Summary:

Had he lived, Hakudoshi would be a pain all the same.

A trail of actual blood leading back to the lead demon slayer's hut?

The death rate was down. The village and nearby villages weren't in immediate danger.

Hisui wouldn't think much of it if Uncle did, but the Chief had slain a demon now? To do what? This wasn't like Kohaku at all.

Uncle was clear: "Demon slayers are there in order to help those who are in need. It should never be for the sake of someone who's taking care of us, or for the sake of money."

Taijiya don't kill for sport. Requests weren't coming in from locals or lords lately, thus the giant decapitated head of the yokai bleeding out outside Uncle's dwelling was…

"Hakudoshi, what have you got there?" Kohaku interrupted Hisui's thoughts, passing his nephew.

"This one was shuffling around with its ilk."

"A three day's walk from here. What are you provoking them for? The demon slayers respond to yokai activity. We don't cause it ourselves."

"That's your policy, Kohaku." Hakudoshi whirled his naginata for show. "I'm not a demon slayer."

He was a demon who slayed other demons, but wasn't a part of Kohaku's group. Not in an official capacity.

"If the demon slayers hunted down every demon that existed, we wouldn't be having this conversation."

"Yokai sympathizer," Hakudoshi accused Kohaku with a quiet, mocking laugh. "This is why you're not getting work."

"The demon slayers get the job done. If we don't have any work, it is because you're overzealously wiping them out."

Hakudoshi side-eyed Hisui. "Your recruits aren't up to the job."

"Now! Now! You don't want it? I'll take it off your hands!" Moroha shamelessly intruded and began dragging the bloody head off. "I'll be sure to turn it in for a nice bounty!"
