Draco Fontaine and The Greedy Daughter
In 2022, during the Christmas season, in a world of anthropomorphic specimens referred to as "kats", a female Muslim coroner named Eshita was suffering from the fact that she transformed into a werewolf every night at the full moon after being bitten by one while studying medicine in Europe. Because of this, Eshita had to handcuff herself to her bed every night while she slept. Eshita's colleagues from the NYPD: technician Kathy O'Reilly, Major Draco Fontaine, technician Marvin Rodgers, former bounty hunter Frontinus Jeffries, and Murray the wizarding consultant were taking turns looking after her every night. Eshita's family considered sending their daughter to an asylum to get help beforehand but reconsidered after learning that there would be no cure found for her werewolf condition. If Eshita were to be sent to an asylum, she would be considered incurable, so her best bet was to restrain herself at night to avoid transforming into a werewolf. Draco, Frontinus, Marvin, Kathy, and Murray all had tranquilizers ready in case Eshita transformed. While Murray was standing guard over Eshita one night, Eshita broke out of her handcuffs after transforming into a werewolf and broke out of her house. Murray didn't notice Eshita broke out since he was busy watching Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. Draco, Frontinus, Marvin, and Kathy angrily confronted Murray after learning that Eshita escaped. Because Murray was fearful that Eshita could die from hypothermia during the winter season, the team realized that they had to find her soon.
Draco and Kathy went searching for Eshita while Frontinus went with Murray to do the same. Marvin stayed behind in case Eshita came back as well as to listen to the NYPD radio channel. All of a sudden, Draco and Kathy noticed a blood trail and followed it up a snowy mountain until they found a dead body. Draco and Kathy at first suspected it to be Eshita, but then it turned out it was actually Filomena, an Italian female. Filomena was the greedy daughter of a widow and was so greedy that the widow was unsure of what to do with her. The widow came to lose her fortune after she invested in some bank stock since the bank failed, making the investors lose everything. Commissioner Henry O'Reilly, Kathy's grandfather, had Filomena's body brought to Murray for autopsy. Murray examined every wound that Filomena had on her body and confirmed that it came from a wolf attack. Murray found traces of cocoa and marshmallows in her wounds, which must've been transferred from the werewolf's teeth when the werewolf bit Filomena. The first addition to the profile of Filomena's killer was that Filomena's killer enjoyed hot cocoa. To protect Eshita in case she attacked Filomena, Commissioner O'Reilly claimed that Filomena died from an animal attack while out in the woods. However, O'Reilly implored that Draco and Frontinus continue to investigate in hopes that Eshita didn't attack Filomena.
Commissioner O'Reilly chastised Kathy for getting involved in the investigation as Kathy was just a university student. For years Kathy wanted to be a detective, but O'Reilly forbade it since that was dangerous work and insisted that Kathy study computer science as well as library management at a university for a more prosperous life since Kathy always had a gift for technology. Kathy then became furious with her grandfather for wanting to control her own life and left the precinct in anger. Commissioner O'Reilly calmly requested to Draco and Frontinus that Kathy not be taking part in this investigation in any form, which Draco and Frontinus reluctantly agreed to despite believing that Kathy should decide her own future, not her grandfather. Commissioner O'Reilly then excused himself since he had to get ready for a conference in Washington but urged Draco and Frontinus to inform Filomena's mother about her daughter's passing. As Draco and Frontinus were leaving, they ran into Marvin, who saw Kathy leave in anger. Deducing that she got into an argument with her grandfather, Marvin went out to look for her as he secretly had feelings for Kathy which was obvious to everyone except for him, Kathy, and O'Reilly. Unlike Kathy, Marvin still worked in the NYPD and Frontinus urged Marvin to answer his phone in case they called since they would need his help with any electronic evidence they could encounter. Marvin agreed to it and left to find Kathy.
On the way to the old widow's cottage, Draco and Frontinus ran into Santa Claus, who was giving out presents to the kittens. Draco believed in Santa Claus while Frontinus didn't. Frontinus argued that it was impossible for someone to fit into a chimney only for Draco to refuse to listen to it. Draco and Frontinus went to confront Santa Claus, who greeted them. Frontinus was suspicious when he learned that Santa Claus knew who he and Draco were. Santa Claus revealed that he knew Commissioner O'Reilly since O'Reilly was a kitten and since O'Reilly used to ask for a train set every Christmas which Santa would recall delivering. Santa recalled how he gave Draco a new mathematics textbook every Christmas and how Frontinus got new sporting equipment. However, Frontinus still refused to believe Santa was real as Frontinus believed his parents bought him the sporting equipment. Draco told Santa about Filomena and was saddened by her death as Filomena wasn't going to be getting presents from Santa this year. Much to Draco's surprise, Santa revealed that he didn't bother to give Filomena any presents because she was actually on his naughty list. Santa explained that Filomena was always greedy towards her mother as she consumed everything in the house, leaving nothing left for her mother to eat. Filomena even mistreated the wolf Dogo whenever her mother wanted to borrow Dogo's frying pan since she would contaminate it willingly. Because of Filomena's actions, Santa decided that she deserved no presents and just a lump of coal. Santa learned what happened to Filomena from one of his elves, he felt fate dealt with her in a cold manner. Santa left to tend to his reindeer and wished Draco as well as Frontinus good luck with their investigation.
Meanwhile, Marvin went out looking for Kathy and thought she would be at the inn where she frequented only to find Henry the chemist, and Murray there. Henry and Murray revealed that they were in the bar to try to retrieve Natalia the bartender's secret recipe for her pudding since it will be for O'Reilly's Christmas party, but Natalia refuses to hand it over to them. Henry and Murray asked Marvin for help only for Marvin to politely decline since he had to find Kathy. However, Henry and Murray denied that Kathy was there. Marvin then left to continue searching for her. Marvin considered this situation to be a cold day in hell, especially Henry and Murray when Natalia vowed to deny them entry at the bar the next time they tried to guess the secret recipe of her pudding.
Draco and Frontinus went to meet with the widow to inform her of her daughter Filomena having been executed by a wolf attack. The widow could think of one person who would be furious with Filomena and that would be her werewolf neighbor Dogo. The widow revealed that because Dogo had a frying pan, she would send Filomena to borrow it from Dogo. Dogo was pleased to loan his skillet to the widow and always sent an omelet, which he considered a delectable dish, in the skillet. Dogo made sure never to burn the omelet by accident while cooking it. The omelet was intended for both the widow and his daughter. However, Filomena was so self-centered that she would always eat the omelet on the way back to her mother. The widow never got to have a taste. After the widow finished using the skillet for her cooking, she would task Filomena to clean the skillet and then send it back to the wolf accompanied with bread as well as cream. Filomena would act differently than reliable by consuming the bread as well as the cream, not washing up the skillet, sending dirty ash instead of bread to Dogo, and sending ditch water instead of cream to Dogo. When meeting with Dogo at the marketplace, the widow exchanged words with him and they both discovered what Filomena did. Dogo then left after that in a haste. Frontinus recalled that Murray said the cause of death for Filomena was biting from a werewolf, so he asked the widow if Dogo drank hot cocoa, which the widow confirmed he did. Draco and Frontinus both decided to question Dogo about Filomena.
Draco and Frontinus went to visit Dogo at his home. Dogo admitted to having been upset with Filomena at the marketplace but explained that he went home to drink hot cocoa afterward. Frontinus began to suspect that Dogo ate Filomena, but Draco reminded Frontinus that Dogo drinking hot cocoa was not much to go on. Frontinus agreed. Draco recalled in the autopsy report that Filomena died around midnight and asked Dogo where he was at that time. Dogo explained that he was at home cooking some scrambled eggs for dinner. No individual can confirm Dogo's alibi at that time so he was still a suspect. Draco decided that he and Frontinus should look at a new perspective from Filomena's phone. After leaving Dogo's residence, Draco hacked Filomena's phone to examine her text messages. From her texts, Filomena had a heated exchange with someone called Aztec, who was upset with what Filomena did with Dogo. Frontinus recalled that Dogo didn't mention anyone named Aztec to him and Draco while being interrogated. Draco revealed to Frontinus that Aztec was the leader of the wolf pack that Dogo was a part of, so Frontinus decided that Aztec was the next suspect.
Aztec was the leader of the wolf pack that Dogo was a part of. Draco and Frontinus learned from Dogo that Aztec would be at a museum exhibition on minerals which is why they went to confront him. Aztec admitted that he was upset with Filomena for making the skillet dirty since Dogo cooked all of the pack members' meals with it. For his alibi, Aztec was in the marketplace where he stayed until midnight since he got his feet stuck in cement. Draco checked Aztec's statement and confirmed his alibi as the NYFD had to arrive to get Aztec out. So Frontinus decided that they could rule Aztec out as a suspect because of his alibi. Aztec revealed that he never liked Filomena because of her treatment of Dogo and her mother. Draco noted the hot cocoa that Aztec drank while speaking with them and wrote it down in his notes. As Draco and Frontinus left the museum, Frontinus expressed annoyance on their crusade in finding Filomena's killer as the only lead they had was that her killer drank hot cocoa. Draco began to question what Filomena was doing out at midnight which Frontinus also started to question. Because of that, Draco suggested that they should search Filomena's room for clues hoping to learn more about what happened to her.
While Draco and Frontinus went to search Filomena's room for clues, Marvin finally tracked down Kathy to the university library where Kathy was eating a rainbow-layered cake while studying. Kathy admitted to Marvin that she read books in response to stress from her grandfather. Marvin admitted that Kathy did have a right to decide her own future, not O'Reilly. Kathy decided that if she couldn't work for the NYPD, she could work for the FBI in digital forensics to distance herself from her grandfather. Marvin was relieved to know Kathy was fine and the two started to share a moment since Kathy was touched that Marvin came searching for her. The moment was then interrupted by Marvin getting a phone call from Draco, who asked Marvin to process Filomena's phone back at headquarters. Marvin then left not before agreeing to meet with Kathy for coffee sometime after work. On the way back to headquarters, Marvin finally found Eshita, with her clothes torn and in tears. Eshita had been up all night without sleep and began to cry hysterically, claiming that she was the one who killed Filomena. So because of this, Marvin decided to take Eshita back to O'Reilly.
Eshita was later on in the interrogation room with O'Reilly, Henry, Murray, and Marvin with her. Because of the arrangement made between the United Nations and the wizarding society, those who suffered from werewolf transformation at the full moon were to be confined in an institute until there was a way for them to be treated. The United Nations contributed by sending a portion of tax money for it. Eshita admitted that Filomena tried to kill her before because of her werewolf condition with a crossbow and Eshita planned revenge ever since by doodling in her journal. Eshita showed everyone the doodles in her journal that O'Reilly presented her with to confirm her statement. O'Reilly, becoming glum, admitted that he would have to send Eshita to that wizarding institute. O'Reilly then took his cane and sadly left the interrogation room to make those arrangements with the wizarding institute.
While Draco and Frontinus were cleaning Filomena's room, they found that Filomena had an interest in becoming a dragon hunter because of her magazines. Filomena opted to head to the wizarding world to hunt each dragon specimen, including the infant ones, for money sometime. Frontinus admitted that this was an extension of Filomena's persona from greediness to murderous which Draco agreed upon. Draco then found a GPS that Filomena stole from Santa Claus and they both opted to return the GPS to Santa Claus after they were done searching Filomena's room. Draco went to speak with the widow about Filomena's interest in dragon hunting and the widow admitted that Filomena was discreet in her activities. Draco asked the widow to describe the last time she saw Filomena. The widow revealed it was last night when Filomena agreed to return the frying pan to Dogo as a favor to her. Draco then asked if Dogo had more than one frying pan and the widow revealed that Dogo only had one. Draco then went up to speak to Frontinus and told Frontinus that he discovered who killed Filomena.
Draco and Frontinus later called Dogo over to the interrogation room. Dogo asked if they found out who killed Filomena and Draco revealed that he knew it was Dogo who did it. Draco knew this because he saw that Dogo had the frying pan in the kitchen and didn't mention to them that Filomena returned it when her mother sent her to return it hours before she died. Dogo started sweating and denied killing Filomena by claiming that he forgot to tell them, but Draco revealed that he examined the bite patterns that Dogo made on a piece of wood with the ones on Filomena and realized that they matched. Dogo then decided to come clean after punching a wall in anger. Dogo explained that after he spoke to the widow at the market, he decided to punish Filomena for her unkind presents of dirt and ditch water as well as her greedy way with the omelets he had given her and the bread as well as the cream that the widow sent to him. Dogo was upset with the way Filomena treated her mother and decided that the widow was better off without her. When Filomena was on her way to return the frying pan, Dogo ambushed Filomena and started biting her. After finishing her off, Dogo took a bath in the lake to wash Filomena's blood off his fur. Afterward, Dogo took the frying pan and went home to use his curtain to dry himself. Dogo was then placed under arrest. Because Dogo confessed, Draco felt that the judge would take it into consideration. Because Draco felt sympathy for Dogo, he decided to improve Dogo's conditions in the wizarding prison for enchanted species.
At Dogo's trial, Judge Hilton, in a systematic manner, sentenced Dogo to the wizarding prison for thirty years with psychological monitoring and a chance for parole in 10 years. Because Aztec was disgusted by what happened to Filomena, Aztec banned Dogo from taking part in the wolf pack and decided that Dogo would live in exile after being released. To smooth Dogo's transition into the prison system, Dogo was assigned to cook meals for the prison with his frying pan which included cooking his omelets, which Dogo gladly agreed upon. To show his gratitude toward Draco for making him continue cooking, Dogo gave Draco the pudding he bought from Natalia the other day that Dogo still kept in his refrigerator. Draco had a diet of TV dinners but admitted he was planning to cultivate the skills he had in cooking so he can make his own meals someday. So that way, Draco can make his own burgers without bacon grease since the restaurants he went to didn't filter them out. Frontinus admitted that if Dogo had been a wolf cub, Judge Hilton would've had to let him off due to being a minority which Draco agreed upon. O'Reilly was then relieved to know that Eshita didn't kill Filomena and canceled his plans to transfer her to an asylum.
At the NYPD Christmas party, Henry and Draco teamed up to get the molecular composition of Natalia's pudding to get the recipe for it. They even consumed the omelets that Dogo sent to them from prison. Eshita vowed to cultivate her own garden after Christmas to not only absorb carbon dioxide in the air but to also grow vegetables so that Eshita can produce her own omelet. Everyone then exchanged gifts for each other where Draco got Kathy a shiny porcelain doll mask, Kathy got Eshita a DVD pack on Doogie Houser, Henry got Frontinus a football, Frontinus got Marvin a new Call of Duty game, Eshita got Henry new tires for his vehicle, Draco got a box of chocolates from Murray, and Murray got a skateboard from Henry who promised to show him how to use it later. Kathy planned on escaping her grandfather's shadow soon with the porcelain doll mask that Draco bought her. Draco decided to take some food over to the widow to feed her since she was living in poverty and because Filomena never let the widow eat the meals intended for her. On the way over to the widow's home, Draco stopped by to meet with Santa Claus, who was looking for his missing GPS. Draco revealed to Santa that Filomena had it and returned it to Santa Claus. Draco noticed that the GPS was out of date, so he updated the GPS with a new operating system as well as better security. Santa Claus noticed that Draco added a new feature to the GPS where a constellation would be used to guide the GPS user to a particular location. Draco then went to the widow's house.
