Chapter 1: Summer's Arrival

Summer Roberts stepped out of the car and took in her new surroundings. She had just moved to Tree Hill, North Carolina, for her father's job, and she had to admit, it was a bit of a culture shock. She had grown up in Newport Beach, California, where the sun always shone and the ocean was just a stone's throw away. Tree Hill, on the other hand, was a small town surrounded by forests, with not a single palm tree in sight.

She took a deep breath and tried to shake off her nerves. She was starting a new school tomorrow, and she had no idea what to expect. Would the students be friendly? Would she fit in? Would she miss her old friends?

As she walked up to her new house, she noticed a group of kids playing basketball across the street. She recognized one of them as Lucas Scott, the star player of the Tree Hill Ravens. She had heard of him before, of course. He was a legend in this town, and everyone seemed to worship the ground he walked on.

Summer didn't really care about basketball, but she had to admit, Lucas was pretty cute. He had messy blond hair, piercing blue eyes, and a smile that could light up the whole town. She tried to shake the thought out of her head. She had just moved here. She didn't need a crush on the most popular guy in school.
