A/N: A short & fluff filled thing I wrote for a friend's discord server event. I figured I'd share it here too because who doesn't like WAFF? lol.

Enjoy.

In A Glimpse

As a vampire, staying still should be easy, and keeping the same expression even easier. But Alec can't help but fidget, his expression flickering between amused and embarrassed. Amused because they have forever together, why did his mate want to hire someone to draw him? And embarrassed because of what Carlisle said after he inquired about such a thing.

"So I can have your beauty captured forevermore."

If Alec could blush, his face would have gone scarlet, but at least he didn't have to worry about that anymore.

"Can you tell your fidgeting husband to sit still?" the artist asks Carlisle, sounding a little ticked off. But Alec doesn't take it personally – it would be annoying if you're trying to capture someone's essence and they keep moving.

Cold hands press into Alec's shoulders, and he blinks. Since when was Carlisle behind him? But he tips his head up, smirking. "Not my fault."

His mate shakes his head, dusting his knuckles across Alec's cheek. "As I'm aware, darling, but can you indulge me?"

"What do I get in return?" Alec asks, wiggling his eyebrows. Carlisle rolls his eyes, but leans down, whispering something in his ear, and yeah, if he could blush, he definitely would have. "A-Ah, haha, yeah, that works."

The woman drawing him arches an eyebrow, obviously confused about the exchange, but Alec grins at her. "Sorry about that. I'll stop moving."

"Thank you," she replies, going back to sketching. For the rest of the portrait, Alec makes sure to keep up the appearance of breathing, even though he can tell she's a bit flabbergasted as to why he can stay so still. An hour later, she clicks her tongue, nodding. "There, done."

"Thank god," Alec gripes, but Carlisle snorts, walking over to the woman and giving her a lump sum of cash that makes her eyes go wide.

"T-This is far too much–"

"For capturing my beloved, no amount of money is enough," Carlisle reassures her. She thanks him profusely, handing him the drawing, and Alec can tell he gave her enough money to live comfortably for a long while.

When his mate walks back over to him, Alec pecks his lips, asking, "Can I see?"

Carlisle unwraps the artwork, a soft smile on his face. "She lives up to her reputation."

Alec takes it in, nodding, pleased. "Yeah, she does. Now… are you gonna fulfill your promise?"

"Rascal."

The shorter vampire smirks, and when they reach a darkened alleyway, shoves his mate against a brick wall and kisses him. This is one of his favorite things about being a vampire – he can kiss Carlisle forever if he wants to.

Alec's thankful his mate lets him take the lead on the liplock, but after a while, Carlisle breaks the contact with his own smirk on his face.

"Surely you don't want me to fulfill it in an alley?"

Alec laughs. "Nope." He kisses him again. "Home. Now."

And, once they're home and spent, Carlisle hangs the art in his study, the smallest of smiles on his features. Alec leans against him, nuzzling his nose against his mate's neck, no words needing to be exchanged between them.

"It really does look nice," Alec remarks. "Now I gotta get someone to draw you."

A laugh and stolen kiss is all he gets as a reply.
