Chapter 1

A woman with alabaster skin, honey-blonde hair, and blue eyes looked over at the dark-haired man that was giving insight into everything that was happening in the Indian Ocean. Her heart pounded in her chest, she hated missions like this because they always unnerved her.

"The target is a mobile satellite launch platform: The Lemurian Star. They were sending up their last payload when pirates took them, 93 minutes ago." Brock explained to Captain Rogers knowing that this was something that they weren't going to be able to get past.

"Any demands?" Steve questioned rather concerned hoping that they would be able to get past this.

"A billion and a half."

Steve's eyes went wide in shock. Why was it so steep in the amount of money that they wanted? "Why so steep?" Steve questioned, finally voicing what was going on inside of his mind.

The honey-blonde-haired woman cleared her throat knowing that Steve needed to know this. Her black-gloved hands squeaked as she gripped her hands tightly at her sides. "Because it's SHIELD's."

Steve looked at the young woman knowing exactly that this wasn't a good sign. "So it's not off-course, it's trespassing."

"I'm sure they have a good reason," Natasha said, looking over at Steve.

"You know, I'm getting a little tired of being Fury's janitor," Steve said, looking over at Natasha and shaking his head.

"Relax, it's not that complicated," Natasha said, bumping her arm into his trying to lighten the mood up.

"How many pirates?" Steve questioned his blue eyes sliding over towards Brock.

"Twenty-five, top mercs, led by this guy. Georges Batroc." Brock said before bringing up the file that held the photo of Batroc. "Ex-DGSE, Action Division. He's at the top of Interpol's Red Notice. Before the French demobilized him, he had thirty-six kill missions. This guy's got a rep for maximum casualties."

"Hostages?" Steve questioned trying to get the headache away that he had started.

"Uh...mostly techs. One officer, Jasper Sitwell." Brock said, bringing Sitwell's photo up onto the monitor. "They're in the galley."

"What's Sitwell doing on a launch ship? Alright, I'm gonna sweep the deck and find Batroc. Nat, you'll kill the engines and wait for instructions. Rumlow, you sweep aft, find the hostages, get them to the life-pods, get 'em out. Let's move." Steve said letting out a breath knowing that they needed to do this and save the people that were on the ship without anyone getting killed.

Brock turned to his team and the young honey-blonde-haired woman. "STRIKE, you heard the Cap. Gear up."

The woman began to gather her gear up making sure that she had everything that she was going to need to join the STRIKE team.

Brock walked over to where she was. He put his hand on her shoulder. "You don't have to jump down with us, Mia."

Mia turned her attention to Brock. "Is it because of who my dad is that you don't want me to go?"

Brock rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Just because your dad is the Secretary doesn't mean that I think the worst of you."

Mia let out a scoff shaking her head. "You know my father put me on your team for a reason."

Brock let out a breath looking into Mia's blue eyes. "He wants to make sure that I keep you out of trouble."

Mia shrugged her shoulders. "Don't know why he thinks I'm safer with you." She shook her head lightly. "But I follow you into battle like always Brock."

"Secure channel seven," Steve said into his wrist communicator.

"Seven secure. Did you do anything fun Saturday night?" Natasha questioned looking over at Steve with a curious gaze wondering what the Captain had done Saturday night.

"Well, all the guys from my barbershop quartet are dead, so... No, not really," Steve said, shaking his head lightly.

"Coming up by the drop zone, Cap." The pilot said over their coms.

Mia took a breath through her nose knowing that something was very off with the whole thing.

"You know, if you ask Kristen out, from Statistics, she'd probably say yes."

"That's why I don't ask," Steve said, going toward the back of the jet.

"Too shy or too scared?" Natasha called out after him.

"Too busy!" Steve said, jumping out of the jet.

"Was he wearing a parachute?" One of the STRIKE men asked, looking over at Brock.

Brock smiled, shaking his head. "No. No, he wasn't."

Mia let out a soft chuckle as she put her chute on, buckling it up. "Get used to it." She said looking at the Strike agent. "He is always like that." She looked over at Brock. "Come on. Cap is waiting for us."

Brock nodded his head. "Miss Pierce is correct. Strike let's go." Brock said, waving his index and middle fingers in the air telling them to jump out of the jet and land on the ship.

Mia's hand went to the necklace around her neck.

Brock looked over at her. "See you still have that trinket."

Mia shyly looked over at him. "Of course I do. You're the one that gave it to me."

Brock nodded his head knowing that Mia had a soft spot for him since she started working with them. He then jumped down with her following right behind him.

"Bouge pas! Bouge pas." The French pirate shouted.

Brock fired his gun killing the man as he parachuted down behind Steve.

Mia landed behind him unbuckling her chute.

"Thanks." Steve nodded his head in Brock's direction.

Brock smiled a small cheeky smile. "Yeah. You seemed pretty helpless without me."

Natasha and another agent joined them on the deck. Natasha easily removed her chute as well. "What about the nurse that lives across the hall from you? She seems kind of nice."

"Secure the engine room, then find me a date."

"I'm multitasking," Natasha said as she jumped down to the lower deck.

"You know Captain she won't stop until she finds you a date." Mia mused softly looking at him with a coy smile on her face.

Steve let out a breath. "I hope you don't end up doing the same thing."

Mia raised her hands moving with Brock. "Wouldn't even dream of it, Captain Rogers." She said moving away from Steve.

"You know he probably won't believe you," Brock said musing with a soft smile.

"I don't doubt he would trust me," Mia said with a shrug of her shoulders. "Honestly he should only trust my skills, not trying to hook him up with dates. Not my type of thing." Mia checked her gun quickly. "Come on, we got work to do."

Brock nodded his head knowing that they had a job to do and it wasn't an easy job to do.

Mia slowly moved down to the deck below where the hostages were being held. She kept her footsteps light as she walked making sure that they weren't being heard.

Brock let out a soft chuckle. "Perhaps after this is over we should go out on a date." He teased the young woman.

Mia looked over at Brock sharply, her cheeks flushed. "Brock we don't have time for this." She said as she reached into her bag pulling out the bomb that they needed. "Shhh." She put her finger up to her lips as they moved to where a pirate was waiting outside of the door where the hostages were.

"Hé, trouve Batroc, si j'ai pas de nouvelles dans deux minutes, je commence à les tuer!" The pirate from inside shouted in irritation.

"D'accord. Je vais le chercher!" The second Pirate said turning around to leave to find Brock behind him with a stun gun.

Brock fired the stun gun before catching him from falling.

"Deux minutes."

Mia moved forward to put the bomb on the door. Her cheeks were slightly flushed as she put the bomb up in the right spot. She looked up at Brock and nodded her head.

"Targets acquired." A strike agent said over the com.

Brock pointed his gun at the bomb. "STRIKE in position."

"Natasha, what's your status? Status, Natasha?"

"Hang on! Engine room secure."

"Le temps est écoulé. Qui veut mourrir en premier. Hé toi! Prend la fille."

"On my mark. Three. Two. One."

The Strike team began to fire their guns and Brock fired his gun exploding the bomb and moved into the room firing his gun and killing the guy.

Mia came into the room looking at Sitwell that looked rather proud.

"I told you, SHIELD doesn't negotiate," Jasper said with a smile.

Mia quickly began to get them out of their binds. She looked up at him. "Okay, we're on the move."

Brock nodded his head. "Hostages en route to extraction. Romanoff missed the rendezvous point, Cap. Hostiles are still in play."

"Shit, you gotta be kidding me." Mia groaned moving quickly to make sure that the hostages were safe.

"Natasha, Batroc's on the move. Circle back to Rumlow and Pierce and protect the hostages. Natasha!"

"Captain Rogers we'll be fine if Natasha can help them," Mia told Captain Rogers, knowing that they needed help or not.

Brock let out a breath as he walked with Mia. "I know you think we can handle it Mia, but there might be too many for us to handle."

"Come on Brock, where's your adventure side?" She questioned with a coy smile as she fired her gun killing a Frenchman that tried to go after them. "We were trained well in what we do. So shall we do our jobs?" She moved the hostages quickly to the extraction point. "Go go go." She told them as she made sure that they one by one got onto the aircraft safely. "Brock make sure that no one is following us."

Brock nodded his head. "We really should go out for dinner after this," Brock said, giving her a cheeky smile.

"And be told that you're dating a daughter of a higher-up to make sure that you get a better job?" Mia questioned as she got Jasper onto the aircraft.

"Who could think that?"

"Anyone could, Brock. You know it." She said, shaking her head lightly. She didn't like the idea that he was so willingly going with the idea of dating each other.

"What's wrong with us going out for dinner?"

Mia simply shook her head when she heard a blast. Her eyes widened in shock. "Captain Rogers, are you alright?"

"Are the hostages safe?"

"Yes, Captain Rogers, they're safe and all on board."

"We're headed your way now."

"Affirmative." She looked at Brock. "Come on. We need to load ourselves in. Natasha and Captain Rogers will be with us soon."
