Trunks looked upset at the party, and it looked like his father spent the entire bickering or avoiding his whore.
That would be pleasant to listen to on the way back to Capsule Corp.
Vegan decided that she did not want the headache that would follow, she hovered back to Capsule Corp.
No one confronted her about leaving when they arrived; she wasn't sure how it made her feel.
She sensed Trunks rushing to his room, his father running after him. Vegan lay in the guest room, the doctor and his wife insisted that she return to her old room, but she refused.
She laid to rest her life here, and all the sentiments that came with it, the old room would, might shatter her perseverance.
She also declined to make this space warmer; when pressed on the matter, she conveyed that she didn't want to get too comfortable here.
The statement put sorrow in the hearts of the doctor and his wife; predictably, it made Bloomer rage and storm.
Trunks just turned to his father with a pleading look, who only shook his head.
She shared breakfast with the doctor and his wife; then, everyone went their own way during the day. They all sat down together for dinner, everyone, minus her, talking about their day.
Vegan didn't belong in the Briefs' lives, not anymore; the months coming after the tournament told her that.
How easily Bloomer and Trunks substituted her with Yamcha; was she that interchangeable in their lives?
Did she mean nothing to them?
She hardened her heart to their perfidy, they didn't care for her anymore, and she had to get over it.
They were nonnatives to her now; she threw herself into this, her father was probably dead, but there could be others she could guide.
Others she could love.
Pathetic that after all these years, she was still that tiny girl who missed her daddy.
Her desolate heart longed for a kindred spirit, but Trunks and Bloomer forsaken her.
And kakarotto...
She ruined things with him as well...
'Oh, Goku.' said Eighteen as Earth's greatest hero stood on her doorstep. 'You're here?'
'I hate to come over so late-'
'Is everything alright?' asked Krillin as he rushed from the kitchen to the living room.
'I, um... Chi Chi and I...'
'Come in. Come in.'
Goku entered the house; Krillin led him to the couch as Eighteen closed the door.
'What happened?'
'Chi Chi put me out, but it's not her fault.'
'It's because of Vegan.' Krillin sighed, grinning. 'You want to go with her.'
'No, well yes, but me wanting to help Vegan isn't... Of maybe it is.'
'Tell us what happened.' Eighteen asked as she placed her hand on his shoulder.
'I told her something, and she-' Goku stopped. 'Maybe I should start from the beginning.'
'Go ahead.'
'During the whole Buu ordeal, when I was fighting Vegan, while we were fighting, Vegan, she umm... She told me something, confessed, I think is the right word.'
'What did she confess?' asked Krillin as Eighteen sat on the other side of Goku.
'She said something that I've always reckoned to be the case, but I chose to pretend I was too idiotic to see it.'
Krillin and Eighteen exchange glances, then look at him. 'What do you mean?'
'She told me that she loves me.'
'Whoa.' was Krillin's response while Eighteen shook her head.
'Yeah...'
'And you told Chi Chi? Is that why she threw you out?'
'No.'
'Why did-'
'Before she left, she'd been avoiding me. I wanted to talk about this, but she kept- the night before she left, I finally tracked her down.' he begins to pace the room. 'I just wanted to talk to her. I didn't mean to make her love me.'
'We know-'
'I tried to talk to her, but we started fighting, i- she- we were fighting, and I only wanted to speak, but we were fighting. She was on the ground yelling at me to leave her alone; I was trying to restrain her, and- and I was on top of her. And, and we- i- I was on top of her- I only meant to make her feel better. Before I knew it, I kissed her and.. and we slept together.'
'You had sex with Vegan?!' Krillin choked.
'I didn't mean to make her love me, and I certainly didn't mean to love her back.'
'Are you saying you're in love with Vegan?' asked Eighteen.
'That's exactly what I'm saying.'
