This is a pure concept idea at this moment.
A show of work, not intent to move forward any time soon.
Busy with my other projects, work, and life.
Wanted to get it out and see what the response was first and foremost.
So let me know what you think.
Ship pairings are in the poll on my profile.
Those on the app can just leave a review but know there are set choices.
It is Monster Hunter Crossover, but the story is still heavily RWBY's.
"I can't believe my baby sister was accepted into Beacon with me!" An exuberant booming voice reverberated and shook her very being as she felt her bones nearly crush to powder as she gripped her in a strong death lock.
Her sister had the most vigorous hug of anyone she knew, and she worried this would be the last moment of her life. No hunt was as deadly as this. Anything she had faced before paled in comparison.
Her life flashed before her eyes…
Most of it was still filled with blonde hair obscuring her vision...
"Neither can I, Yang. It seems too early for my tastes as Ruby was barely accepted into Signal." A grumpy male voice echoed before he sighed as the death grip suddenly loosened around her.
Ruby exhaled in relief as the pressure was released. Yang turned her attention to the other, tilting her head awkwardly as she puckered her lips in thought. "But isn't that a good thing, Dad? I mean, Ruby proved her worth right in front of one of the Professors of Beacon, and the Headmaster decided she was ready and offered her an invitation…"
"Sometimes patience is a virtue." Taiyang shook his head before longingly glancing at his daughters, and a grimace adorned his face as he gazed upon the two of them in their regular clothing. "Yang, you are still wearing that after all this time? It doesn't help when you wear your armor, it is almost as revealing…"
"I look terrific in this and my armor, alright, Dad!" Yang stomped in annoyance and glared directly into her father's eyes, refusing to back down. "And it isn't just about the protection and properties they grant either! It's about freedom of movement, and you know that as well as I do! Unlike other Hunters, when we fight with our fists, we've got to get closer to the monsters…"
"I'm very aware of our style, Yang." Tai shook his head and rolled his eyes at his belligerent daughter, knowing he wouldn't get anywhere with her. "We've been through this a thousand times, so I won't press you further."
"Ruby?" Tai turned his attention to his other daughter, who quietly watched the two bicker as they often did.
"Yes?" Ruby brilliantly flashed a dazzling smile as she looked up and met her father's gaze.
Tai's heart melted at seeing his youngest daughter's beaming face, which warmed him to his core. He knew she wanted this even if he was hesitant about the entire situation. "Do you have everything ready? I know this was sudden, and you've barely had time to register what is happening. I want to make sure you have all the amenities you need."
"I sure do!" Ruby grinned as she patted the massive pack behind her, nearly double her size, before lifting it easily with a single hand. "Got my armor packed up! Crescent Rose! All my Dust, munitions, stock, herbs, extra parts for repairs…"
"Did you remember extra clothes and hygiene products?" Tai interrupted and looked deeply into his daughter's silver eyes, worried as he knew how one tracked her mind could get and feared for the worse.
It took a moment, but an alarm spread across her face before Ruby immediately flung into a blind panic. She flew up the stairs with rose petals trailing behind her and into her room. Rummaging sounds followed. "Ah! How could I forget? Stupid, stupid! Going to need my pajamas too!"
"Don't forget some pillows!" Yang added as she called up the stairs to her sister, repressing a giggle. "Didn't see you pack those either. Toothbrush and toothpaste too! Everything else too, sis. Don't make me spell it out."
"Oh no! I'm going to run out of the room! This is terrible! What should I do? Zwei, no! That doesn't help right now! Don't you look cute at me like that?"
"I'm gonna go get the Jeep started and ensure the area is clear of any annoyance." Tai sighed at his youngest panic, having seen this coming. "Last thing we need is a blockade of Aptonoth on the road or some Velociprey creeping around the cabin."
"Oh, I'll help!" Yang grinned as she reached into her large pack and slipped on two bone-like wrist guards that clicked into place, transforming them into full gauntlets. "If something is out there, I want to test Ember's new upgrade after our last hunt."
Tai waved his daughter off as he headed toward the door. "Go help your sister pack. You need to save your energy for Beacon's initiation, trust me. You can test it out there."
"Fine." Yang pouted, letting Ember Celica transform into wrist guards and slid them off into her pack, heading up the stairs and into Ruby's room. "What the…"
"What did you not understand about packing light? I thought I was terrible! Ruby, no! Zwei doesn't need to come with us!"
"But he wants to come, Yang! Look at his face and tell him no!"
"No! Dad needs some company while we're away!"
"And these are my daughters…" Tai muttered as he walked out the front door, running his hand through his hair before softly smiling. "Oum, I love them."
"More than anything in the world."
Everything was tiring.
How long had she been doing this? Traveling from place to place? Covering her tracks? Camping in the wilderness as she only used her Lien to afford the basics. Occasionally affording a room with parts of her hunts so she could shower and bathe so she wouldn't smell rank. She couldn't hunt anything significant by herself, so it wasn't worth much Lien, but it was still enough to get by for that purpose.
She had standards. She refused to remain in filth. Hopefully, she could bathe when she arrived at Beacon to return to a regular routine…
It was miserable but necessary. It was all she could do not to be found. She couldn't afford to be spotted on the continent of Sanus and in Vale in particular.
Vale was his branch, and she was brazen by staying here. She knew that but at the same time…
Beacon was her best hope for freedom. Her shining light as she sent letters to each academy, hoping one would accept her as a Huntress and only one accepted her. They all must have been afraid due to her background, and she couldn't blame them…
But Beacon wasn't. They offered her admission and a clean slate to become a Huntress.
Of all the academies that accepted her, it ironically was the one on his turf.
So she had to endure. She covered her features and tried to blend in seamlessly with the populace. It seemed to work, as she didn't notice anyone tracking her. She couldn't be sure, but the time was fast approaching.
Today was the day she would finally head to Beacon. Her salvation was nearly upon her.
A new life as she gathered what few things remaining of her stuff and packed it.
Her golden eyes glimmered as she slowly prepared to travel to the small town of Patch. She had stayed nearby so she could ride the Airbus to Beacon. It was time to start this upcoming chapter in her life.
Taking a deep breath, she smothered the dimmed campfire, extinguishing the flames. It felt symbolic in a way. A sad smile graced her lips as she wiped tears away from her eyes.
It was time for Blake Belladonna to begin her new life.
Her heart was beating so quickly.
What was this feeling? Anxiety? Exhilaration? Sadness?
Whatever it was, it was something she had not anticipated. She watched the servants pack every last of her suitcases from her room with trepidation, ensuring every last item was taken carefully. Many were filled with Dust, and she warned them as such, and if they deigned to make foolish maneuvers with her precious cargo, they would pay dearly for it.
The injuries sustained would be the least of their worries!
"Are you sure about this, dear sister?" A worried voice of a young man belayed his concern to a pristine young lady with white hair tied into a long ponytail. "Father seemed quite upset with your decision. I'm sure if you changed your mind…"
"My mind has been made up for a long time, Whitley." The young lady responded with ire in her voice as her icy blue eyes snapped at him before flicking her ponytail haughtily. "Father consented to my request the moment I succeeded in the task he set before me."
"But Beacon is so quite a ways from Atlas," Whitley stated in a matter-of-fact tone as he held his hands behind his back, turning his attention to the servants and seemingly unphased by his sister's cold response. "Won't it be so lonely being so far away from home?"
Sneering at her brother's condescension aimed toward her, she refrained from verbally lashing a response back. Instead, she traced a freshly clawed wound on her left eye and winced before her eyes steeled and her resolve burned as she looked outside the window of her room. "Lonely, you say…"
"Dear brother," Weiss turned and faced Whitley, her eyes ice cold and her face emotionless. "When was the last time we spoke to one another? When was the last time we talked to one another instead of this idol chat that only antagonizes the other?"
Taking a step back at his sister's proclamation, not expecting it, Weiss brushed past her brother as she softly replied. "As I thought. It has been far too long for us to remember, hasn't it?"
"I miss the old days when we were a family, and Mother wasn't drunk all the time," Weiss whispered so only Whitley could hear when a figure stepped at her door.
A genuine smile crossed her lips. The figure at her door stood rigidly at attention, but it did not matter as the slightest hint of a smile showed how proud they were, and a glimmer in their eyes that said everything that needed to be said. That person was the most significant person left to her.
"Winter, you're here?"
"Of course." Winter nodded as she stood at attention and looked at Weiss. "I made time to see you off, and General Ironwood granted it. I did not want to miss seeing you off after everything you did to achieve this, Weiss."
A grateful smile curled on Weiss' face as she bowed respectfully to her older sister. "Thank you…"
"Now, come along." Winter motioned her head down the hall with another smile. "Klein is waiting for us. Let's not keep him waiting. You have a whole new chapter ahead of your life."
"It's time to break free and forge your identity, no?"
"Is it just me, or is it just a small crop of initiates here heading to Beacon?" Yang muttered with disappointment as she stood in the airport, waiting on the Airbus to arrive with her father and Ruby while looking amongst the potential crop of Huntsmen and Huntresses that would join them at the academy. "This is the last stop before heading to Beacon properly. I barely see two people from my class here, a strange girl I've never seen before and a scrawny blonde I could snap like a twig."
"I resemble that remark!" The tall, lanky blonde retorted in annoyance with far more confidence than he should. "I should have you know…"
"Don't care, twig!" Yang cut him off, waving him off before flexing her right arm, showing a built, defined muscle from years of diligent work and training. "Come back when you have muscles like this, and then we'll talk!"
As the tall blonde deflated, Ruby winced and patted him on the back comfortingly. "Don't worry about it. She burns everyone like that."
"Gee, thanks. That's comforting..."
"Don't forget those that live in Vale usually just ride over to Beacon as it's easier than coming out here." Tai shook his head at his daughter's antics and reminded his eldest as he looked in the distance, seeing the Airbus slowly descending into sight. "Not to mention there are two other flights that arrive, one from Vacuo and another from Mistral. This particular one comes from Atlas and stops here before heading to Beacon."
"Oh," Yang thought about it a bit before popping up with a wide grin. "That makes more sense. Otherwise, I would have wondered why there didn't seem like too many people!"
"That's because Hunters acceptance numbers are always low." One of the potential students growled out, this one with black hair and golden eyes responding in annoyance as she snapped her book shut and stared at the blonde. "Huntsman and Huntresses lives are in danger constantly, and only the finest are considered for the top academies. Only those with exemplary skills are accepted into them. Maybe twenty at most are accepted into each academy yearly, and then the numbers are thinned further by initiation."
"Huh, that so?" Yang blinked before shrugging her shoulders uncaringly. "Never knew that. It always came naturally for me, so I thought it was easy."
"Thought it was easy?" The black-haired girl with a black bow rolled her eyes at Yang's nonchalant response before returning to her book and muttering as she moved away. "Ignorance is bliss, huh? That line of thinking is the worst."
"People like you make me sick."
"Yo! What does that mean?" Yang gnashed her teeth, stepped toward the rival student, and clenched her fists, ready for a fight. "You want to go, huh? We can go!"
"Yang, no!" Ruby helplessly pulled her sister back as a burning aura built around her. "Remember! Save your energy for the test! Don't Burn out early! Dad talked about this on the way here!"
"She started it! I'm gonna finish it!"
"You didn't make a good impression either!"
Placing his face in the palm of his hand, Tai groaned in exacerbation. If it wasn't one daughter, it was the other one. The other girl had a point he was about to make to Yang and had to admit. His daughters were sheltered. Yang less so as she was constantly out, much to his chagrin. But there were still so many things she was naive about…
Ruby was more so, and that is why he was hesitant about her traveling to Beacon in the first place.
He frowned and briefly glanced at the young woman as the Airbus landed before moving to help his daughters load. There was something odd about her, that was for sure. Tai swore the bow on her head moved when she was annoyed with Yang. But that had to be his imagination.
It wasn't like she was hiding ears under that conspicuous…
"Wow! The view is awesome!"
"Ruby, be careful!" Yang called out to her sister as she dashed all over the Airbus cabin, jumping from window to window to enjoy the scenery. "You are acting like you have never been…"
"Wait, you haven't been on one since you were little." Yang corrected herself as she stroked her chin while remembering her sister's last time on an Airbus. "It has been a while, hasn't it?"
"Watch where you are going, you ignorant fool!" Another voice cried out as Ruby tripped over a new individual, and the two tumbled to the metal deck and sprawled out on the floor. "Oum, you are a disgrace! Who dared to accept someone like you into a prestigious academy like Beacon? They should be fired!"
"I'm so sorry!" Ruby profusely apologized as she attempted to help the young lady she knocked over, only to have her hand slapped away. "I wasn't paying attention and…"
"Obviously, you weren't!" Weiss spat as she coldly glared at Ruby as she stood up on her own volition, refusing her help. "Oum, help whomever you get stuck with, as I wouldn't wish a disaster like you upon them!"
"I said I'm sorry!"
"It takes more than words to make up for actions!" Weiss snapped as she brushed herself clean before narrowing her eyes at the girl. "How young are you? What are you even doing here? You barely look old enough to attend an entrance academy, let alone a secondary academy as prestigious as Beacon! What fool thought to invite you to the initiation?"
Ruby flinched and slumped at the harsh words, fidgeting as she couldn't meet her frightening glare. "Um, the headmaster offered me the invitation two nights ago…"
"Are you serious?" Weiss exclaimed as she stomped the metal floor discontentedly. "Just what makes you so special, huh? You seem like nothing more than a bumbling fool…"
"Watch it!" Yang stepped beside her shrinking sister, her aura building around her and her eyes shifting shades of color. "I don't care who you are…"
"Weiss Schnee." A familiar voice responded, and all turned to see the black-haired girl walking toward them with a bow in her hair, her eyes focused on the situation. "Heiress to the Schnee Dust Company. The world's largest and most powerful company is only rivaled by the Mistral Trading Company now that the Vanille Dust Company that once resided here in Vale collapsed several years ago under mysterious circumstances."
While Ruby looked shocked hearing this information, Yang didn't seem to care one notion and only gnashed her teeth seeing the smug look on Weiss' face upon being recognized. "Ah, alas. Someone that recognizes who they are dealing…"
"The same company is known for its ruthless business strategies and horrid working conditions for its workforce." Golden eyes clashed with icy blues, speaking with malice as she kept her gaze steady. "Am I wrong, Princess?"
"How dare you?" Weiss fumed, gazing into this person's dilated iris…
Weiss stepped back, understanding dawning as the faintest grimace flashed on her lips. Then a twisted snarl snapped on her lips as she turned her head and turned away. "Whatever! I'm done dealing with all of you!"
"Good day!"
"Good riddance!" Yang shook her fist in annoyance as she stepped forward and heatedly barked at the Schnee heiress as she walked away. "Stay away from my sister, you hear! If you don't, I'll make you regret it!"
"Are you okay?" The girl with a bow asked as she approached an upset Ruby, still withdrawn into herself.
"Yo!" Yang turned back and narrowed her eyes at the one that had upset her in the airport. "Hold on! Just who do you think you are? I appreciate the help with the prissy queen, but…"
"I'm fine!" Ruby silenced her sister's rant as she smiled, her dazzling gleam shining as she closed her eyes and tilted her head. "The suddenness took me by surprise, and how quickly everything escalated. I wasn't sure what to do…"
"It's okay." The bow-haired girl returned a smile seeing Ruby returning to a more natural state. "It happens to everyone, and we all freeze occasionally."
"Oh, I, uh…"
"And you got to learn from it so it doesn't happen again because it will only worsen if no one is there to help you." The girl shook her head and exhaled. "So learn from this and know more people like her are out there. Worse than her. Be prepared for them, and don't let them scare you again, okay?"
"Don't ignore me here!" Yang interjected as she tried to put herself between her sister and the interloper, annoyed with the situation. "I mean, that is a valid point and all, but just who are you to…"
"Someone that has seen the ways of the world enough to know how it works. That is all." The girl shook her head and turned away from the blonde, having no interest in talking to her and pulling out her book as she moved to walk away.
"I'm Ruby Rose!" Ruby offered her hand, warmly smiling and surprising the bow-headed girl. "Nice to meet you!"
Analyzing the gesture as if it were foreign to her, the girl puckered her lips before extending her hand and accepting the offer. "Blake Belladonna."
And with that, she turned, buried her head in her book, and walked away. Yang looked between her sister and the odd girl that had infuriated her before. "Okay, she's a weirdo…"
"But a nice one once you get to know her." Ruby beamed as she watched Blake settle down in a spot to read. "Maybe you could take a few hints from her?"
"I had more friends than everyone here!" Yang bit back a growl while narrowing her eyes at her giggling sister. "I was the most popular person in Signal by a wide margin…
"Bet that's because of your looks!" Echoed from a distance, and Yang's eyes burned red as they turned and booked it to the other side of the Airbus.
"I will snap you in half, Twig!"
"For the love of Oum, no!

When updates do eventually come, they'll come out in a Volume format like RWBY.
Not following the story beats of the show, simply using its structure and maybe a few obvious elements here and there.
So I'll complete an entire Volume before updating anything and then have it set on some sort of schedule.
For those that picked on the poll and there was a late entry added, you may let me know if you wish to switch the vote!
