Subaru thought about a way to fix the memories of everyone. He decided the only option would be to find and kill the platinum-haired girl that Ddraig was referring to, then use her power to fix everything. If he didn't, if she disables the effects herself or something else happened, it would lead to everyone realizing what they did to him. Subaru only blamed the Witch Cult for what happened and didn't want Emilia or anyone else to suffer. He currently was walking in circles as he broke his cell door prior.

"He'll take you over," Sirius muttered.

"What?" Subaru questioned, as Sirius hadn't spoken at all yet.

"The Sage."

Subaru heard footsteps coming down and sighed as he didn't want to fight anyone and was exhausted after spending six hours trying to find a solution with Ddraig. When he saw the red-haired knight, he remembered how he showed remorse and seemed not to want to do what he was doing, unlike the others.

"Reinhard, are you not affected?" Subaru asked, standing before him as he reached the final step to the floor.

"What happened?" Reinhard questioned, ready to detain Subaru again.

"Did you feel any remorse or regret when you did what you did?" Subaru questioned.

Reinhard looked down, "I did what I was asked."

"Reinhard, let me show you something. I could use an ally for my plan anyways." Subaru said as his red Gauntlet appeared, showing a holographic memory of his.

Reinhard watched and saw the platinum-haired girl he didn't see before. He also saw the moments before and after when everyone began to act strange. He knew the Sage Council was acting differently but didn't think about it. He didn't know what power Subaru gained or what happened, but he was relieved that he didn't kill him. He then saw an emerald light appear on Subaru's hand.

"Partner, did you not remember me telling you this person could easily kill you in your current state? Are you trying to die?"

"Relax, Ddraig. I can't do this all alone. I've known Reinhard for a while. I doubt he'd kill me even if he saw me escape."

Reinhard was confused, "What is that? If you're telling the truth, then… how do you forgive of what I did? "

"What you did was due to the Witch Cult and that platinum-haired girl. Do you know if Emilia is alright?" Subaru responded, lowering his guard as he saw Reinhard do the same.

"She is fine. Subaru, what is your goal?"

"To kill the person influencing every Royal Selection candidate and their camp. Along with the Sage Council."

"And if I refuse and do not allow you to leave?" Reinhard asked.

"Then I'll accept it, and if the Kingdom and everyone I care about ends up in ruin, I'll know I tried."

Reinhard froze, "What do you want me to do?"

"Do exactly what you've been doing. Keep the Kingdom safe; my only guess is that the power cannot affect you. I will go find her and kill her." Subaru replied.

"You're asking me to let you leave?"

"Do as you want. It's your decision, not the Sage Council nor mine."

Reinhard turned around and walked back up the steps he came from. He knew Subaru was right, but he couldn't watch him leave. He didn't know why he was so calm or the voice and strange power he possessed, but he couldn't sense any malice or ill intent. After being tortured and forgotten, he didn't understand why Subaru still cared. As he pondered the future, a sense of guilt and uncertainty filled Reinhard's mind.

"Ddraig, I'm guessing that's Reinhard agreeing. Let's go." Subaru spoke as two red wings grew from his back. He flew up the stairs and began flying into the sky.

"Partner, why did you do that?"

"Reinhard is the only person not affected that I'm aware of. He should know what is happening if I leave and something happens." Subaru replied.

"Partner, are you ready to try it?"

"Yes."

Subaru focused the power of his greed authority within the gauntlet. It started shining a white aura around it. Subaru thought of this idea, and boosting an authority's power would make it much more effective. He focused on what he desired, that being to find and locate the platinum-haired girl.

BOOST 5X TRANSFER AUTHORITY OF GREED

Subaru closed and reopened his eyes as he could sense a direction to go. Almost as if he was being guided by an unseen force. He flew towards the source's origin, flying through the clouds. He slowly realized that he was headed toward Roswaal's mansion. His anger only grew as he could only guess what may be occurring. He was above the clouds, but he sensed the platinum-haired woman's location directly down. He descended to see Roswaal's mansion frozen and Emilia and the platinum-haired women fighting. He was looking down using his enhanced vision as he saw Emilia shooting icicles at nothing and the platinum-haired woman a distance away with a grin.

"Why, why, why are you here?"

"Don't you remember? I said we would meet one day again. As before, you froze everyone in your attack, failing to kill me. All the people you loved. Love is something treasured. You could've avoided all this if you had opened the seal I asked you to. None of these people you loved would've suffered."

Subaru's body began to radiate with a dragonic aura as he pieced together what she was saying. The Witch of Vangliogy… it has to be. I will kill her. It seems that her authority has some domain that Emilia is being affected within. But I can see Emilia talking to nobody, but the Witch is in the distance with a grin. I desire Pandora to be trapped in a reality of torment until her brain breaks and she dies.

BOOST 20X TRANSFER AUTHORITY OF GREED

Subaru watched as the platinum-haired girl collapsed, and he started to descend to the ground. He desired what he had seen in a manga before. Her life of living in hell for countless years will last only a few minutes in the real world. He watched as Emilia stared at him in both confusion and disbelief. She rubbered her eyes and saw Pandora's body on the ground. She stared at the man who was believed to be a Sin Archbishop.

"Who are you?" Emilia questioned, staring at the man and his red dragon-like wings.

Subaru stared off in the distance at the destroyed mansion. He could only assume everyone was frozen. His hatred grew for the platinum-haired witch who was now dead. He used the last of his power to restore the mansion and the people within it. He desired for the ice to melt and the mansion to survive. When he did so, he saw the ice melt as he knew his main priority was not finished yet.

"Emilia, when this is all over, we can talk. For now, continue, and don't let your past dictate your future." Subaru said, now gaining the authority of Vangliogy.

"Subaru, wait… I'm… how did I forget? How did I treat you so poorly? You killed her… Pandora, why did you help me?" Emilia sobbed as her memories of Subaru returned.

"I'm sorry, but I can't talk to you freely. Forgive me." Subaru said, beginning to regain his descent as he desired for anyone affected by Pandora's power to regain their altered memories of him and his existence.

Subaru regained altitude as he flew toward Elior Forest, "Well, Ddraig, that was… painful."

"Partner, what is your goal now? We discussed this before, but you seem to change your mind frequently."

"First, I must eradicate the Witch Cult, then learn the truth regarding Satella. Then once I complete those tasks, reverse the effects of frozen Elior Forest. I hope by that time maybe me and Emilia can live a life together."

"You said you had other bonds before. What about those people?"

"I don't want to return. I won't even ask Emilia if she wants to live a life with me. If things work out, they will; I'll find something else if they don't. My existence has been altered so many times it would only cause more pain for those I cared about. I'm better off being forgotten now."

"Partner, if that's the case, I suggest you refer to yourself as the Red Dragon Emperor. Create a new identity. Many past hosts leave their old lives to create new ones. However, it's easier said than done."

"My name… I'm not sure what if the Red Dragon Emperor works." Subaru laughed.

"I feared you would become a broken dragon, but it seems you didn't. The only dragon I can think of within my world with the amount of negative emotion and hatred you held but did not become controlled by it was an ancient dragon."

"It's strange how you are from another world. I don't know how Satella summoned a being that could destroy this world. I want answers, but how I acted within the Shadow Garden was strange. After seeing all my forgotten memories, I still don't understand why I acted that way."

"Satella's soul had two within it. Similar to how my soul is bound to you. But her two souls contradict each other."

Subaru sighed as he looked at Elior Forest from the clouds and saw the frozen area. He spotted a few villages nearby that he could get supplies from later. He descended, finding nothing but frozen statues and frozen small huts.

"So this is where Emilia stayed all those years… I could reverse the effects now, but I do that after learning everything else." Subaru said, walking past many frozen statues until he saw a small hut that wasn't frozen in the distance.

He walked closer, getting a chill down his spine at the idea of living in this place as a child. Subaru felt sadness as he thought back to Emilia. It isn't easy to forget the people you care for, but it's more complicated when you are the only one who remembers. He planned to sleep in the only nonfrozen hut, but the idea of doing so felt haunting. He laid his back against the frozen ground as an aura surrounded him almost like a blanket. His eyes closed as his exhaustion left him to slumber on the frozen ground of the forest.

Subaru's eyes opened. He didn't feel the best, but sleeping on the frozen ground was probably not the best decision. Subaru felt alone, knowing that would be the cost of what he was doing, but he didn't like it. He was always around people and relied on them. Now, it's the complete opposite. Alone and reliant on nobody. He sighed as he started to get up and think about what he would do with his day.

"Subaru?"

Subaru's body froze, hearing that voice as he slowly turned around, "Emilia? How?"

"Why? Why would you want me to forget you? Why would you want to be replaced or change my memories of you… why?" Emilia asked, shedding tears.

"I have a task I must do."

"Then why are you lying? You else would I remember you… I left Roswaal's mansion to come here, and I find you. Subaru, just tell me why you're leaving me."

"I don't want to leave you. My past is dead, and this was the only solution. How do you even remember me?"

"Partner, authorities act on your desires whether you realize it or not."

Emilia didn't even notice the voice as her mind was filled with sadness, "Subaru, what did I do? Just tell me… I know I was cruel to you, but that's not your reason is it?"

"I don't know what to say… I just wanted to be forgotten. I don't want to cause any of you more suffering. I'm not the same Subaru you knew, Emilia. I'm not… so much has changed."

"You didn't answer me… why did you leave? I just want to know if you don't care about me or move on with your life. Just tell me what happened."

"Emilia, wait, I do care about you. A lot has happened. Why did you leave Roswaal's mansion?"

"Subaru, when you were forgotten, I felt love for someone but didn't know who. I felt such a deep connection with a person I can't remember, and now I remember… if you're going to leave, please don't change my memories of you. Even if you don't want me in your life-"

"Emilia," Subaru moved towards her and hugged her, "stop saying that. I want you in my life. I love you. But I can't just expect you to leave with me on my path. I just wanted you to be happy with or without me."

"But I can't be… are you happy? I don't want to leave the others, but I'd be broken without you. If you change my memories or replace yourself, I will still love you."

Subaru didn't want to admit it, but he felt a sense of relief or clarity he was missing, "Emilia, I'm going to eradicate the Witch Cult… and find out truths that I'm not sure I even want to learn I don't want you to give up your future for mine which might be only sadness and misery."

"You came here to this forest. I feel so stupid. Why didn't I tell you… why did I have to forget you to know how I felt about you? Subaru, I can't imagine a future without you. When you left me after killing Pandora, I just," Emilia wrapped her arms around Subaru's back, "wanted to give up. I came to this forest to disappear."

"I… what about the others, Emilia? Please don't give up on your future with everyone, and what about them? Everyone will be lost without you or me."

"I was lost without you. If you're running away… I'll come with you. I don't want to leave everyone behind, but I'll follow you if you have a reason for it."

"I'm not running away, Emilia. I'm searching for the truth. It's the opposite. I'm finding the truth, not running from it."

"That's why I love you. Subaru, can we just talk together? Let's go to where I used to live in this forest."

"Alright."

The two walked towards the hut that Emilia used to live in. It wasn't too far, and Subaru debated in his head on what he was doing or if he was even right. But if Emilia came here to disappear, wouldn't it be crueler to leave her? He knew he wanted to be with her he hated all the time he spent without her. He would have to explain so much to her, and maybe she could decide whether or not she wants to stay on the path he is taking. They entered the hut where Emilia used to live as she dusted off the various things she had left behind years ago. There was a bed where she used to sleep and not much more.

"Subaru, come sit down," Emilia said, patting down the bed she was sitting on.

Subaru sat down, ready to explain everything, "Emilia, when I was forgotten, I gained a power that Satella gave me. However, in doing so, she lost her connection to me. I then learned of many memories I wasn't aware of. Memories of her world are similar to Echidna's but darker. When I went into the world, I acted differently, and well, that's the first thing I want to learn the truth of. I now have Ddraig, who is Heavenly Dragon from another world. I planned to eradicate the Witch Cult, confront Satella, and learn the truth of whatever I was missing."

"Partner, you neglected to mention that after you wanted to spend the rest of your life with Emilia."

Emilia noticed the emerald light, "Wait, so what's your power? Like a spirit?"

"No, it's more like a soul-bound connection where Ddraig gives me power. We are partners so similar to spirits but better."

Emilia giggled, "I don't understand, but I'm just happy. I don't understand the details of whatever you're trying to learn. I just want to be with you and help you. If you wanted to spend the rest of your life with me, why not just start now?"

"Leave everything behind and go with me?" Subaru leaned closer to Emilia, "Are you completely sure?"

"Subaru, you showed me something I would've never had. Everything that I gained was because of you. I never would've made it this far without you."

"I never would've made it this far without you, Emilia."

Subaru leaned in and brushed his lips against Emilia's. Emilia continued kissing Subaru as the two embraced each other's warmth. Subaru broke the kiss and hugged Emilia tightly.

"Thank you for saving me again, Emilia,"
