Seven long months had gone by in what felt like a mere breeze. And what seemed like the worst was over.
The first three months after Jyn and Cassian had discovered that they would become parents were hard. Fatigue and morning sickness plagued Jyn, but fortunately she was able to get medicine for the nausea.
Once the dreaded first trimester was over, the sickness went away, and the fatigue leveled out, but her hunger increased. She was providing not only for herself, but also for their baby. Cassian on the other hand, as that last month continued to draw near, found himself trying to scrape together anything he could.
Neither one of them had much in the way of credits, and had it not been for the rebellion, they would have even less. Although It bothered Cassian more than it did Jyn….
"Cassian, I don't see why you're so worried. It's not like having anything more would make it any different." Jyn told him, watching him count those precious credits he kept hidden away.
He turned around to look at her from his seat at his small desk, "But what if something goes wrong, and you need extra medical care? We can't take this lightly."
The thought of something going wrong made Jyn feel so much better, "Well, thank you for that reassurance." she remarked, walked over and stood behind cassian, rubbing his shoulders, "Cassian, Can I be honest with you?"
Her rubbing felt so good, he thought he might melt, of course, this gave Jyn an advantage; "Go ahead, Mi amour."
"What if we…."
"What if we did what?"
She sighed, "'What if we decided not to have the baby in a medbay?"
His body tensed up at her words, "Jyn. Are you serious? What good would that do?"
"Kind of. It would save us credits, and it would be more personal."
He didn't quite understand this statement. What did she mean by personal?
"Could you explain that a little more?"
Due to being alone throughout most of her adult life, and having trust issues, the concept of being confined to a medbay surrounded by medics and droids didn't sit right.
"Oh Cass, I know how important this is, for both of us. But I just don't like the idea of being fussed over and watched constantly."
"Well then, if it wasn't the medbay, where would you want to be?"
"Here. It'll be just a medic, you and I. It will be quiet, no distractions, no one rushing in."
It started to make sense to him now, as he thought about it deeper. "I understand. And If that's truly what you want, then we'll do that. You're the one that will be doing all of the work anyway." He smiled, and leaned his head back to kiss her. — She bent her head over, allowing him to place a kiss on her forehead. "Thank you so much.'' She whispered.
"My pleasure."
Something caused Cassian to wake up just before the sun rose the next morning. He turned over to face where Jyn laid, and attempted to lay his hand on Jyn's middle, but his hand missed and hit the mattress. He then opened his eyes, and to his alarm, she wasn't there. He sat up instantly, and turned his head, scanning the entire room. Where is she?!
After nearly jumping out of bed, the first place he checked was the small 'fresher by knocking on the door. There was no response, she wasnt here either.
The next thing he did was put on his bathrobe and stepping out of their quarters, went to next room over. He pressed a button on a control pad, letting the person inside know that someone was at the door.
The man came to the door, and spoke groggily into the two way speaker: "Who is it?"
"Bodhi, It's me. Cassian. I need to talk to you."
Bodhi gave in and the door slid open, and to his surprise, there was Cassian standing before him in a bathrobe.
He rubbed his eyes, "Cassian, it's five in the morning. What's so urgent that it couldn't wait till the sun came up?"
"Jyn dissapeared. And it's not the first time she's done this.", he fretted.
"Well, she's not here, and I've been sleeping, so I havent heard anything. But she couldn't go too far, right?"
"I don't put anything past her."
Bodhi could tell Cassian was near frantic, but tried to hide it. "Have you asked anyone else?"
"No, like you said, it's early."
"You should check with Baze and Chirrut, they seem like the next best people to ask."
"You might be on to something. Thank you."
"No problem, although I'm going back to bed." Bodhi yawned and closed the door.

Now Cassian swiftly walked down the hallway, on his way to the next room.
He did the same as he had on Bodhi's door.
Chirrut Imwe had an uncanny hearing ability, due to his blindness, so he alerted Baze Malbus about the person at the door. The large man simply opened the door, not wanting to waste any time.
"Andor, what's in the name of the force are you doing?" He huffed.
"I apologize, but Jyn is missing."
"What does he mean by missing?" Chirrut called out to Baze.
Cassian heard his question, "I woke up, and she wasn't in bed, and she wasn't in the room."
"Did you hear anything Chirrut?" Baze questioned, turning to face him.
"I wish I could tell you otherwise, but I haven't."
Cassian frowned, same answer as Bodhi.
"Well, that's okay. Thank you for your time."
"Of course."
Their door slid to a close. He didn't know what to do now, no one had seen or heard her. And then again, maybe he was just overreacting. Anyway, he decided to go back to their room, and hoping that by some miracle, she would be there.
As he made his way back to where he started, he stopped dead in front of the door. He heard a voice call his name, and that voice belonged to none other than Jyn. He pressed and held the speaker button, "Are you looking for someone?"
The sudden sound of Cassian's voice startled her, but she immediately went to the door. "Yes, I am. Get in here." She demanded, and opened it up. He stepped inside.
"Cassian, where were you?"
"Where was I? I've been frantically looking for you."
"Oh. Really?"
"Yes. I woke up and you were nowhere to be seen. I woke three people up just to ask where you were."
She began to feel bad, "Who did you wake up?"
"Just Bodhi, Baze and Chirrut. None of them heard you, so I came back."
"And I guess you want to know where I was, huh?"
His gaze went from serious to soft "Very much so. And are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I was just hungry. So I snuck into the mess hall, grabbed a glass of bantha milk and a couple cookies."
"I see. Just wake me up next time and tell me. I was really worried."
"I'm sorry, and I will."
They both then crawled under their blankets, and laid down facing each other, but then one more question came to mind.
"Jyn…."
"Yes? What is it?"
"How did you get past Kaytoo at the end of the hall?"
She hesitated, "He wasn't there. I didn't see him at all."
"Mhm." He nodded, but wherever Kaytoo had gone was beyond him.
"Goodnight Mi amor."
"Goodnight, Cass."
