The Warrior
Once, long ago on a distant battlefield, there was a great Dalek who fought nobly against the scourge of the Time Lords. He exterminated with fury and vengeance. He took down even the most noble of the Time Lords, the Daleks' worst enemy, the Predator: the Doctor.
But, one day, the Dalek detected an object hurtling towards the surface of Lorax, the insignificant little world he was on. He did not care whether the object collided with the planet and created a mile-wide crater that could damage the life on this world forevermore. He only cared about whether he got hurt. Whether he would survive.
He tried to exterminate the object. No luck. The object had some sort of force shield surrounding it, making it impossible to be destroyed.
There was no other way. No other way to save his life. His teleport engine had burnt out several cycles ago and he hadn't been able to recharge it due to his circuits getting damaged by a blast from a Time Lord staser.
So he let the object fall.
So he let himself die.
This Dalek was a coward. He should have found another way. He should have exterminated with all his might. He should have summoned other Daleks to his aid.
Do not learn lessons from this Dalek.
You will only exterminate, you will only kill, you will only vanquish.
Cowardice is inferiority.
Inferiority is not acceptable.
