Hi! It's your girl holidaygirl1225 here, and I decided to address something important: the root of my love for video games! I recently got a fan email (fan mail? FAN MAIL? LETS HECKING GOOOOOO) that asked me how I got into video games. Thank you to beautifuldreamingbutterfly for asking me this question! It's a very special subject for me.

The first game I remember playing (besides smash, more on that later) is Pokemon Red. Of course, Pokemon Red games wasn't new at the time. I'm not sure what pokemon games might've been popular then. (Black and White?) But Dess set me up with that one. She read aloud the dialogue to me for a while, and then…kind of left me to figure it out on my own X) I really sucked since I only ever battled with my partner pokemon and didn't realize that there was a level-up system and my other pokemon needed training. I just remember Dess opening the pokemon menu and saying "and here's where you can train your pokemon!" I never made it past Vermillion City. It actually wasn't because of the gym leader, the infamous Lt. Sarge, who I thought was gonna be super hard bc of the anime. I beat him easily, despite Dess thinking he'd whip me. I was really scared of losing because I forgot to visit the pokemon center and would be sent back before I crossed the cave, which had given me lots of trouble. After beating him I didn't know where to go and I ended up just walking around for ages losing to all the trainers before I gave up. Lmao X)

After that Dess downloaded the demo version of Dragon Quest: Builders for herself. She didn't get into it. Idk much about the actual game to be honest. After Dess finished all the main quests in the demo I asked if I could play, then just started obsessively mining dirt blocks and building, before I inevitably died and went back to not having any dirt because I had no idea how to save. It was like…training for minecraft. That game definitely played a huge role in my love of video games. There isn't much to say about it because I was just doing the same thing–collecting dirt, placing dirt, falling off the wall I was building, dying, wash, rinse, repeat–but we never got the full version and I put WAAAY too many hours into it.

Come to think of it, how many exactly? *quickly checks time* I DID THAT FOR 800 HOURS. WOW. THATS GOTTA BE SOME SORT OF WORLD RECORD OF HOW STUPID SOMEONE CAN BE.

Throughout my whole childhood I played super smashing fighters with basically everyone in my family except for mom. I remember me and Dess would play it to decide who had to reload the dishwasher. Half the time if I lost I'd start sniffling and she'd agree to just reload anyway. That was the kind of sister she was, lol.

After that I played Mariokart and Mariomaker, Dragon Quest Builders 2 (actually got the full version of that one!), Puyo Puyo Tetris (only ever did puyo at the beginning of that journey bc i couldn't figure out how tetris worked), all Pokemon games, and pretty much anything I could get my hands on. I was already addicted to the gaming world lol. X) But my main thing has been Dragon Blazers for a few years now. The original Dragon Blazers 1 demo I watched Dess play through when I was really little, and I guess the childhood nostalgia was more powerful than anything because I'm really into it. In fact, it's kiiind of taken over my life. Like, the teacher will be talking about atoms or something and I'll be nodding and paying attention too, but in the back of my mind I'm still thinking about Dragon Blazers, typically Dragon Blazers 2, writing imaginary fanfic or theories or just letting my mind…rest…on it. There's this one shot in the game where all the characters are together at the end and that's become my default image in the back of my brain, like some kind of computer wallpaper for my mind.

So yeah, there it is, the story of me being an absolute idiot since I was about four!

Bye everyone, stay chill and take care of yourselves~
