Chapter 2

.

Officer Sorbo briefed the other police officers on what he knew, or at least a version of what he knew. He ofcourse claimed he learned all of this from books, that as a child he was fascinated by Greek mythology. It was shortly after this that Ares himself came to see "Sorbo." Noone else seemed to move, clearly this conversation was only between the two brothers.

.

Sorbo: What do you want Ares.

Ares: What after all this time, no hug for your big brother?

Sorbo: How did you get out of your tomb?

Ares: Not important. You really thought that could keep me contained forever?

Sorbo: I was hoping. I take it this is your doing.

Ares: I wish I could take credit for this. But no, people seem pretty gung ho for war ever since I got out. Two world wars, and nearly a third one over Cuba, I missed so much while I was asleep. No matter, America and the Soviet Union will be at war soon enough, and now that they both have nuclear weapons...

Sorbo: It won't happen, the two sides will find a way to peacefully coexist.

Ares: Keep telling yourself that. Let me know who did this, whoever it is has a lot of potential.

.

When Ares left everyone started moving again. It took Sorbo a moment to regain his composure.

.

Joe: You okay Kevin?

Sorbo: Yeah, a thought occurred to me. In ancient times, if two city states were at war, both sides would be sacrificing puppies to Ares to ensure victory.

Joe: You think this killer started with animals and is now escalating?

Sorbo: Most serial killers do start with animals.

Joe: There was an incident, about a month ago. An animal shelter, the manager reported his suspicions that one of his employees was strangling puppies before he gassed them. The employee was fired, but we didn't have enough evidence to arrest him for cruelty to animals.

Sorbo: Who was this employee?

Joe: I don't remember his name, but it should be in my notes, I'll check.
