In the Chinese city of Qinx Qinx, all was peaceful and normal. Lots of people, men, women, and children were walking happily to and fro, shopping, schooling, working and talking without a care in the world.

Sometimes, the children often read comic books about super-powered people known as superheroes who protect the innocents from evil villains who wish to threaten them. But of course, these books were only fictional and drawn on a piece of paper. So, in reality, there was no sign of hint there could be any way that someone would actually get superpowers and become superheroes. The only heroes they ever knew were the police, the fire department, doctors and nurses at clinics and hospitals, even parents who wish to protect their children from harm. But that was all heroes will ever be, and that is just plain normal.

But, one day, all that was about to change.

Outside the city's hospital, a car rushed into the driveway and skidded to a stop outside the lobby doors. Out from the door stepped a young man in his twenties with black hair and a young woman the same age as him with blond hair, looking in pain and groaning as she held her large belly firm. The man helped her up and carried her inside.

Inside the lobby, the doors burst open, letting the couple inside and the man rushed over to the desk with his wife in tow.

"Please help!" he exclaimed to the nurse at the desk. "My wife's in labor as is in need of your help now!"

"At this hour?!" exclaimed the nurse in shock.

"Please hurry!" he snapped, slamming on the desk.

Quickly, the nurse called for assistance, and it wasn't long until doctors and nurses rushed in with a stretcher, lifting the woman onto the bed of the stretcher. Together, they towed her towards the emergency room as fast as they could. The husband was there with them but could go no further as he was refrained from entering the restricted area of the hospital and could only wait for the time being.

Several minutes have passed by. But, to him, it felt like hours. He waited with an anxious yet hopeful expression that everything will be alright, for both his wife and the baby that's currently trying to get out. The lobby was dark, but he didn't care.

At last, one of the nurses emerged from the doors, approached the man and told her that the procedure went successfully and that his wife was okay. However, the day turned to night when the nurse came back again, this time to give news to the baby's health.

"Well?" he asked.

The nurse took a deep breath.

"Mr. Měilì," she began before smiling, "We've confirmed that the baby's a girl. And also, she appears to be totally healthy."

The man sighed again with absolute relief. But the nurse wasn't finished.

"However," she said, unsure. "There might be something with the baby."

"What do you mean?" he asked. "You said that she's healthy, right?"

"Oh yes, sir, very healthy," she reassured. "But... there's just something about it that we can't describe."

"What are you talking about?" the man asked again.

"Come with me, sir." she said.

When they got near the NICU, they could see a bright light shining through the window.

"Shouldn't the lights be off when the babies are sleeping?" he asked.

"Yes Mr. Měilì, but... well, the thing is... we don't have the light switch on," the nurse fumbled.

"You don't?" he said, confused before looking in. "But then where's that light co-aaaahhhaahhhhaaahhh!"

But the man got no further in his sentence when he saw that the baby was glowing brightly like a light bulb. He couldn't believe his eyes. He totally began to go berserk at this. Lucky for him, the glass was soundproof, so the baby didn't hear his reaction.

"Why is she glowing?!" he asked.

"We have no idea," the nurse answered. "We ran through tests, even x-rays, nothing."

"Then what could've caused this?" he asked again.

"We don't know," she said. "But it's likely that mendelian inheritance could have something to do with it. And as you know, that's when certain patterns of traits are passed from parents to offspring."

"Well, Zhě is always known to be quite bright," admitted the man. "But I never imagined it would be like this."

"Regardless, Mr. Měilì." said the nurse. "We are all human. And as time goes by, we are still constantly evolving. For all we know, this could be the next step in the evolution."

The man looked at the baby again, seeing that she doesn't seem bothered by the bright light glowing from her body at the least and she just giggled and cooed like normal babies did. It was like her body was her own personal night light. Somewhere, deep down, he wondered if she was right. But he knew fully well that things will never be normal again.

This is the story of how this girl became the world's first hero!
