Astro B.O.Y.D. came out on May 2nd so that's my headcanon for Boyd's birthday. Which means it's time to wish my favorite little guy a happy birthday.

This one is set when they're young adults.

"What was your best birthday?" Louie asked, his head nuzzled into Boyd's shoulder.

They were lying in bed, with Boyd's birthday about a week and a half away, so Boyd was immediately suspicious.

"Gotta be the first one I remember. Y'know, when Huey threw me that surprise party?"

"Oh yeah, that was a fun one. All the gift bags and prizes were YoYos because that was all Dewey could get his hands on."

"I think I still have one of those. I'm not as good at it as him, though."

"No one is."

"You're not planning a surprise party for me, are you?" Boyd asked, bemused.

Louie laughed, "Nooo, of course not."

"I'll be so surprised," Boyd promised. "Maybe you'll get in my top five."

They'd just seen all of Louie's family for his own birthday. Boyd didn't think he deserved everyone coming up and making a fuss over him. Louie at least came in a birthday value pack, you celebrate one you celebrate 'em all.

"Please don't go overboard for me," Boyd said.

"How will I ever make it into your top five if I don't go overboard."

"I will love anything you do for me," Boyd promised.

"I'll try not to go overboard," Louie said, but Boyd wasn't sure if it was a promise or just some line to get Boyd to stop worrying and go to sleep.

Louie was on the phone with Huey as soon as Boyd left for work the next morning.

"I need help planning something for Boyd's birthday."

Huey literally squealed on the other end. Party planning was one of his favorite hobbies.

"He doesn't want me going overboard," Louie added quickly.

"But overboard is my expertise," Huey pointed out, a little disappointed.

"Yeah, I know, Hue. But we should probably dial it back this time."

"Fine. I'm sure you already know the normal stuff, breakfast in bed, a break from chores."

"Yep, definitely already on my itinerary," Louie lied.

"Do you want us to come over that night? We could get dinner or drinks or something."

"Well, who's free?"

"I'll ask Violet and Gosalyn, you text Webby and Dewey and then Webby or Violet can ask Lena."

"Ooh, yeah, that'd be fun. Maybe after dinner, we can come back here and play some of those board games you and Boyd like."

"Low-key, chill, not overboard. Perfect. Are you going to tell Boyd about it or will it be a surprise?"

"Let's surprise him at the restaurant," Louie suggested. "He really, really liked that surprise party you threw him."

"You're not gonna top it," Huey teased.

"I'm just trying to be in the top five."

Over the next few days he confirmed everything with his siblings and friends and very innocently told Boyd that he planned on taking him out for a nice dinner on his birthday.

"And then what?" Boyd asked, not really needing or expecting more.

"We'll play it by ear."

Now Boyd was suspicious. Louie didn't play things by ear, he always had a plan.

"Don't go overboard," was all he said, pressing a kiss to Louie's cheek.

"I won't," Louie said again, and this time Boyd really didn't believe him.

But whatever Louie was up to, Boyd decided not to pry. Maybe it would be nice to be surprised.

Boyd's suspicions were confirmed on May 2nd. All day Louie had surprised him with little things, coffee and pastries from his favorite cafe, a break from cooking, washing dishes, and grocery shopping (Boyd's main three chores), and a bouquet of daisies in the kitchen when Boyd got home from work.

"Ready to go?" Louie asked, trying to act nonchalant instead of incredibly excited. Now that he lived away from Duckburg he was always elated when he got to see his siblings and friends, and he knew Boyd would be equally excited.

"Can I change?" Boyd asked with a laugh.

"I suppose. Wear that shirt with the constellations, you look amazing in that one."

"Don't I always look amazing?" Boyd joked. They both knew Louie was the stylish one.

"You do to me."

Boyd beamed at that, deciding he would wear the constellation shirt and his favorite red bowtie. Maybe the shirt was part of Louie's plan. The plan he so clearly didn't have.

"Are we doing anything after dinner?" Boyd asked again, poking at Louie's non-plan.

"Just winging it."

"Sure," Boyd said with a knowing smirk.

"Didn't want to go overboard," Louie shot back.

"Today has already been perfect, so whatever you have planned will just be the cherry on top."

Louie counted the guestlist in his head, six cherries on top.

"Let's just focus on dinner," Louie said, unable to contain a grin.

So the surprise would be at dinner. Boyd didn't dare speculate, not wanting to ruin the surprise. He briefly considered that there might not be a surprise, which would definitely be a surprise in its own right. Boyd was just happy to spend his birthday with his boyfriend.

Somehow, he hadn't expected that their dinner would be anything more than just the two of them. So when he saw a familiar-looking car in the restaurant's parking lot he was obviously surprised. He kept his mouth shut though until he actually saw Huey.

Boyd grabbed Louie's arm excitedly, "You invited Huey?!"

"Not just Huey."

Boyd's excitement tripled and he literally flew over to where he'd spotted Huey, crushing his old friend in a hug. Then he hugged the others in turn, his smile never wavering.

"I hope you didn't think your birthday surprises were going to end at coffee and flowers," Louie said, coming over.

"Ooh, flowers, nice touch," Huey complimented.

"Thank you."

"I knew you had something up your sleeve, I just didn't know it would be this perfect."

"After dinner, we can go back home and play those board games you like," Louie added, taking Boyd's hand and squeezing it.

Boyd's eyes shimmered, like the stars illustrated on his shirt.

"Thank you, Louie. This is amazing."

"Do I make your top five?"

Boyd leaned in and kissed him. "Definitely."
