Chapter 2: Complicated Feelings

Ryan woke up the next morning with a feeling of exhilaration mixed with confusion. He had never been in a relationship before, and he wasn't sure what to make of the kiss he had shared with Summer the night before. Was it just a drunken mistake, or was there something more between them?

As he stumbled out of bed and headed downstairs, he found Summer already in the kitchen, pouring herself a cup of coffee.

"Morning," she said, giving him a small smile.

"Morning," he replied, feeling awkward.

They sat in silence for a few moments, neither of them quite sure what to say. But then Summer spoke up.

"So, last night..." she trailed off, her cheeks turning pink.

Ryan looked at her, waiting for her to finish her thought.

"I don't know what came over me," she said, sounding almost apologetic. "I mean, I'm not really into relationships right now. I'm just trying to have fun, you know?"

Ryan felt a pang of disappointment, but he tried not to let it show. "Yeah, I get it."

Summer looked at him, her eyes searching his face. "But that doesn't mean we can't still be friends, right?"

"Of course," Ryan said, forcing a smile. "I'd like that."

As the day went on, Ryan tried to push his complicated feelings for Summer to the back of his mind. He hung out with Seth, played video games, and tried not to think about the way his heart had raced when she had kissed him.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something between them. Every time he caught her eye, he felt a spark of electricity, and he found himself constantly thinking about her.

That night, they all went to another party, and Ryan found himself drawn to Summer once again. They talked and laughed, and he felt like they were starting to build a real connection.

But then, just as he was starting to feel hopeful, she disappeared. He looked for her everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found. Eventually, he gave up and went home, feeling a sense of disappointment and confusion that he couldn't quite shake.

The next day, he ran into her at the beach. She was sunbathing with a group of friends, looking relaxed and carefree. He walked over to say hello, but she barely acknowledged him, acting like they were nothing more than acquaintances.

As he walked away, feeling hurt and confused, he realized that he didn't know what he wanted from Summer. Did he want a relationship, or was he content to just be friends? And more importantly, did she even want him in her life at all?

Ryan knew that he had to figure out his feelings before he could make any decisions about their relationship. But for now, all he could do was try to push his complicated emotions to the side and focus on being just friends with Summer Roberts.
