Years pass and Dale is now in his final year of high school. He has grown up a lot since the incident with the stolen car and the car accident. He has been accepted to a few different colleges and is trying to decide where he wants to go.
Chip is proud of him and can't believe how fast the time has flown by. He remembers when Dale was just a little kid, struggling to tie his shoes, and now he's about to graduate from high school and go off to college.
As graduation approaches, Dale becomes more and more excited for the future. He's ready to start a new chapter of his life and make the most of his college years. He knows he's going to miss his family and his hometown, but he's ready for the adventure that lies ahead.
Chip can see the excitement in his brother's eyes and feels a mix of pride and sadness. He's proud of Dale for all he's accomplished and who he's become, but he also knows that things will never be quite the same again.
As Dale prepares for his graduation ceremony, Chip can't help but think back on all the memories they've shared together. From teaching him how to tie a tie, to helping him buy his first car, to picking him up from jail, they've been through a lot together.
But no matter what the future holds, Chip knows that he and Dale will always have a special bond that can never be broken. As they sit in the audience at graduation, watching Dale walk across the stage to receive his diploma, Chip can't help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude for the brother he's been lucky enough to have.
A few months later…
Dale had been preparing for college but came across his old hat. He remembered the old days and went to Chip who was in the house.
Dale: Hey, Chip, do you remember when we went horseback riding together a few years back?
Chip: Yeah, I sure do. It was a fun time.
Dale: I found my old hat the other day, and it got me thinking about that day. Would you be interested in going again sometime soon?
Chip: Of course, I would. When were you thinking?
Dale: Maybe this weekend? I'm trying to make the most of my final year of high school before I go off to college.
Chip: Sounds like a good plan. Let's do it.
Dale: Great! I can't wait to get back on a horse again. It's been too long.
Chip: Yeah, and it'll be a nice break from all the college preparation you've been doing.
Chip smiled and replied, "Sure thing, Dale. I'd love to go horseback riding with you again."
Dale's face lit up with excitement. "That's great, Chip! It's been a while since we've done that."
Chip nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it has. I remember when we first went, and you were so nervous about riding. But look at you now, a pro!"
Dale laughed. "Yeah, I guess I've come a long way since then."
Chip placed a hand on Dale's shoulder. "You sure have, little brother. And I'm proud of you for it."
Dale smiled and thanked Chip. "So, when should we go riding again?"
Chip thought for a moment before responding, "How about this weekend? We can make a day out of it and pack a picnic lunch."
Dale's eyes lit up. "That sounds perfect, Chip. I can't wait."
Chip grinned. "Me neither, Dale. Me neither."
As Dale walked back to Chip's new truck he became sad as he remembers the memories of the past.
Chip notices Dale's mood and puts his arm around his shoulder. "What's on your mind, little brother?" he asks.
Dale sighs. "I don't know, Chip. It just feels like everything is changing so fast. We used to go horseback riding all the time, and now we hardly ever get to do anything together."
Chip nods. "I know what you mean, Dale. But that's just part of growing up, things change. But no matter what happens, I'll always be here for you."
Dale smiles slightly. "I know, Chip. You've always been there for me."
They reach the Chevy and get in. As they drive back to the house, Chip turns on the radio and starts singing along to a George Strait song. Dale joins in, and soon they're both laughing and singing at the top of their lungs.
When they get home, Mia is waiting for them on the porch. Dale's face lights up when he sees her. "Hey, Mia!" he calls out, jumping out of the car and running over to her.
"Hey, Dale!" Mia replies, hugging him. "How was horseback riding?"
"It was great!" Dale says, grinning from ear to ear. "It felt like old times."
Chip gets out of the car and walks over to them. "Hey, Mia. How's it going?"
Mia smiles. "Good, thanks. How about you?"
Chip shrugs. "Can't complain. Just trying to keep up with this little guy," he says, ruffling Dale's hair.
Dale laughs and swats Chip's hand away. "Hey!"
Mia giggles at their antics. "You guys are so funny," she says.
They all go inside, and Dale starts telling Mia about the horseback riding trip. As he talks, he can feel himself relaxing and forgetting about his worries for a little while. He knows that things will keep changing as he grows up, but as long as he has his brother and his girlfriend by his side, he'll be okay.
