Welcome to the first chapter of my very first fanfiction! I will try to make the chapters long for everyone and create a thrilling story that captures the emotions that the words represent. I hope everyone enjoys my writing!
In the POV of Haruna...
It was officially the day. I had been waiting for my letter to come in the mail for my acceptance to UA High, an academy for Heroes. I was transferring from China and the school said they would make a special allowance due to my healing abilities, so I was stuck waiting all month. But today was the day I got to read my letter and hope for acceptance to their esteemed school. I opened the letter and found a small disk in it. It lit up and a hologram of Recovery Girl appeared. She began to speak, "Hello, Haruna Isaki. I am the Hero Recovery Girl. I have been assigned as your instructor for healing and will be giving you special classes to train you on how to improve your capacity for healing. But all this obviously means that… you've been accepted to UA High! First day of class is in one week. We do have dorm rooms, so move in some time this week and get yourself settled. Welcome to UA High, Haruna Isaki."
I immediately went downstairs and told my parents the news, "Mom, Dad! I did it! I got into UA High!"
My mom and dad started crying and hugged me. My mom looked at me and said, "I am so proud of you honey."
"Me too son. You have worked so hard for this. Your mother and I have a surprise for you. Well, two surprises. One is waiting in Japan at the airport. The other is right here." He took a card with a note attached to it. A PIN number was written on it, "It's got enough Japanese yen on it for years. You will be able to afford anything you need while there."
I started crying and held him close, "Thank you dad. I'll be sure to use it wisely." I gave him one more hug and then went to start packing my things to take to Japan. After everything was packed into the moving van and I had my carry on and suitcase packed, I looked at my parents and embraced them, "I am going to miss you guys. So much."
"We'll miss you too, Haruna. I love you so much." My mom was trying to keep herself together for me, my father, however, was not, "I'm g-gonna *sniff* miss you s-s-so m-much!"
I hugged them tight and then, finally, let go and got into the taxi. I rode all the way to the airport and had my things brought to the boarding area. Everything was loaded onto the plane and I sat in my seat. Out of curiosity, I looked at the card balance online and almost had a heart attack. The total was JP¥272,143,000.00, an equivalent to $2,000,000 in America! My parents had put this much effort into making sure I had what I needed? I miss them so much…
The plane landed and I was met outside by a couple sidekicks and a student that was finishing an internship. She was pink all over and had… horns? Interesting. She looked very stylish and fun, so I introduced myself, "Hello, my name is Haruna Isaki. I will be studying with you this year at UA."
She smiled and extended a hand, which I took, before introducing herself to me, "Nice to meet ya, Isaki! I am Mina Ashido! Feel free to call me Mina! My hero name is Pinky!"
"Well, then please call me Haru." I smiled brightly back. She started squinting and said, "Uhm, mind turning off your quirk? It's very bright."
"I am so sorry! I sometimes don't have control of my quirk's response that comes with emotions!" I immediately calmed myself down and let the light fade away. She opened her eyes all the way and her mouth gaped open, "What's wrong Mina?"
"You're so pretty for a boy! I'm soooo jealous!!!" She exclaimed and I blushed, "Thank you. I don't get to hear that often." That I am a boy, that is…
We got to the school and I was amazed. It was so big! The gates opened and we went inside to get my dorm room set up. I made giant hands using my light and used them to float my furniture up the stairs and into my room. I was about to go and grab the last box, but I ran into someone and fell down.
"HEY! Watch where you're going, clutz!" The person said angrily. I got up and saw the person underneath me had a very angry look on their face, "I am so sorry! I am new here, my name is Haruna Isaki. I'll be more careful."
In the POV of Katsuki...
"HEY! Watch where you're going, clutz!"
Some bitch ran into me in the hall of our dorms and I couldn't see him very well, until he lifted himself up and off of me, "I am so sorry! I'm new here, my name is Haruna Isaki. I'll be more careful."
He bowed and offered a hand to help me up, which I took, "Welcome to UA, dork. I'm Katsuki Bakugo. Don't run into me again. Understand?" I looked at him menacingly and that's when I started to regret my choice in facial expression.
"Don't ever look at me like that. I've had enough of that in my life from people unable to accept me as being a boy. That look makes me think you don't have any respect for me. Change your attitude or I'll change it for you, hotshot." He was glaring at me with one of the most beautiful, yet terrifying, faces I'd ever seen. I suddenly didn't have the confidence to be as rude as I usually was. I nodded and made my way to my room.
In the POV of Haruna...
That guy really ticked me off. No one treats me like a piece of shit. I grabbed my last box and put the items in it away before signing the paperwork for the movers I hired to help me. They left and it was just me in the room. I put my more personal belongings where I wanted them, including a photo of my parents and I on my nightstand, and layed down. Classes started in 4 days, so I needed to be well rested.
The next few days went by and it was finally time for school to start. Everyone had returned from their work-studies and I had managed to make a few friends among my classmates. Mina, Midoriya, Tsu, and Tokoyami were great people and I was very lucky to have them in my friend group. Bakugo hadn't talked to me since I ran into him on my first day here, but that didn't matter to me in the slightest. He was rude and selfish, as far as I could tell, and I didn't want to listen to him belittle me again.
I packed my bag for school and put on my uniform. I met up with Mina and Tokoyami to walk to the school building together and head into class. I opened the classroom door and saw the people I had looked up to for the past year and a half, including my first ever crush: Tenya Iida. He was kind, respectful, and passionate towards others with a love for hero work. I blushed when I saw him and then rushed to my seat and hid my face in my arms on my desk.
Mina looked at me, then at Iida, then back at me, noticing the pink lights around me, before grinning and teasing me in a whisper, "You have a crush on our Iida?! That is sooo cute!~"
"Shut up!!! I-i don't have a crush on him. He's just my classmate that has amazing grades, a powerful quirk, sharp features, and really gorgeous eyes, and- NEVERMIND!" I hid back in my arms while she snickered and teased me more before Mr. Aizawa came into the classroom, "Everyone to your seats and quiet down. We have a new student today, come introduce yourself."
I got up and walked to the front of the class, "Hello everyone, my name is Haruna Isaki. I transferred here from China. Everyone please feel free to call me Haru! Anyone have any questions for me?"
"What's your quirk?" A girl with short brown hair asked. I smiled at her, "It is called Blessing. I have three separate quirks, technically. My first allows me to heal. I can also resurrect one person per year. Another one of my quirks is this."
I let my mind wander and little lights started appearing throughout the room, "I control light. Any object that comes to my mind, I can create." A perfect image of Aizawa appeared and then faded.
"So, that means I can also manipulate light to make images that seem completely real to others…" A dark grin appeared on my face as spiders started to crawl on Mineta's hands, "AAAAAHHHHH GET THEM OFF!!!"
The class laughed loudly and I stopped my quirk's effect. I then proceeded to materialize my final quirk, "This is the Book of Judgement. It allows me to deem people good or evil. It is, however, extremely specific. For example, if Mineta were to sneak into the girls locker room or showers, that would be bad. But if he did it because he heard an unusual noise and was trying to protect the girls, that would be good. It all depends on intention and fact. If he were to make up the fact that there was a noise, he would be lying– a bad thing. I seldom use this quirk, as it can always have a chance of failing what I wish." The class watched carefully as I stared towards Bakugo, "This is what happens when I judge someone. Katsuki Bakugo, you were rude to me and attempted to threaten me after I accidentally bumped into you, even though I apologized. This act of discourtesy I deem to be sin and shall be punished." Chains wrapped around Bakugo and held him to his chair, not allowing him a single inch of movement.
"While the person I am judging is being held, their quirk is deactivated and unusable. The limit is to mutation type quirks. I cannot change the form of someone's body. The chains only last a maximum of 30 minutes. Any other questions for me while I am up here? I have been told that today will be mostly used to get to know me so we can all work together more efficiently."
The class murmured amongst themselves for a second and then came up with their question, but Mineta spoke up to ask something else before everyone could stop him, " So why are you in a male uniform? Aren't you a girl?"
"Excuse me?" I looked at him seriously and he continued his question, "Well, I had my hopes up at getting a girlfriend this year since Midoriya and Todoroki have girlfriends, but then you turned out to be a boy. I thought we were getting a girl?"
I looked down and avoided the gazes of others, my past flashing through my mind. Tsu slapped Mineta with her tongue, "Mineta, you dumbass." I spoke up, "No, it's okay. That's a somewhat valid question. I'll get it out of the way. I used to be a girl. My name used to be Hinata, and I used to be a girl. I was often ridiculed by my peers for my boyish attitude and constant roughhousing. When I told my parents that I wanted to undergo the steps for gender reassignment, they put all the money they had into the most expensive surgeries they could. So far that now I am, in fact, genetically male. I went through experimental genetic testing and had my chromosomes altered. While I may have the face of a woman, I am a man. And I expect the respect that I deserve." I glared directly at Mineta and he hid behind the top of his desk.
"If that is all the questions you have, I would like to take my seat." I looked at Mr. Aizawa for permission and he nodded. I walked to my seat and sat down, folding my wings behind me. Class went as scheduled from there and no one talked to me for the remainder of it. Afterwards, I went to get lunch and hopefully put the morning behind me. Mina came to sit with me and punched my shoulder, "Hey there buddy. How ya doin'?" She smiled widely at me and then started eating.
"Good haha. I'm about to go to my secondary class with Recovery Girl after I eat. What about you?" I carefully picked up a mooncake I had made and took a bite.
Mina watched me eat the dessert and answered my question, "I'm good. I am going to the training room after this. Hey, what's that?" She pointed to the mooncake.
"This? It's a Chinese mooncake. The filling is vanilla and lotus seed. Want a bite?" I smiled and held it out to her.
She looked at it and took a bite, "This is delicious!!!" I smiled when she said that, "Thank you, I made it myself. The roundness of the mooncake symbolizes completeness and reunion. Next time I'll make you some too."
"Mooncakes? I love those." Rikido Sato showed up at the table and started talking our ears off about different ways to prepare them. I finished my food and excused myself from the table to go to my class with Recovery Girl. The nurse's office was surprisingly empty and spacious. I looked around and found Recovery Girl, "Hell ma'am, I am here for my class."
"Oh, hello dear. Please, just call me Chiyo. I am far too old to be Recovery Girl anymore." She looked up at me and smiled before handing me a couple gummy bears, "You are going to have your very first assignment today. You are to heal Midoriya whenever he injures himself using his quirk today. He often breaks limbs and causes significant nerve damage to his arms when he uses his quirk."
"Wait, how powerful is his quirk?" I looked dumbfoundedly at her while she just smiled more, "Oh, you'll see deary."
I went to the training area with her and was immediately brought to Midoriya. He had multiple fractures and severe bruising in his arms and was looking angrily at Bakugo, "Midoriya! What were you thinking, you idiot!" I started healing him and watched his arms bend back to normal.
"He said something about you that was unforgivable." I stopped at that, "What could be so bad that you did this to yourself?"
I heard Bakugo say, "I said that you should get your pansy ass out of this school and go join the rest of the gays at home." And then everything went black.
