Desi had received a message from Bucky in the morning and smiled at the news. He was finally given a mission with none other than Bruce, and he wasn't exactly keen on leaving. He was leaving suddenly early this morning, and her mind went back to their conversation last night.

Desi had walked with Bucky to his motorcycle after saying her goodbyes to Steve, but he still looked so distant from earlier.

"Are you okay?" Desi asked, and he nodded but she knew better.

"Stay out of trouble until I get back." Bucky said softly, but she smiled.

"I'll definitely try, do not who Deadpool is?"

He turned on his motorcycle, but his eyes never left hers, "Wait for me."

Desi smiled, "I'll try."

Desi sighed, but couldn't seem to get her smile to wipe off. She didn't care to admit it but she didn't realize how much she missed Bucky, or how much she enjoyed his company. Sure, he was silent and he had a deadly charming stare, but she wouldn't switch anything about him.

She was mainly concerned if he was mentally and emotionally okay. He said that he was but that didn't stop her from noticing the tired bags under his eyes from time to time. She urged him many times to stay at the compound and rest, but she could feel his worried expression. Perhaps it was a reaction to what happened two months ago?

Desi made quick pancakes when Weasel and Deadpool came back, their eyes bloodshot re but made no attempt to tease them as she plated their food.

"Thanks, where's your lover boy today?" Wade teased, making Desi roll her eyes.

"He's not my lover…and Bucky went on a mission. I don't know when he'll back, either." Desi explained.

"Good, he was always finding a reason to be here." Weasel stated as he woofed down his plate.

"Exactly! Which is why we should pack up; we got new apartments for us all." Wade said.

"W-What? Why, what's wrong with this apartment?" Desi asked, alarmed by the sudden news.

"After you left, there was an attack at the bar. It's more of a precaution, but the bar was severely damaged in the process." Weasel said, not wanting to alarm her.

"Is the bar going to be okay?" Desi asked but Weasel made an offensive look.

"No one is destroying my baby; we'll need some time to repair, but no going alone anywhere; understood."

"Yes, Sir Weasel."

"Good, now pack a bag- and dump the phones." Wade shouted.

"I need to tell Bucky-"

"The hell you are!" Wade shouted, "I don't think you understand how laying low works, Sweet Cheeks. Dump the phone."

Desi sighed and broke her cheap flip phone in half, throwing it into the trash can before she went towards her room. For the next few hours, they played music loudly as they packed up just the bare minimum before Weasel drove them to their next location, Desi following closely behind on her bike.

Now a little closer to the Big Apple, Desi was surprised to be given her own apartment down the hall from the others but had a spare bedroom. Desi was ecstatic to have her own place but when she was left alone to unpack; she remembered how alone she used to feel and worried if she was going to be okay.

For the next few days, she helped clean the bar and she still had yet to hear from Bucky. Another week had gone by and there was still nothing heard, but she didn't blame him. Was everything okay? Did something happen on the mission?

Was he satisfied that she was okay? Was he done with her? She didn't want to have ill-will thoughts, but she didn't blame if he didn't come back. She was in capable hands, and she would survive; just as she always did.

"IT'S A-GO TIME!"

Desi remain unflinching on her sofa reading her book when Weasel and Wade came into her apartment, Wade into his Deadpool suit once more.

"We found the son of a bitch who destroyed our bar. He works for Ajax, and if we leave now, we can get them before that asshole disappears!" Wade exclaimed as he pulled Desi off the sofa.

"Okay, okay. Let me go get changed." Desi said, smiling in excitement as she threw her book to the side.

Now she had something to distract her.

Arriving in an abandoned warehouse, Desi remained close to Deadpool as they explored. Searching for any information, Desi downloaded any files she could on the USB Weasel supplied her before moving on when Deadpool pulled her back behind a wall.

Crouching low, Deadpool charged up on a red-headed woman, and before Desi could recognize who it was; chaos happened. The woman turned around and pinned Deadpool to the ground with a gunshot to his chest, making Deadpool hiss out painfully.

"Oh my god, you shot me! You fucking shot me!"

The woman was freaked out for a moment as Deadpool laughed, standing up and dusting himself off when Desi saw who it was.

"Nat?"

Nat smirked in disbelief, recognizing Desi's suit before she made her way to Desi and pulled her into a tight hug.

"It's so good to see you, I've missed you."

Desi hesitated for a moment before finally hugging her back, making Nat even more elated to have her friend back.

"I'm so sorry, really, I was just hurt. I've missed you so much…." Desi whispered.

"I'm sorry too, I should've been honest but I won't do it again, Tiny." Nat assured her before pulling her away, looking over her carefully.

"I see you're here with the Boy Scout," Deadpool jested when Captain America came on approach, "What the hell brings the Avengers here?"

"We received a tip that an ex-Hydra agent was here with stolen documents of a possible new super soldier serum. What are you both doing here?" Steve asked, knowing full well this wasn't a random visit.

"We had a lovely visit at the bar recently. We received intel that this son of bitch is here, and he may have his some secrets for me. So, I thought we'd get his secrets before we kill him." Deadpool explained.

The Avengers looked at Desi questionably and Deadpool immediately pulled Desi with him.

"You two have fun, we'll stay out of your hair!" Deadpool exclaimed, Desi waving to the two as they walked away.

"Do you want to follow them?" Nat asked.

"Let's focus on the mission for now."

Things were never simple with Deadpool.

They found their guy, and he had friends. Desi and Deadpool fought against them, making quick of them before Deadpool finally tied up his target. Desi collected whatever data she could find on the USB as Deadpool interrogated the man.

Desi panicked when she heard an explosion above her and looked to Deadpool who seemed unbothered by it but she kept her vigilance until the floor beneath them crumbled suddenly. Desi landed with a large 'oof' on some enemies, catching her by surprise when she heard them groaning.

"Thanks, guys." Desi smiled with a cheeky grin before finding Deadpool dropped their man.

"Lookout!"

Desi looked up and saw the building dropping from above her.

"Oh, fuck a duck!" Desi swore as she ran at full speed alongside Deadpool.

Deadpool laughed at her panicking, "Is this fun?"

"I'm asking for a raise!"

"More chimichangas?"

Desi didn't get a chance to respond when she felt something on her back, losing consciousness.

Desi groaned when she woke up in an unfamiliar bed, hit immediately with the nostalgia of having the comfort of a bed but hissed as she struggled to sit up.

Take it easy, Tiny…" Nat said softly as she stood up, helping Desi sit up on the bed.

"What happened? The last thing I remember is running." Desi said, feeling the pain on the back of her neck.

"A piece of debris hit you, we brought you and Deadpool back. He wouldn't wake up so we brought you both back at the compound for now." Steve told her, holding the bag of ice on her neck.

"Thanks you guys, are you both okay?" Desi asked, clearly seeing the scrapes on their face.

"We'll be fine, you should rest." Steve told her but she rolled her eyes.

Without a second thought, she placed a hand on his forehead and sponged away his injuries. He stilled himself, feeling the long-lost peaceful warmth her healing brought him. He let out a sigh of relief, a smile breaking from his lips and Nat smirked.

Steve was fighting the blush on his face but his thoughts drifted to when he first reunited with her, dancing sexually on him and he felt suddenly self-conscious of himself.

Nat was glad to see him in such a way. That was the first time in a long while that he cracked a smile in front of her, or in front of anyone for that matter.

"Thanks, Destiny…" Steve said softly.

"Of course, Captain." Desi said before she placed her hand over Nat's, healing her just as quickly.

"The team has been dying to see you, don't suppose you're up to meet everyone?" Nat asked with an excited smirk and she was suddenly nervous.

"I don't know, it depends. How's Deadpool?"

"Sedated." Nat said with a smug look on her face and Desi giggled.

"I'm in." Desi agreed.

"Good, I'll bring you some clothes but the bathroom is right through there. Just come out once you're ready."

"Thanks, Nat." Desi said as Nat left the room. Desi noticed Steve staying behind and looked at him curiously.

"Yes?"

"Bucky said you're not answering his calls." Steve stated, hearing her sigh heavily.

"I don't have a phone…is he okay?" Desi asked.

"He's due home tomorrow, but he was worried."

Desi nodded, standing up as she took a deep breath.

"I've been waiting for him this whole time to visit…tell him I'm okay, yeah?" Desi asked of him.

"Desi, he's worried."

"Tell him not to," Desi told him firmly, "He doesn't have to check on me anymore."

Steve saw the same stubborn glare from the first time he met her, and he could only nod.

Desi had been able to take a shower and given some spare clothes; a pair of blue jeans and a black muscle shirt; glad she still had her boots still intact. Walking out of the bathroom, she had just finished braiding her hair when she saw that Nat was waiting for her.

Without a word, Nat guided her into the compound's kitchen and lounge area where she saw everyone stand up. It was the original team all over again: only Bucky and Bruce were missing.

Clint made no attempt to hide the crazy smile as he jogged up to her and twirled her into a tight hug. Desi giggled and hugged him just as tightly, tearing up as she realized how much she missed him; his presence and his smile always calmed her during their training sessions.

"God, it's so good to see you again after all this time." Clint whispered, kissing the top of her head as he was glad to see her after so long.

"I've missed you so much! I'm glad you're okay. Are you okay?" Desi asked, placing a hand on the back of his neck as she cast a healing spell as well.

"Oh man, I can't tell you how much I missed that." Clint said, smiling as he reluctantly put her down.

He touched the strands of her hair, scanning over her as if he was looking for something out of place; it felt surreal to see her back again. She lost more weight, but he saw her muscles were more toned. The brightness in her eyes seemed to have dimmed, but her bright smile was still there.

"Lady Destiny."

Clint pulled himself away, allowing Thor to place a hand on top of Desi's head. She smiled brightly up at him, and he couldn't stop his smile from her contagious one; he was glad she didn't lose that.

"Thor, it's good to see you again." Desi said with a smile, being respectful.

"You as well, I'm glad we were able to meet again.

"Me too," Desi hesitated, "how are you? How are Loki and Asgard?"

"Loki serves life in imprisonment but we are still dealing with the damage he has done, but Asgard is strong," Thor told her, "but we all fair well. I told my mother of you, in fact."

"Oh?"

"She wishes to meet you."

"Oh, I don't think it's necessary, really."

"Why would she want to meet Desi, anyways?" Clint questioned, but Thor merely shrugged.

"Hey, Angel."

Desi looked past Thor and she smiled sadly, chuckling through a sob as she fought through another cry when she saw him. Tony stood there, his face hardened but his eyes were torn, his emotions were conflicted. They were regret, happiness, relief, anguish, and torment.

"Sir Tony." Desi said, covering her mouth as she cried, walking over to him.

Tony wasn't an expressive man, but he hugged her, feeling a relief he hadn't felt in over two months. She was safe and sound for the most part, the letter being played in his head repeatedly, Wade's words of her waiting for his letter every day.

"I'm sorry, kid. I didn't know about the letter; if I had known, I would've come for you." Tony said softly, letting out a deep breath.

"I know, Tony. I know." Desi said before he pulled away, looking over her.

"You look good. Why don't you sit down and tell us what happened; spare no detail." Tony told her, as he guided her to the sitting area.

Desi explained from the moment she woke up in Hell House with Wade and Weasel, to the job arrangement they made, and the thorough training she received from Weasel and other mercenaries. She explained what happened with her family, and why she stayed close by; noticing the concerned look on Thor's face.

"Destiny the Mercenary. How is that working for you? Is the pay good?" Clint asked her, teasingly.

"I wouldn't know, Deadpool takes the commission."

"Wait, what?" Clint questioned, surprising the team, "Explain it to us."

"Wade pays for my living expenses, food, and any supplies for the mission; he keeps the commission."

"What about armor repairs?" Tony asked her.

"It's a fabric suit; I just commission for another; there's no actual armor to it." Desi admitted.

"And that night we met you? What kind of job was that?" Steve asked.

"A side job for cash; I'm saving up for furniture and clothes," Desi answered,

The team was concerned, but Desi seemed to mind her lifestyle.

"Also, I work undercover mostly. Singing and dancing in nightclubs allows me to read people's memories, I can get leads on people that can't easily be obtained. It's a win-win solution." Desi said in explanation, but she felt like she was trying to convince herself.

"Do you really enjoy doing that kind of work?" Nat asked, genuinely curious.

"I enjoy working with Deadpool more. He's been like a brother to me, or like an uncle to me, you know?" Desi tried to explain.

"Well, isn't this some shit?"

Deadpool walked into the room and waved at them playfully as he walked towards the elevator.

"We gotta go, Sweet Cheeks. Say goodbye to your long-lost friends, yeah? I'll wait at the elevator," Deadpool said, "Oh, and thanks for the bedrest. Very comfy."

"He's my boss, so I gotta go, but it was great to see everyone again…goodbye and take care."

"NOW, RAPUNZEL!"

Desi ran to the elevator, the team felt conflicted as she entered the elevator, the doors closing behind her.

"I don't feel comfortable leaving her with him." Thor spoke up first.

"You aren't the only one." Clint agreed, not liking this one bit. They were supposed to watch over her, and she left just as quickly as they got her back.'

"Think we can get a lead on them? See where they are staying?" Steve asked.

"I'll send a drone; I'll need to figure something out for her." Nat said.

"She chose to stay with him though, we need to consider she wants to stay with him." Tony spoke. He wanted her back on the team, but he could see that she was put in a tough position.

"She's a mercenary, so let's hire her- personally." Nat suggested.

"Son of a bitch, you're right."

When Steve and Nat woke up the following morning at the compound, Tony walked into the kitchen with a brown envelope to Steve and Nat, the team looking over to the loud slap.

"When did we start requesting our mail here, hmm?" Tony asked, irritated but Steve paid him no mind when he opened the envelope, a flash drive, and paperwork on the table.

Nat saw the note on the side and pulled it up.

"In case you couldn't get anything, here are the copies of what I found yesterday with you. -Archangel." Nat said with a smile, glad Desi reached out.

"What?"

The team looked to Bucky, who was already throwing on his jacket.

"You saw her yesterday? Where is she?" Bucky asked but Nat and Steve didn't answer.

"She wanted me to give you a message." Steve finally spoke, feeling the tension rising in the room.

"What's that?"

"She said she was fine…she doesn't need to be checked on anymore."

Bucky clenched his jaw, "What happened?"

"We had a run-in with some men last night, she and Deadpool were on their own assignment. She's fine, really Buck." Steve tried to assure him, hoping to avoid answering.

"Just give her some time, okay?" Tony suggested.

Bucky wasn't hearing it though and left the compound to look for her.

…..

Desi heard pounding on her door and covered herself with the blanket as she walked over to answer them.

"Wade, please tell me you brought the energy drink?"

Desi was surprised to see Bucky standing there, panting a little, his gaze searching her body before he searched her face.

"Bucky?"

He ignored her, pulling her into a rough embrace, gripping her tightly against him. Desi was stunned by his sudden burst, it felt so foreign for him to be affectionate so suddenly. Desi felt his breath on her neck, his bare hand grazing over her exposed lower back as his metallic arm wrapped around her waist, hoisting her up.

Desi closed her eyes, wrapping her arms around his neck when she was hit with his feelings and memories:

He was waking up, jolted in fear; he was having nightmares. She saw visions of her falling out of the aircraft, and being stabbed during a fight with Deadpool. Someone in the dream strapped him on a table as he struggled to be free, these were his nightmares.

Reliving his memories as the Winter Soldier, she bit her lower lip as she fought the urge to cry, feeling the pain he endured on that table. He was worried about her, but more than that, he was relieved to be with her. He was attempting to calm himself, but the nightmares continued to replay in his head.

Desi placed her hand on the back of his neck and sponged his worries, hearing him take a deep breath. He was slowly starting to relax, his worries disappearing as well as the nightmares replaying in his head came to an end.

"You're hurt." Bucky whispered, noticing the bruise on her neck.

"I can heal, I'm fine." Desi whispered back but he made no notion to let her go.

He hoisted her up, instantly wrapping her legs around him tightly when he walked her over to the sofa, where he laid her back on it carefully. She smiled as he tucked the blanket over her, watching him as he glanced over the bruise.

"What happened?"

"Someone nearly destroyed the bar, Deadpool and I found a lead but ran into Nat and Steve too. The building crumbled around us, we were safe but darn debris knocked us both out. Thank God our friends were able to get us." Desi explained.

"Why didn't you heal then?"

"A friendly reminder that I'm human, keeps me grounded."

"Heal yourself now, then."

Desi sighed but did as Bucky requested, resting a hand on her shoulder as he watched the bruise disappear. He touched over where her bruise once was, causing Desi to shiver. Bucky couldn't stop the knowing smirk on his face.

"So, this is where you live now."

"Temporarily, we tend to move a lot." Desi informed him.

He nodded but he bit his tongue. He knew it was selfish of him, but he didn't want her to move again. The thought of her staying with him brought his mind more at peace, but he was staying with the others at the compound. And Deadpool wouldn't exactly be happy with her being so far away.

He didn't want to admit it but he knew now, he was developing feelings for her, and he wanted to pursue her.

"Why not get your own place?" Bucky asked her.

"I don't have money, Weasel pays for all this." Desi told him, waving around the room.

Bucky looked at the apartment and saw nothing. He stood up and realized other than the basic appliances, and the sofa, there was nothing else in the room. He explored the apartment more; there was only one lamp, no towel; and her duffle bag.

It never clicked to him before but she must be wearing the same clothes on repeat, and that was a tough pill for him to swallow. He didn't expect this lifestyle for her but she didn't seem to have a problem with it.

"How much do you need?" Bucky asked, but she shook her head as she stood up. He realized it then that she wore the same jeans and tank top when he first found her in the street.

"I don't need anything, I'm happy with what I have."

"You have nothing; you don't even have a bed." Bucky pointed out but she shrugged.

"I have the sofa."

He clenched his jaw, and he carefully approached her.

"I'll pay you for a job."

"I'll have to ask Dead-"

"No," Bucky said, "I said you. I will pay you, personally. Save up for an apartment, or a bed."

"Well, well, Inspector Gadget finally found us."

Bucky looked annoyed when Wade and Weasel came in with bags of food, looking at the two carefully.

"Seems our little Destiny here is growing popular," Wade said, "Do you know that I call from Tony Stark himself?"

"W-What?" Desi asked, confused if she heard right.

"He wants to hire you for a mission for the week, and offered good money too. He wants you to report back at the compound tomorrow morning." Weasel explained as they took out all of the food.

"Wait, you sold me?"

"More like…leased out as a rental." Weasel said but Desi narrowed her eyes, clearly not amused.

"It'd be good for you to branch out as a solo mercenary slowly, I have to go to Tokyo anyways on a lead on Vanessa anyways." Deadpool told her.

She smiled sadly and nodded, knowing that was a personal mission of his. His girlfriend was missing, and this Ajax was the main suspect. He spend most of his time busting doors down, but it was more than that. As they got closer and closer to Ajax, the less he would take her on the road, making her work for Weasel.

"The apartment will be here for the rest of the month, but I'll let you know if we're moving again. I got you a new phone, but I'll call you if there's an emergency." Weasel told her.

"Thanks."

"I should notify the team, I should let you eat." Bucky said, Desi following him out as the men watched them carefully.

She held the door open for him as he walked out, looking over at her one last time.

Bucky panicked, unsure what to do, and took off his jacket wrapping it around her bare shoulders.

"Your apartment is cold, be sure to stay warm."

"Oh, thanks Bucky. You didn't have to...I'll see you tomorrow, then?" Desi said with a smile, noticing a small smile on his face.

"I'll see you." He said softly before he left with a sheepish look on his face.

She closed the door, looking at her two brother-like friends, looking at the duo in annoyance.

"He still wants to bone you."
