany or I tap you out. Sound good?" Mike asked the group. As soon as he saw the first nod, he hit play on the boombox towards the front of the stage. The senior stretched out, before starting the combination.
(Mike begins to sing as the rest of the kids on stage do the combination. He begins to walk in between people tapping them on the shoulder that they can sit down)
See the people walking down the street
Fall in line just watching all their feet
They don't know where they want to go
But they're walking in time
(Brittany begins to join him in singing and tapping people out)
They got the beat
They got the beat
They got the beat
Yeah, they got the beat
(Brittany goes around to people and watches them, freaking them out without knowing it and sings)
Go-go music really makes us dance
Doing the pony puts us in a trance
The Watusi, just give us a chance
That's when we fall in line
(Mike and Brittany sing again, watching a few of the fishmen, very impressed)
'Cause we got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
Yeah, we got it!
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
Everybody get on your feet
We got the beat
We know you can dance to the beat
We got the beat
Jump back, get down
We got the beat
Round and round and round
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
"I think we've seen everything that we need to." Mike said, crossing his arms and giving a smile over to Brittany. Brittany nodded, skipping down to the seats to snag a seat next to Santana.
"Where's Quinn? She said she'd be here for these dumb auditions so she could terrorize the freshman with us." Santana said, turning her head slightly to Brittany. She kept her eyes locked onto the stage, so the freshmen knew that she was someone not to mess with.
Brittany shrugged, playing with her charms again. "I dunno. Maybe her alien baby finally consumed her."
Santana finally looked all the way at Brittany, launching a confused look at the blonde.
Noah Puckerman overheard the conversation. He knew exactly where Quinn Fabray had jotted off to. And he needed to talk to her as soon as possible.
Quinn Fabray stood in the bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror, not just looking at herself now, but herself in the past. She smiled slightly, realizing that if her freshmen self saw her now, she'd be in awe. She not only looks different, but she feels different. Her high school career so far has been a rollercoaster, the twists and turns of it changing her and creating the person who stands before her in the mirror.
That's when she noticed someone else behind her in the mirror.
"Puck?" She asked, turning around to face the boy. She cocked her hip out, placing a hand on it. "What are you doing in the girls bathroom?"
Puck shrugged. "The girls bathroom smells nicer. But I'm actually here to talk to you." He took a step closer to the girl, letting his head lead the way. "You didn't text me all summer. I thought we were gonna see Beth."
"I did." Quinn says, turning towards the mirror.
Puck took another step, keeping his sight locked on Quinn. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Quinn began to fix her hair. "Because, Shelby didn't want me to. She had a problem with you having an ACTIVE criminal record."
Puck rolled his eyes. "It was juvie. It wasn't real."
Quinn turned to face him, leaning on the sink behind her. "Puck, Shelby thinks that because of your past, you aren't a good fit to be around Beth. And frankly she has a point." Quinn looked the boy up and down, her eyebrows raised.
"I'm her dad." Puck said, his voice getting brash and defensive.
"You WERE her dad. You aren't anymore." Quinn walked past Puck, heading out the door. "And if you want to be, prove it."
With that, Quinn Fabray exited the bathroom, leaving Noah Puckerman to stand there, wondering what to do next.
All the older members of the New Directions sat in the seats in the auditorium, waiting and silently crying everyone who sang on the stage. Rachel Berry was the only one who stood in the wings, watching all the new faces go out and sing their off key versions of songs.
"Marley Rose!" Mr Schue said, reading off the name on the clipboard. his voice bounced and bumbled around the auditorium, making the girl in question jump in anticipation. She wrapped her arms around her stomach, looking down. Breathing became a challenge as her chest tightened up. Marley let her hands go limp, shaking them slightly at the wrist.
"Marley, Mr Schue is calling you on stage!" Rachel said, gesturing to the empty stage.
Marley looked up and blinked. "I can't go out there...not as a solo. You're right, I can just...sway in the background." Marley let the brim of her newspaper boy cap fall, covering her big blue eyes.
Rachel stood there and thought for a moment. "What song were you going to sing?" She asked, the wheels in her head turning faster and faster.
"New York State Of Mind by-"
"Barbra Streisand!" Rachel said, her face lighting up and her mindset warming up to the new girl.
"-Billy Joel." Marley finished quietly, keeping her eyes down.
Rachel took Marley's hand, causing her to look up. "We are making your solo a duet."
Before Marley could answer, Rachel pulled her out on stage. She took the side mic that they had set up for extra volume for herself, leaving the mic in the middle for Marley.
"Rachel, what are you doing?" Finn asked in an almost hushed tone.
"Big Nose Berry can't help but make everything about her." Santana chimed in, rolling her eyes. Brittany snickered with her, the two girls locking pinkies with each other.
Rachel huffed. "No, she's nervous, so I took it upon myself to help her. Anyways." She looked over, snapping her fingers at the man behind the piano. "New York State Of Mind, by Barbra Streisand." She began to snap the tempo slightly.
The piano began to play the slow melody. Marley's eyes darted around the group before her, the lump in her throat growing larger and larger. Rachel cupped her mic so they couldn't hear the two discussing, or most likely, so they wouldn't hear Rachel telling her what to do.
"I'll sing the first verse and then you jump in." She said,
Before Marley knew it, Rachel began to sing.
(Rachel closes her eyes, imaging as though she was on the stage by herself. The piano melody plays softly in the background as her vocals contrast it) Some folks like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach
Or to Hollywood
But I'm taking a Greyhound
On the Hudson River Line
I'm in a New York state of mind
(Marley's eyes darted around the auditorium. Her hands begin to shake as she clutches the microphone. Finn notices, giving her a warm and friendly smile. The older boy makes a gesture to start singing, mouthing that she got this. Marley nods, before taking a deep breath and singing).
It was so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the rhythm and blues
But now I need a little give and take
(Rachel looks between Marley and Finn. Marley's eyes are closed, much like Rachel's before her-feeling the moment. Rachel's face becomes scrunched up with disgust as she jumps in as Marley sings with her).
The New York Times, The Daily News
(Rachel begins to sing over Marley, Marley finally opening her eyes and stopping. She looks at Rachel, who has now taken center stage to sing.)
It comes down to reality
And it's fine with me 'cause I've let it slide
(Marley slides over to the right of Rachel to be seen. The New Directions are confused as to what's happening. Marley sings as Rachel is caught off guard that she's continuing. They begin to trade off lines.)
Don't care if it's Chinatown or on Riverside
I don't have any reasons
I've left them all behind
(The piano tempo slows down. Rachel still tries to gain the attention and spotlight. Marley is still confused. Rachel sings at first, glaring at Marley. Marley keeps her eyes closed, invested in the moment before her. Once they hit the big note, Everyone begins clapping for Marley-thinking that they have all found their new glee club lead. Rachel becomes disgusted).
I'm in a New York state of mind
I'm just taking a Greyhound on the Hudson River Line
'Cause I'm in a New York state of mind
Oooh, New York state of mind.
Everyone erupted into applause, yet no one's gaze was directed towards Rachel, instead, Marley. The happiness and whoops and hollers filled Marley with a sense of pride. She finally did it. She finally overcame her fear.
Rachel on the other hand was furious. She was happy that Marley got over her fear but, as the crowd applauded the young girl, she thought one thing: Marley was going to be her new replacement.
And it was all because of her boyfriend.
Rachel was furious. As she walked down the halls after auditions, the anger and fear boiled up inside of her, ready to burst out.
"I'm not sure why you're so mad-" Finn admitted as he walked behind his girlfriend, carrying her bag as well as his.
Rachel stopped, turning on her heels. "I'm mad that you were paying attention to her and not me."
Finn stood there, blinking. Unsure what exactly to say.
The brown haired girl crosses her arms, a huff exhaling from deep within. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
Before Finn could plead his case as though in court, Rachel continued. "And I want a good boyfriend by the end of the year so you better start to support me a little more."
The words sank into Finn more and more. The words swirled around his head, trying to get them all in a coherent order. Finally, as though pieces to an imperfect puzzle, he got it.
"Wait, you just want me to be your puppy dog boyfriend all year? Is that the reason you're still dating me?" He asked, furrowing his brows. He leaned foward towards the girl, his face inches away from hers.
Rachel took a step back. "Finn, you're dwelling on the unimportant things at the moment-" She said, pushing her hands out and taking a step back herself.
Finn stood up straight. His face began to burn red, coming to full understanding with what Rachel was saying to him. "No, I'm not. I'm not gonna be some picture on your dreamboard, Rachel. And personally, I'm sick of you bossing me around."
Rachel froze, her heart beating fast and heavy. "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying we're done, Rachel."
Those five words not only were the reason Finn Hudson walked away, but the reason Rachel Berry was left frozen in the hallways. Tears streamed down her face. She didn't make a sound, except her light breathing. It didn't hit her that they were done.
And it was all because of the freshmen, Marley Rose.
Puck couldn't help but watch the cheerleaders during practice. They practiced on the corner of the field, as though it was planned out to make sure the player did as bad as possible. He is usually linked to just watching Quinn Fabray however, as she was always the prettiest on the team. He still walked over to them to scope out the new Cheerios, most couldn't compare to their captain.
"Hey ladies. I see that some of you haven't gotten a taste of the Puck-Master. No worries, you will soon. I'm irresistible." He said, leaning one arm on the bleachers next to him.
"What a pig," A blonde younger Cheerio snarked. "You're right, I wouldn't want him to see my child either since he sounds like a complete pervert."
The girls snickered, Quinn joining them as she took a sip from her Cheerio themed water bottle.
Puck's eyes grew big, pulling the captain by her elbow close to him. "You told them? What the hell?"
"I mentioned it in our group bonding experience." Quinn said without hesitation.
Puck rolled his eyes. "Oh you mention that I'm a bad guy but not that you're not even supposed to be their captain this year? That you were on your knees begging Sue to put you back on the squad?"
Quinn's green eyes ran back and forth between the chattering Cheerios and Puck, hoping and praying her secret won't reach the group not too far from them. However, she didn't realize that one blonde cheerio had been listening in.
"Look, I told them the truth. Beth's dad is a criminal. That's why Shelby doesn't want you around." Quinn said through her teeth.
Puck pressed his finger against his chest. "I'm her dad."
"You WERE her dad. Not anymore. Now leave me alone, I have to get back to practice." Quinn's ponytail whipped around, facing her squad. Puck stared at the group for a moment before running back on the field.
But one Cheerio, Kitty Wilde, knew exactly what she had to do
"Alright, I say we start out the year with a fun song. I know you guys have been requesting we do Adele for a long time-" Mr Schue said, passing out sheet music.
The sheer mention of Adele caused Kurt and Santana to gasp in excitement. Kurt because he had been the one asking for Adele, and Santana since she was a closeted fan of the artist's heart-wrenching music. That wasn't the only thing she was in the closet for however.
Mercedes looked at the song with a smile. "Oh, Chasing Pavements. You got a good eye, Mr Schue."
Mr Schue nodded, smiling. "Thank you, Mercedes." He looked at the group, most of them wondering the same thing. Their question would be answered with his next words. "Marley will be taking the solo on this one-"
Two voices, Rachel and Santana, blurted out a heaping "What?" as Mercdes yelled "Oh hell to the no!"
Marley shrunk in her seat a little, letting her cap cover most of her eyes. The last thing she wanted to do was cause trouble, yet it seems like that's all she did while in this club.
"Why does Freshie get to sing the song all the SENIORS wanted?" Santana asked, crossing her arms.
Rachel raised her hand, and without being called on, began to talk. "I think we should have a sing off, the winner gets to sing the solo."
Mr Schue held out his hand. "I'm not sure if we should-"
"Finally I agree with one thing that comes out of Berry's mouth." Santana exasperated. She stood up, pointing to Rachel, Mercedes, and Marley. "All of us will belt out a power anthem. Not whatever crappy broadway song Berry sings for the week. Whoever sings it best gets the solo."
Mr Schue went to interrupt and go against what the girls proposed ideas were, but everyone seemed to love the idea. Except for himself and Marley.
But it was too late. Everyone's minds were made up. The sing off was the only option.
All the soloists met in the auditorium a few minutes earlier than the rest of the glee club. They had argued back and forth about what song to do the sing off for, until a few of them, specifically Mercedes and Santana, came up with a song.
"Have we come to a conclusion as to what song we'd sing?" Marley asked.
"Let's Hear It For The Boy. It would work well for all of us." Mercdes explained. Although she was battling against the younger girl, she couldn't help but feel sympathy for her.
Rachel looked at the incoming group noticing Finn. The tall boy avoids eye contact with the girl, and begins to goof around with his friend Puck, who was avoiding a girl of his own. "This isn't a fair fight. Many of our voters have a vendetta against me."
"Shocker." Santana said, with an eye roll. "We came to this agreement, so it's too late to change it now."
Mr Schue passed around pieces of paper to the kids, to write down their votes. The kids would then slip it into the box labeled votes. He employed Artie and Tina to count the votes, as they had no reason to rig it in anyway. "Whenever you're ready, guys."
The music started, Mercedes starting off the song to get into everyone's minds.
(As Mercedes sings people begin to put their votes for her in the ballot)
My baby, he don't talk sweet
He ain't got much to say
But he loves me, loves me, loves me
I know that he loves me anyway
And maybe he don't dress fine
But I don't really mind
(Rachel then sings, trying to make eye contact with Finn. Finn keeps looking away)
'Cause every time he pulls me near
I just wanna cheer
Let's hear it for the boy
Let's give the boy a hand
Let's hear it for my baby
You know you gotta understand
(Santana pushes Rachel out of the way, giving her the side eye for taking up too much of the song. She makes eye contact with Brittany while singing and smiles. Brittany smiles and dances back. A few kids notice and look at each other.)
Oh, maybe he's no Romeo
But he's my lovin' one-man show
Oh, whoa-oa-oa
Let's hear it for the boy
'Cause every time he pulls me near
I just wanna cheer
(Marley then begins to sing, swapping places with Santana. She isn't looking at anyone, instead staring above their foreheads. She's a little stiff in her dancing unlike the others)
Let's hear it for the boy
Ah, let's give the boy a hand
Let's hear it for my baby
You know you gotta understand
Oh, maybe he's no Romeo
But he's my lovin' one-man show
Oh, whoa-oa-oa
Let's hear it for the boy
Let's hear it for my man!
All the kids placed their votes in the box. Artie took the box by the sides. "The winner will be announced tomorrow."
Puck shuffled through his bottom locker. He knew he had to find a book, but was unsure of WHICH book he actually was trying to find. He gave up, slamming the locker door closed.
"Puckerman." A voice said within the crowd of students that passed him. He looked over, unsure where the voice came from. He stood up, glancing down the hallway.
"Down here."
Puck looked down at the short blonde girl decked out head to toe in Cheerios apparel. She clutched her black painted nails into her hips. She reminded him of Quinn, except she was far smaller and seemingly younger.
"You wanna see Beth?" She asked, her ponytail bouncing.
"Uh, yeah. Who are you?" Puck asked, beginning to walk down the hallway.
KItty followed, sticking to his side. "Kitty Wilde. I babysit for Beth. I'd go when Quinn couldn't."
Puck kept walking but looked over at the girl. "You what?"
"Quinn has a lot of family vacations. We met over the summer, and she'd ask me to watch Beth when she couldn't and was scheduled to go." Kitty explained, pushing kids out of her way. "I'm going to see her over the weekend. All weekend. Think about coming if you want Beth to think of her dad as more than a deadbeat."
Before Puck could answer her, she disappeared within the crowd, leaving Puck with a question and dilemma of his own.
"Well?" Rachel said, her hands placed firmly on her hips in front of Artie.
Artie wheeled away from her on stage to address the group in anticipation. The buzz in the air became thicker and thicker, getting so loud that Artie's nerves began to react. "The winner of the sing off is-"
Rachel held her breath. Santana squeezed Brittany's hand. Mercedes leaned foward to hear Artie better. Marley clutched her seat.
"Marley!"
Everyone cheered for the freshmen, her face and energy sparking up. Mercedes and Santana clapped half heartedly,
Rachel stood there in shock. She lost. To freshmen. And everyone loved her.
Rachel felt her world stop, felt everything around her freeze. She felt like she was lost, like she wasn't the Rachel Berry she always thought she was. She looked over to see the glee club starting their number, with Marley leading.
(Rachel watches in anger and hurt as Marley sings and performs with the New Directions)
I've made up my mind
Don't need to think it over
If I'm wrong, I am right
Don't need to look no further
This ain't lust
I know this is love, but
(While dancing, Quinn notices Puck sneak out of New Directions practice of the song. Puck drives over to a small house where Kitty lets him in. We go back to see Marley smiling and performing with the group, everyone having a good time. Marley's vocals remain)
If I tell the world
I'll never say enough
'Cause it was not said to you
And that's exactly what I need to do
If I end up with you
(Kitty and Puck kneel down to play with Beth. Kitty gestures for Puck to play with her. Beth smiles, causing the two teens to reciprocate. Marley continues to sing)
Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
Or would it be a waste?
Even If I knew my place, should I leave it there?
(The tempo begins to slow down. Marley smiles and has fun with all of the kids. Race stands there and contemplates what she's going to do next. You see her get angry and clench her fist. Santana stares at Brittany and dances with her, garnering a look from Quinn. She stops and moves away from Brittany. Mercedes walks off stage and watches the group, already being fed up with being in the background and ready for something bigger. Marley sings)
Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
Or would it be a waste?
Even if I knew my place, should I leave it there?
Should I give up?
Or should I just keep on (chasing) pavements?
Should I just?
ooh, oh!
Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
Or would it be a waste?
Even if I knew my place, should I leave it there?
Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
The New Directions erupt in claps and laughter, high fiving each other for the job well done. Rachel fumed watching it all happen. She stormed towards the back of the stage, ready to leave and sulk, but Marley put her hand on Rachel's shoulder.
"Rachel, I'm sorry-" Marley said, her tone soft and sweet.
Rachel, whose back was turned to the girl, had enough. Her first week of senior year already went down the drain because of her. Because this girl decided to take over. Rachel swung her arm as she swung around, trying to get Marley's hand off her shoulder.
"Get off me!" As she said that, her arm went flying, her palm smacking hard against Marley's face.
Marley's cheek flushed red. Her hand went up to touch the burning area. The New Directions gasped, some like Tina and Mike ran to Marley to make sure she was okay and catch her when she stumbled back.
Everyone glared over at Rachel. It was official.
Rachel Berry was the villain of her senior year.
