As a selected member of the Ministry of Magic, I will now give the conclusive statement regarding Mr. Fenrir Greyback's trial.
The pale boy in his arms coughed again, nuzzling closer into his coat from the softly whipping wind as they walked towards the shed under scarce clouds and a black sky hinting with white light. Soft snow was sprinkling on the pair, white as the skin of his son, who he was trying to keep steady as he made his way through frozen grass stalks and the rocky dirt path leading to the door.
Mr. Greyback, you have been found guilty of multiple offenses conducted within the last year, most concerning two of the three Forbidden Curses with suspicion of the third, as well as other various murders of witches and wizards.
He had to tuck the boy under one arm to wave his hand and command the wooden door to open with a simple spell. The creaking was deafening and the boy whimpered from the sound. He carried the boy into the darkness inside, lit only by a single bulb that reflected off the small metal ring on the ground.
We as the Ministry have discussed your crimes, Greyback, and we are certain of your true loyalties now.
He pulled back the hidden latch and threw open the new entrance, the cold air from the underground cellar pushing against him. The boy shivered more.
Mr. Greyback, like many others these days, has been found to be an ally and direct supporter of the Dark Lord. This alone is enough for repercussions in these dire times, but the severity of the crimes you have been charged with alongside this fact is enough for confinement within Azkaban.
He crept down the unstable stairs with the boy and carefully set him down on the cold hardwood, watching him tuck into a ball and hold his hands over himself while groaning. "D-Dad, my head hurts…"
…But I cannot say this is an obscure conclusion for someone of your kind.
He tried comforting his son but he knew there was only so much he could still control. He slid some of the golden-brown hair out of the way and looked into his son's eyes which were obviously trying to avoid recognizing where he was. There was only fear and pain left in his expression. Not Remus.
It has been a well-discussed argument on the nature of werewolves, such as Mr. Greyback, and I can only scoff at those who continue to try and persuade the Ministry that there might be a bit of humanity left in that particular community. They're monsters, and I can't let our society play itself into their bloody clawed hands. Why we still let them roam around with the same amount of freedom as us witches and wizards I don't know.
His eyes were stinging. All he wanted was a moment to explain everything but he knew he had neither the time nor the heart. He slowly reached for the limp shackles on either side of Remus, trying not to let his panic seep through as he caught a glimpse of the slightly elongated nails.
Let Greyback be a prime example of the danger we are throwing ourselves into should we continue to let beasts like him wander freely. Think of the lives that could have been had this…this…
Remus began lightly crying after seeing the clamps at the end of the chains. He surrendered himself to his fate, weakly holding out his shaking hands. His father gasped for air and tried not to let himself break down as he snapped the cuffs shut. It was just so unsightly seeing him like this, chained like an animal. His son was eight, for god's sake, eight.
…this ABOMINATION been brought to justice sooner. I implore you, as a new father myself, to understand the dangerous times we live in and take action in whatever areas we can. Mindless creatures such as the werewolf are so easily swindled into the Dark Lord's will and letting them stay in the wizarding world is only strengthening his chances. To even call them creatures is a stretch in itself.
He crawled to the other side of the room, feeling around in the darkness for the only comfort he could probably provide his son. He found it and covered the shaking boy in the wool blanket. After taking a few short but well-needed breaths, he stood up and turned away from his son, grabbing the wall as he made his way up the cellar stairs. He heard pained coughing from behind him and couldn't keep back his tears any further.
Soulless, evil, deserving nothing but death.
"Dad… it hurts…"
If I could legally eradicate these wasteful life forms I would.
"I know, Remus, I know…" He swallowed his sadness to turn to his son one last time with an attempt of confidence. "Please stay strong for me. It'll be over soon and… and we'll spend the weekend together."
That is all I wish to say. All decisions are being finalized as we speak and this room is now dismissed.
"...Dad?"
Greyback is now dismissed as well. You will be escorted to your ride to Azkaban shortly. I suggest you keep quiet and not make a scene, if you even can.
"Am I a monster?"
And good riddance… we can only hope that MONSTER is tossed to the dementors.
"Don't ever say that again, Remus. You're nothing less than my son, and I'm honored to say you are of my blood." Lyall said, closing the trapdoor and leaving the cellar in darkness.
WELP that's another challenge writing prompt done! Basically, I challenged myself to write a flip-flopping perspective one-shot for HP, with the catch being that once I write a line/paragraph I cannot go back to it. Very frustrating at times… but fun nonetheless! I would love to hear everyone's thoughts and remember, all commenters and followers will be given a SHOUT OUT, which I will now do! :D
For favoriters… thank you to deandion92, Z0urCherri, and GreenMoon1990 for following and favoriting my stories! You guys are awesome and it was so cool to see people like the things I post!
