Chapter 2
Tim was sitting in his car unsure what to do, was he supposed to go in and rescue her or chase after the shooters? Tim decided he was going to check on Lucy as he still hadn't seen her head pop up again when his phone rang.
Sergent Grey: Tim, what the hell? What happened?
Tim: I don't know, one minute everything is fine and the next there are about 100 bullets flying in Lucy's direction
Sergent Grey: and Lucy? Is she okay?
Tim: I don't know, I haven't seen or heard from her since. Do I go in or stand down?
Sergent Grey: If you still have no contact in 1 minute go in, try not to blow her cover if you can, but most importantly just make sure that she's okay.
Tim: Understood.
Sergent Grey: I really hope she's okay
Tim: Me too. What is taking so long for her to show her face
Sergent Grey: You know what, go in now? Call me back when you know something. I already dispatched ambulances to your location in case they're needed, and I requested Bailey to be on the team.
Tim: Thank you.
Tim had a really bad feeling about all of this. He quickly hung up, turned off the car and ran as fast as he could across the street to the restaurant. As he was getting up to the curb, he saw Frank Tesca walk directly to him and he knew in his heart that this wasn't an accident.
Frank: Sergent Bradford, so nice to finally meet in person
Tim: What have you done Frank?
Frank: My daughter is gone because of you; my brother is gone because of you and now your girlfriend is gone because of you.
Tim: What are you talking about?
Frank: How did I know that Amber is not who she said she is? Oh, Sergent you underestimated me.
Tim: What happened to Lucy?
Frank: Didn't you just see; she was all lit up like a Christmas tree. She really was all pretty covered in red you know.
Tim: Frank you son of a bitch I promise I will hunt you down if anything happened to her.
Frank: You're going to go now and check on your girl and by the time you come back to find me I will be long gone but guess what Sergent so is Lucy
Tim could barely breathe he stared at this monster and then just ran right past him directly to the table where Lucy had been sitting only moments earlier. Tims heart broke seeing her lying on the floor like that. She had at least 3 gunshot wounds that he could count, and she was all covered in blood. Tim was screaming, crying for help. He was so thankful when he saw Bailey and her team walk in only moments after he did. Tim attempted to hold Lucy's hand, but Bailey pushed him away.
Tim: LUCY! LUCY!
Bailey: Tim, you have to let us work, let us try and save your girl
Tim: Try? Try? Try is not good enough Baily you have to save her I need her I
Bailey: I know, Tim. That is why I need you to give us some space.
Tim: Bailey please, I cannot lose her.
Bailey: then let me get to work
Tim moved out of the way and watched numbly as Bailey supervised the other paramedics. Inside he was screaming, crying pleading with her to wake up, to just open her eyes for someone to tell him that this was a nightmare he would wake up from and that Lucy really was okay. But in the background, he heard voices yelling
We're losing her
she's in vfib
Shocking
Clear
losing her
Shocking
Clear
Should we call it?
No
Bailey: Move out of my way, let me work
Paramedic: Lieutenant, I know she is a friend of yours but even if we do get her heart beating again there is too much damage, I don't think she will survive transport to a hospital
Bailey: Come on Lucy, come on breathe for me girl on my count one more time
Shocking
Clear
And then Tim heard it
Bailey: There you go Lucy, that's it girl, just breathe, deep breaths. Okay we got her back but she's not in the clear we still have to get her safely to St. Stevens.
One, two, three go.
Bailey helped the paramedics load Lucy onto the stretcher and then she turned back to Tim
Bailey: Sergent, we got her back for now, but it's still too early to tell if she will make it. Would you like to ride with us in the ambulance?
Tim: Yes, I do not want to leave her alone. I need her to know that I'm here
Bailey: Of course, Tim, whatever you need we will do our best, but we really do need to hurry were running out of time.
Tim: Okay.
Tim watched as they loaded Lucy into the ambulance. He could not control his emotions as he watched Bailey take her vitals and attempt to keep her stable when he heard the monitor flatline again
Tim: Come on Lucy! Damn it, Lucy! Come on Lucy not like this, come on baby please, breathe for me Luce breathe for me baby please I can't lose you now please Lucy please.
And while he was holding her hand, he finally heard the monitor even out and he was able to breathe again.
Bailey: Tim, we got her back but she's already flatlined 3 times if we lose her again...
Tim: No, don't say it Bailey don't say it. This is Lucy, she's a fighter, she's, my girl. I put her through hell as my rookie and she survived the whole year and will not to be taken out like this.
The monitors beeped again, and Tim was frantic, this could not be it, it could not be the end. This is Lucy, his lucy, the love of his life, how he wished he could just blow life back into her again.
Bailey: We lost her again! How much longer
Paramedic: About 3 minutes out Lieutenant.
Bailey: Make it 1, we don't have 3 minutes to save her
Paramedic: Copy that
But no matter how fast the ambulance went Tim knew it wouldn't be fast enough he sat on the bench next to Lucy holding her hand for dear life begging and pleading with her to hold on just a little bit longer, not to leave him alone in this world forever.
