And I thank you for all that you have blessed us with.

Luz Meets Two Dads

A world of darkness surrounds a small sphere of light as it passes through from another world. It soon came upon a place that floating black cubes with lights emanating from them and jagged rocks all around. The little light drifts further down from above and to a body of dark water. When it splashed down, a young girl took its place. The girl was dressed in a white and purple witch's outfit, minus a hat, and was looking a little exhausted. Mostly because she had basically been consumed by a dark fungus from a corrupted human when she saved a small being called the Collector. The girl, Luz Noceda, opened her eyes and thought back to what she had last said to a couple of friends. She sank further down in the dark waters when realization hit her. Tears welled up and her lip trembled as she thought, Oh, I know what I should have said.

I should have thanked them, she regretfully thought as the tears escaped her when she closed her eyes again. But as she drifted further into the murky abyss, a three clawed hand shot down after her and grabbed her right arm. The arm pulled Luz back to the surface and to where she was standing. Her vision was a little blurry when she lifted her head and opened her eyes. Luz became a little surprised when she saw a shape that reminded her of Hooty and thought that he looked a little far away. But when her vision cleared, she saw that the smaller demon was actually really small and the tube portion of its body was attached to the eye of a familiar looking face. The left eye, the one that still had the eye, blinked as the being looked to her. A shocked Luz asked, "King?"

The older King look-a-like chuckled before shaking his head, "No.

"But he does get his good looks from me." He admitted while waving his clawed hand through his bushy beard. Luz took a step back to see him wearing a brown robe, a shirt that had Bad Girl Coven and the image of Eda on it and a pair of pajama pants that was covered in glyphs. On his back were a pair of big wings. Realizing who she was talking to, Luz's eyes widened when she said, "Oh. Titan."

"Oh, me." He laughed while pointing to himself, knowing how many times he's probably heard that. The Titan held out a friendly clawed hand to her, "Nice to meet you, Luz the human."

"You can't actually be the 'Titan' Titan, right?" She asked while shaking his claw. Then Luz tried to say, "You're the Boiling Isles…

"And that Titan is all-" She stopped herself as she didn't know of a better way to put it. The Titan new what she was trying to say when he finished what she was saying, "Dead-looking."

"Does that mean, I'm also-" Luz started to ask in dread and dropped to one knee. She started to sink again into the water. Luckily for her, King's father rushed up, picked her up by the arms while saying, "Uh, nope, nope. Don't want to do that.

"If you go under without a portal, you really will be dead-looking." The Titan explained and set her back down. Luz was very excited when she said, "I can't believe this. You're King's dad."

"I think King best said it once…" The Titan recalled from a memory of his son. His voice distorted a little when he repeated his son's words, "I am both King and Queen, best of both things.

"But Dad works fine." He chuckled while placing his clawed hands into his robe pockets. Luz looked about the place they were in and asked him, "What is this place?"

"This is the Space In Between." The Titan gestured to the realm around them. He was a bit of at a loss when he added, "Well, in between a lot of places.

"And I've been stuck here for quite some time." He told her while leaning down and plucking a cube from the water. Looking into the cube he sounded happy when he said, "But at least I can keep an eye on my child."

He showed Luz the cube and it played a few memories of King's life; from when she first met him, the morning before they went to the carnival and were making bread puns to where King, Luz and Eda were happy to be in each other's arms. The cube then returned to its original state when he gratefully added, "And those who have been kind to him."

"I'm not so kind." Luz disagreed when she turned away and hugged herself. King's father looked to her and released the cube in confusion. She then told him, "When I saw the Collector fly up to Belos," She felt so angry when she said, "I hoped with all my heart that I would see him blast him away."

She sighed as she clenched her fist. King's dad glanced away and thought about his own life.

"Hey. I can relate. I was willing to do anything to keep my kid safe." King's father admitted, knowing what she was going through. But he regretted it, "But I attacked the wrong person, dragged the Collector down here for nothing."

"Does that make us as bad as Belos?" Luz asked when she looked to him. This sounded ludicrous to the Titan when he tilted his head and asked, "What? Have you been drinking Eda's homemade apple blood?"

"Well, Belos says he's trying to save humanity. And we're saying we want to save our family. So isn't that the same thing?" She compared the two reasons. Luz felt a little lost when she questioned, "Don't- don't these feelings come from the same place."

"You assume that Belos' goal comes from a genuine place." He said, making Luz look to him. But he shook his head, "But that man doesn't care about anything but his need to be a hero in his own delusion.

"And because of that, he fears what he can't control." The two looked about the large cavern. Luz felt defeated when she lifted her head and said, "And now that fear is going to win."

King's dad looked to her with a sympathetic expression. But it changed when he noticed something approaching them. Pointing past her he said with a grinning look, "Well, maybe he thinks differently."

"Huh?" Luz asked before looking to where he was pointing. She gasped when she saw the hazy figure walking towards them. When the person was but a few feet from Luz and King's Father, they became much clearer to see. He was wearing a green shirt, brown pants and white shoes. Tears welled up as she stared into the eyes of her father; Manny Noceda. The Noceda man smiled when he said, "Hello, my sweet baby girl."

"D-Dad?" Luz stammered, so happy to see her father again after so long. She came closer and held out her hand to him. The young Noceda girl thought that this might be too good to be true. But Manny held up his own hand and placed it against hers. Luz gasped from the feeling of her father's hand against hers. With a joyous cry she launched herself into her father's arms and they tightly hugged each other. When they ended their embrace, Luz looked up to her father and asked, "But I don't get it, how are you-"

"Here?" Manny Noceda finished her question with a grin. He shrugged, "Well, maybe I was able to come because my little witchling needed some guidance."

His words caused Luz to laugh a little as she rubbed the tears from her eyes. Luz then asked her father, "I take it you've seen all my adventures lately."

"I've seen just about everything, mija." Manny confirmed with a nod. Then he sounded really proud when he listed all she had done, "You've helped so many people, made great friends and even found what you wanted to do with your life.
"I couldn't be more happy for you."He said while gently ruffling her hair. Luz laughed again and she pushed his hand away, "Dad!"

"Okay, okay." Manny conceded and removed his hand. Then he said, "You know, Luz. I wouldn't worry about being like Belos."

"Huh?" His daughter asked in confusion. Manny then explained what he meant, "The two of you may be human, but you've got something that he'll never have."

"And what's that?" Luz asked him. Manny's smile only got bigger when he told his daughter, "You've got what it takes to truly inspire the right changes."

Tears welled up in Luz's eyes again as she hugged her father again. Manny's smile didn't drop as he wrapped his arms around Luz again. From his spot on the side, the Titan couldn't help but smile at the tender and loving moment. But the Titan's happy look turned to one of concern when a green glow came from his chest. Knowing what was going on he said, "Aw, dang."

Luz and Manny turned to him and gasped at what they were seeing. A green splotch had appeared on the Titan's chest. And like on the Boiling Isles in the Demon Realm, this meant that Belos was hurting the Titan on this side too. King's Dad sighed, "I thought I had more time left.

"But Belos will have full control soon." He regrettable said as the splotch kept growing bigger. Looking to her with a hopeful look he asked, "You ready to stop him?"

"What? What can I do?" Luz asked, feeling that it was impossible with her in the In-Between. The Titan then pointed out, "You've already helped King so much.

"So let me use my last bit of life to help you." He offered his right claw to her. Luz became surprised when it started to glow and the four glyphs appeared on the appendage. A little nervous, she looked up and asked, "Are you sure that you want to give this power to me?"

"Well, you're the one here. And you seem like a good witch." He pointed out with grinning look. But wasn't going to force her, "But I can't give you anything unless you choose to accept.

"So the question is, will you choose yourself?" He asked her. Luz looked to her dad and Manny had a confident smile when he said, "If anyone do it, it's you Luz."

A look of determination formed on Luz's face. She accepted by taking the Titan's claw. The human girl became amazed when streams of energy flowed from the glyphs and formed a sphere of energy around her with the glyphs around her. The sphere started to levitate up into the air and King's Dad told her, "Now, Belos will be able to control everything. So you have to defeat him fast."

"But-" Luz started to say. But the Titan cut her off with a warning, "And my power won't last forever, so use your time wisely."

"Oh, but what about-" She tried to ask. King's Dad gave a guess when he said, "Eda the Owl Lady?" He saluted his respect to her when he added, "Send her my regards. Big fan."

Luz quickly reached out and it caused the sphere to descend a little. She reached out of the sphere and caught his claw. Then she clarified what she was trying to say, "No, King. What about King?" Feeling that this would be the only time she asked him, "Don't you wanna say something to him?"

The Titan thought about it for a moment, and then came up with something. Pulling Luz a little closer, her head slipped out of the sphere and he whispered what he wanted to say to King. Manny was a little curious what King's Dad was saying. A smile crept on her face and she wiped away a tear, "Oh, he'll love that."

She and Manny both became surprised when they saw the Titan no longer human sized, but now in his original, yet skeletal form. The Titan towered over both of them, no longer had any clothes on and the tiny Hooty was no longer in his right eye. The only thing that seemed to stay was the giant green splotch that seemed to continue to grow. The waters of the In-Between gurgled when the Titan began to slowly sink. The skeleton gave a growl as the Titan lowered himself onto one knee and looked down at the humans. Both Luz, who had tears welling up in her eyes again, and Manny watched as King's Father sank deeper and deeper into the water. Before his skull went under, the Titan bid farewell to his son's adopted sister, "Goodbye, Luz."

When it fully went under, the waters of the In-Between started to glow. Luz looked to her father and Manny smiled to her, "Good luck, Mija.

"I know you can do it. And say hi to your mother for me." He believed as he started to fade. And as beams of light started to envelope her, Luz closed her eyes as she could feel herself leaving.

Author's Note: I do hope that you all enjoyed this little story. When I was inspired to write it and thought it out, I started to think to myself, I wish that Luz's dad had a bit of screen time. Maybe it was something that Dana Terrace had planned, but we won't know now in the main series since that chapter has come to a close. I do hope that they do something in the future. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
