A few hours later, the four gathered at the mouth of the Gates of Orpheus. With a gesture from Serenity, the mist covering part of the ground split apart, revealing a small, Stygian Iron statue of Orpheus.

"We need to sing here", Serenity informed them
Rapture looked angered at the mere thought of putting his life in Serenity's hands, but instead of protesting, he simply growled out a , "Don't let us down"
Serenity smirked, "Have I ever ?"
Riptide smiled serenely, "I suppose not"

With that, Serenity knelt down and, opening his mouth, began to sing. His voice was beautiful, soft and melodic, and it seemed to fill the whole area they were in. Even the maelstrom raging behind them began to calm down when he opened his mouth to sing,

"Heavy and hard is the heart of the king
King of iron, king of steel
The heart of a king loves everything
Like the hammer loves the nail"

Rapture's eyes widened, "H-he's not insulting his father, is he ?"
Riptide sighed, "That does sound like something he'd do. Hopefully, Hades can't hear this"

"But the heart of a man is a simple one
Small and soft, flesh and blood
And all that it loves is... someone
Someone is all that it loves

And Hades is king of the scythe and the sword
He covers the world in the colour of rust
He scrapes the sky and scars the Earth
And he comes down heavy and hard on us"

Rapture moaned in despair, "We're gonna get blown up"
Riptide patted him on the back

"But even that hardest of hearts unhardened
Suddenly when he saw her there
Persephone, in her mother's garden
Sun on her shoulder's. Wind in her hair"

Rapture looked at Riptide, "Are we romanticizing a kidnapping ?"
Riptide smiled playfully, and gave him a "shh" gesture

"The scent of flowers she held in her hand
And the pollen that fell from her fingertips
And suddenly Hades was only a man
The scent of nectar upon his lips"

With a sudden creak, the pillars of smoke vanished, as the pit began to glow from within with a fiery red light. Slowly, with mechanical "shunks", a stairway appeared leading down into the darkness, and presumably into the Underworld.

The three non-singers nearly exploded with relief, with Riptide turning back to thank Serenity only to find that he was still singing. The song wasn't over yet, it seems

"Where now is the heart of that ma-"

Rapture lunged at him, knocking him over and ending the song, "Are you insane ? We can't criticize a god ! Especially not Hades ! Especially seconds before entering his domain !"

Serenity gingerly got up, brushing dust off of his clothes, "Jeez, fine. Let's go"

With that, he took the first step down into the pit, and the rest followed
