Red Fangs and Brown Feathers

Sequel to Bleeding Wings. Anastasis must now stick with Dracula as they learn more about what she is. Meanwhile, Mary and Simon are confronted by a holy order known as the Guards of God's Throne, who are looking for Dracula. Once the Guards discover Mary herself is a vampire, Simon and her must get help from Anastasis while all trying to get along to save each other.

3. The Holy Hunters

Father Uffizi's POV

Receiving the task to investigate the incident at Carfax was an honor, though I would have preferred there to be no incident at all. If Dracula truly escaped as the Vatican feared... Van Helsing was an honorable guardian, but having not heard from him, he must be dead.

The group of vampire hunters, all members of the Guardians of God's Throne, had come together. The Guardians are five groups that hunt different vampires around the world in the name of keeping unholy creatures from tarnishing what is holy. I was used to working alone, but after what occurred last night, I prayed to the Lord that my new secret would remain with Him. Even now, I can feel the venom creeping in my veins repressed by God's holy light.

The antiquities store had been broken into, and Van Helsing, nor his assistants, has returned with or without the vampire. Matthew informed us of his daughter before he left. New Orleans proved fruitful for tracing the vampire. His vampire brides left dead and vampire all over. We knew we had all but him according to the local priest. Father David was close with Mary Van Helsing and informed us in the confidence of God that her and Simon Shephard were safe. Though I fear thru may not have told David everything. The woman Anastasis, however...Father David described her as, "The Devils Wife."

Lawrence Stoker, descendent of Bram Stoker, inquired, "Do you mean regarding her relationship with the man Mary was afraid of?"

Father David made a cross and said a quick prayer, "Her eyes changed color, blood red. But not like a vampire's from movies or anything. Red with black through it, like a demons! And feathers...fell from her jacket like they came from her." He gave us a handful, and we immediately feared for all mankid.

Kanir, a hunter from Russia, went off to report the discovery to head office while we warned Father David. "Monsters are as real as God and his angels. If you hear of monsters again, report to us immortality." He agreed as we said our goodbyes. The group set off to Mary Van Helsing home.
