In the City of Los Angeles, Yugi, Joey, Tea, Mai, Tristian and Duke were driving in Duke's private bus to the carnival that was in town.
"Oh, wow, we're going to the carnival!" Yugi was excited.
"Oh boy, I can't wait to munch on cotton candy and hot dogs, and pizza…." Joey went on and on.
"This is why I need female friends…oh wait, you're here, Mai." Tea realized Mai was there. "But still, next trip is going to be girls only." The water levels were rising all of a sudden, as Duke followed the Tsunami evacuation route.
"That's weird, the weather didn't call for tsunamis." Tristian was confused. However, it was not a tsunami that caused the water levels to rise, it was a lone scientist in a castle, standing in his castle, crying. He was crying, as tears were rolling down from his eyes.
"Everyone else is so happy, but I am so miserable, and I don't know why!" The scientist cried. "I, Mr. Misery, have developed this machine that will make everyone else miserable and I will be happy instead!" Mr. Misery activated the machine. It sucked the misery from him and spread it across Los Angeles.
Yugi and friends got to the carnival, but everyone there was crying.
"Why is everyone sad?" Yugi was curious. "This should be a fun occasion!" The Duel Rangers were hit by the Misery Machine and started crying. Aster Phoenix and Zane Truesdale showed up, as they were crying also. Kaiba and Mokuba showed up, and they were crying.
"When Kaiba smiles, a puppy dies, but when Kaiba cries….a puppy is born!" Joey cried, hugging Kaiba.
"I am sorry I called you a third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck!" Kaiba began to feel sorry for Joey.
"You really mean that?" Joey was holding onto Kaiba like his own brother.
"Yugi, all the times I called you and your friends dweebs, what I meant was that I LOVE YOU!" Kaiba started bawling out.
"Is there any way to reverse this effect?" Yugi asked. Kaiba broke free of the effect for some unknown reason.
"Yes, and that is to make 'em laugh!" Kaiba went on stage to tell some jokes.
"Hello everyone, are you ready to laugh?" Everyone was still crying.
"All righty then, here come the jokes!" Kaiba began his first joke. "Why did the Blue Eyes White Dragon cross the road?" The crowd was still crying.
"He did it because he was the Blue Eyes Freaking Dragon that's why!" People started laughing and the effects were wearing off.
"A Thunder Dragon walks into a bar and says how much for a drink, and the bartender says, For You, it's positively charged." Yugi, Joey, and Mai were no longer crying.
"Ok let's do something a little different." Mokuba and Kaiba's workers set up a game show with stands and lights.
"Welcome to America's Next Top Seto Kaiba, hosted by me, Seto Kaiba!" Kaiba began to introduce the contestants. "First contestant is the dweeb in chief himself, Yami Yugi!" Tea, Duke and Tristian applauded, no longer crying.
"The next contestant is a third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck, and the Duelist Kingdom runner up, please give it up for Joey Wheeler!" The crowd cheered.
"Finally is a woman who actually has a crush on the blonde dweeb who is a fourth rate duelist with a fifth rate deck, her name is Mai Valentine!" The crowd cheered.
"Are you ready to play?" Kaiba asked. All three contestants nodded.
"Let's begin!" Kaiba began the first round.
"Round One is Screwing the rules." The first contestant up was Yami Yugi.
"I play Mammoth Graveyard, Polymerization and the Living Arrow that fuses together with your Blue Eyes Ultimate, making it decrease attack points each turn!" Yugi laughed. Joey was up.
"I summon three Red Eyes Black Dragons in attack mode!" Joey announced. "Then I activate the Copycat card that lets me copy Kaiba's catchphrase. "Screw the rules, I am from Brooklyn!" Mai was up.
"I will summon my Harpie Lady and multiply it with four Elegant Egotists, meaning I have 12 Harpie Ladies on the field!"
"Hey, you're only allowed to have 3 copies of the same card!" Someone in the audience heckled.
"Screw the rules, I have money!" Mai winked.
"Hey, that's my line!" Kaiba snapped. "That line only has meaning when I say it, but when anyone else says it, it loses all its meaning!"
"Round one is complete!" Mokuba announced. "Round 2 is the sass round." Yugi was up. "Roast me!"
"You might want to ADOPT a new strategy in beating me, Kaiba, because you're not winning!" Kaiba felt insulted.
"At least I actually beat the Pharaoh and you had your chance in Egypt but you failed!" Joey put a sweet burn on Kaiba.
"And yes, I do love my Harpies like you love your Blue Eyes, but I think of my Harpies as sisters, not romantic partners." Mai smiled. People were starting to feel happier again.
"Final round is logic breaking!" Mokuba announced. "Go!" However, the contest was interrupted by Mr. Misery approaching the stage on a tank.
"Who will do the honors?" Yugi asked.
"We all will!" They activated their Duel Ranger Modes and began to fight off Mr. Misery.
"GO GO DUEL RANGERS!" Yugi was shot by the machine gun, but it had no effect. The tank shot a shell at Mai, but she dodged it. Joey went in and lifted the tank over his head, throwing it on the ground. The tank exploded and he managed to survive.
"Oh well, at least I'm Joey Wheeler!" Mr. Misery was badly damaged, being held in Joey's hands.
"That's enough, Joey." Yugi advised. "If you hurt him any more, he will die." The police showed up to the carnival to to take Mr. Misery away. Everyone was happy and the day was saved once again thanks to Yugi, Joey, and Mai, who are candidates to surpass Kaiba as the coolest guy around.
