Chapter 1: The Gauntlet
The Gauntlet was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. It was a virtual simulation designed to test a pilot's reflexes, agility, and combat skills. As I stepped into the simulation pod, I could feel my heart racing with anticipation.
The pod was a small, cramped space with only enough room for me to stand. It was made of sleek, black metal, with glowing blue lights lining the edges. As I looked around, I noticed several screens displaying data and statistics. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves, as the pod door slid shut with a hiss.
The simulation began with a swift drop into a dimly lit pit, with only the sound of my own breathing to accompany me. I looked up to see swinging pendulums coming at me at an alarming speed. I quickly realized that I had to time my jumps perfectly to avoid getting hit.
The pendulums were heavy, metallic spheres, suspended by thick cables from the ceiling. They swung back and forth, getting closer with each passing moment. I leapt and twisted in mid-air, narrowly avoiding each one. My reflexes were being put to the test, and I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins.
As I made my way through the course, I encountered fiery pits that spewed flames in my direction. I had to dodge and weave my way around them while maintaining my speed. It was a true test of my agility and reflexes.
The fiery pits were large, circular holes in the ground, lined with jagged rocks and molten lava. They erupted in sudden bursts, sending flames shooting into the air. I had to time my movements carefully, using the momentum of my jumps to carry me over each pit. The heat was intense, and the acrid smell of burning metal filled my nostrils.
The last section of the course was the most challenging. It required me to take down a group of enemy robots that were designed to mimic real-life combat situations. The robots were armed with advanced weapons and were programmed to attack with ruthless efficiency.
The robots were sleek, black machines, with glowing red eyes and powerful weaponry. They swarmed around me, firing lasers and rockets with deadly accuracy. I had to use every trick in my arsenal to defeat them, ducking behind cover and using my own weapons to take them out one by one.
But I was prepared for the challenge. I utilized my training and my own quick thinking to take down the robots, using every weapon at my disposal. I emerged from the simulation victorious, feeling a rush of adrenaline and pride in my accomplishment.
As I stepped out of the simulation pod, Captain Lastimosa was there to greet me. Despite his tough exterior, I could see a sense of pride in his eyes. He congratulated me on a job well done and told me that I was ready to take on the challenges of the battlefield.
"Congratulations, Cooper," he said, clasping my hand. "You've done well in the Gauntlet. You're one of the best rookies I've seen."
"Thank you, sir," I said, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "I couldn't have done it without your training."
"It was all you, Cooper," he said, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "You're a natural-born pilot. But don't let it go to your head. The battlefield is a different animal altogether."
I nodded, understanding the gravity of his words. "I know, sir. I won't forget what we're fighting for - freedom for the Frontier."
"Good," he said, his expression turning serious. "You're going to be a great asset to our team, Cooper. But we've got a long way to go before you're ready to become a real pilot. That was just combat training you need some titan training, aswell."
"Let's get you started with real combat training before you actually, just cause you know the basics does not mean you are a pilot just yet. We have mission to do later it should be a stealth mission which obviously means be quiet. We will take a drop ship at 22:00 take out any one and every one Cooper."
When the time finally came Captain Anderson and I got on the drop ship and flew off to the IMC base. We got there right on schedule and undetected
I took a deep breath and steeled myself for what was to come. The plan was simple: sneak into the IMC base undetected, eliminate any grunts and pilots I came across, and destroy any equipment or technology that could be used against us.
Captain Lastimosa's ship hovered above the base, providing me with an entry point. I readied my weapon, a modified version of the R-201 assault rifle, and took a running start towards the open hatch at the back of the ship. With a final leap, I jumped out of the ship and plummeted towards the base.
The wind whipped past me as I fell towards the base. Last second before I hit the ground I used my jump kit to make soar over the wall and in the roof. I landed softly on the rooftop of a nearby building and quickly surveyed my surroundings.
The base was bustling with activity. I could see grunts patrolling the perimeter, pilots training in the nearby arena, and several dropships arriving and departing from the landing pad. I knew I had to move quickly and quietly to avoid detection.
I made my way across the rooftop, taking cover behind various structures and equipment. As I approached the edge, I could see a group of grunts below, oblivious to my presence. I aimed my weapon and fired, taking them down with precision. Their bodies slumped to the ground, lifeless.
I As I made my way through the base, I kept a low profile. My R-201 rifle was equipped with a suppressor, ensuring that my shots were silent. I moved quickly and efficiently, taking down any enemies in my way without alerting others.
The sound of gunfire echoed throughout the halls as I picked off grunts and pilots with deadly precision. Blood spattered across the walls and floor as bodies dropped to the ground, lifeless. The scene was gruesome and visceral, but it was necessary for the mission.
I tried not to dwell on the carnage I was causing, instead focusing on my objective. I needed to reach the control room and disable the base's defenses. The thought of innocent lives being lost in the crossfire weighed heavily on me, but I knew that the IMC's actions left me no choice.
I moved through the corridors like a ghost, silently dispatching anyone in my path. The sight of blood and death was becoming all too familiar to me, and it left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Eventually, I reached the control room, and my heart raced as I prepared to take out the final obstacle in my way. I raised my R-201, taking aim at the console that controlled the base's defenses. With a precise shot, I disabled the system, feeling a sense of relief wash over me.
As I made my way out of the base, the sight of the carnage I had caused weighed heavily on my mind. The blood of the dead bodies stained my clothes and left a lingering metallic scent in the air.
I knew that the path I had chosen was a dangerous one, and that the consequences of my actions would be severe. But I also knew that I had made the right choice. The lives of countless innocents were at stake, and it was up to me to protect them at all costs.
Finally, my mission was complete. The base was in ruins, the enemy forces decimated. I made my way back to the rooftop and signaled for Captain Lastimosa's ship to pick me up.
As I stepped back onto the ship, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. I had completed my mission, and the Frontier was one step closer to victory.
Authors note:
I hope this chapter is well received Titanfall is my favorite game of all time some things will be different but not that far off from the original I'm just making it so Jack has more experience with jump kit and movement as a pilot rather than a rifleman.
Goodbye until next time if there is one.
