Okay so this is going to be the definitive version of this story since the first had multiple flaws, and the second one I wrote myself into a corner when I didn't introduce Athrun's team as soon as I should have so I want this to be the version that sees the most success.
Disclaimer: I don't own gundam wing or seed, only any OCs that appear.
Heero wasn't completely sure what he was supposed to do at this juncture in his life, the eve wars have come to end with both the defeat of Treize Khushrenada and the terrorist organization known as white fang. Thanks to the near destruction of the very earth itself the overwhelming majority of humanity had lost the will to continue on with fighting and with Relena's guidance the world had begun steadily moving towards complete disarmament and world peace throughout the entirety of earth and space alike.
However there were still factions who remained steadfastly opposed to this either because it didn't benefit them personally or it clashed with whatever political ideals they might have held, in response to the said looming threat to the peace currently reigning throughout the after colony era a special anti terrorist organization that came to be known as the preventers was established.
Since it was the closest thing that provided Heero with the type of purpose he was looking for, he immediately became a member carrying out numerous investigations and missions to bring any of the group's enemies down before they could do any real damage to the new world structure that Relena had created.
To that end the current mission that the perfect soldier was undergoing was the investigation of an anomaly that was detected within the sector that he had just arrived at.
The nature of said anomaly was completely unknown, in fact there was really no evidence to suggest it was something that could even be remotely categorized as a threat, still the current state of the world was far more fragile than most believed suffice to say it would only take one incident at the right time and place for all of mankind to head down a path the lead to new wars that would subsequently lead to far more lives being needlessly lost.
With that being the case the risk was too great to ignored, regardless of how low the odds of this anomaly being a threat might have been whether it was only 10% chance or even a mere 0.01% chance the preventers couldn't afford to be lenient or complacent, one slip up would all it took for the world to plunged into a new war and undo all of Relena's work to ensure a true lasting peace.
The area that Heero was investigating was actually barren of anything, there weren't any colonies, resource satellites, essentially it was nothing more than the empty void of outer space.
Or rather there was nothing in the area save for something that couldn't quite be explained away rationally, what looked like what could only be described as a cross between a shimmer and ripple floated right in the middle of space a fair distance away from the Wing Zero. Looking at his mobile suit's radar Heero confirmed that this was indeed the source of the anomaly that had been detected by his fellow preventers prior to him being sent out to investigate it.
From from he could immediately tell it was clear that this couldn't be the work of any potential terrorist group since there was not a soul aside from himself out here nor any type of machinery that could cause this, still the left the question of why this...ripple was even here and why it emitted such a strong signal that the preventers were able to detect from the base of the R11 resource satellite.
Heero decided to skim pver any data the zero system might of gathered but it was for naught, even Wing Zero couldn't make heads or tails of this anomaly. It defied any scientific understanding, in fact it seemed like something out of a fictional universe more than anything.
If it weren't for Heero seeing it with his own eyes he might have brushed this off as a figment of someone's imagination or maybe a glitch in the system.
Whatever this thing was Heero needed a way to gather more information on it before he returned; however, he wasn't sure where to start.
"Hmm?" Before Heero could decide on how to further proceed with his investigation the ripple suddenly began expanding in size at such a fast rate the Heero had any type of chance to react before Wing Zero was engulfed within it.
Over the course of the following moments the inside of Wing Zero's cockpit begun gradually becoming brighter and brighter before the entire inside was engulfed in white forcing Heero to shield his eyes whilst letting out a grunt.
What was going on, was this an attack of some kind, had Heero fallen into a trap set by an unknown enemy, a large part of him almost refused to believe it outright since the area he come to consisted of nothing more than empty space meaning there was no way for anyone to hide out here unless they had cloaking but even then that every scenario left the question of why they weren't making any move to attack.
Gradually the light died back down allowing Heero to reopen his eyes to take a look around to find out what had just happened. Once visibility was restored Heero moved to run a quick diagnostic check on the Wing Zero to make sure it didn't suffer damage but stopped when he saw a sight on his primary monitor that left his nearly stunned.
"How is this possible?!" That was the only thing the perfect soldier could bring himself to say, the scenery outside the confounds of his mobile suit had completely changed, where there had once been nothing but the vast empty void of space there was now a astronomical amount of debris all over the place with many of the larger pieces not matching the makeup of any space colony known in the After colony era but that was not the most alarming thing, rather it was a group of four mobile suits.
Mobile suits that Heero was not the least bit familiar with, unlike the models OZ produced which tended to have square or rectangular camera visors all the mobile suits in the area had bright pink monoeye sensors with long fins protruding from the back of their heads.
There of the units were of identical design sporting a green color scheme along with two wings attached to their backs, in terms of armaments all three held what looked to be machine gun type rifles along with swords mounted to their hip.
The final unit had a gray color scheme and more angular body compared to the others which all had Square chests and appeared to have the same weaponry with the added addition of a shield mounted to its left arm with a gatling guy attached to the end of the shield. If Heero had to guess the green units were probably mass production types with the gray unit potentially being a commander type or at least a model that possibly had a better overall performance compared to the other three.
Heero didn't have much of a chance to contemplate anything pertaining to these unknown mobile suits before one of the green units leveled the gun at him confirming part of what the gundam pilot already strongly suspected, these were hostile forces, as for what group they belonged to or the specifics of their goal both were still complete mysteries but at the very least Heero was able to confirm that the anomaly was indeed connected to an enemy force, he would have to report this to the preventer organization as soon as he gained the opportunity to do so.
For now however he had to deal with these new advisories in front of him. As the green unit that had taken aim at him began firing its rifle Heero quickly climbed above their line of fire before returning fire with his own rifle instantly destroying the opposing unit.
One of the remaining green units decided to retaliate with its own rifle whilst the other one hoisted its' rifle to switch it out with its sword and flew towards Heero intent on engaging him in close combat. In response Heero simply disposed of the mobile suit armed with a sword via his shoulder mounted machine guns before turning to do the same with the last green colored mobile suit.
Unlike its two downed allies this mobile suit had the sense to evade Heero's own line of fire all the while one of the alarms inside the Wing Zero's cockpit went off alerting the gundam pilot to an incoming attack as the perfect soldier evaded a spray of bullets from the gray colored unit.
The last remaining green mobile suit followed up with a hail of its own bullets which Heero quickly evaded before the unit used its free hand to draw its sword.
Before Heero could try and return fire the gray colored unit fired upon him once more forcing Heero to dodge the newest number of bullets, while this was happening the last green colored unit decided to close in on Heero with its sword swinging the weapon overhead in a wide arc.
In response Heero quickly parried the strike and pushed the opposing mobile suit back in the process via a swipe of his shield before firing his rifle at the gray colored mobile suit which narrowly pulled to the side in time to avoid being shot down all together.
The third green colored suit began taking aim with its rifle but unfortunately for its pilot Heero was one step ahead of them and already closing in with the point end of his shield pointed directly at the machine's chest.
Before the enemy machine could begin firing upon Wing Zero the pointed end of Heero's shield extended outward piercing straight through the machine's main body, killing the pilot in the process.
The final opponent open fired upon Heero with their rifle but the gundam pilot merely flew to the side dodging the projectiles before hurling the downed green mobile suit's remains at the final enemy who vied to simple cleave through it via a quick draw of their own sword before making a beeline for Heero whilst shooting at with their rifle.
The perfect soldier merely avoided the spray of bullets before responding in kind with his shoulder machine guns, rather than dodging like Heero half expected the enemy pilot chose to use their own shield to block the incoming bullets and continue closing in on Heero.
Seeing as his machine gun's ammo had been blocked he decided to switch to his buster rifle, to his surprise the enemy pilot managed to pull move he didn't expect and throw their sword right at the main armament of Wing Zero forcing Heero to veer to the side to avoid losing his weapon but the enemy pilot quickly followed up taking main at the buster rifle with their own gun.
Whoever pilot has better judgment compared to the others which Heero had already downed, given the tech level of their mobile suit they really didn't have much if any hope of damaging Wing Zero even if they landed a blow let alone win in a head on fight one on one trying to take out Heero's primary weapon was certainly their most pragmatic choice.
Regardless it wasn't going to change to outcome of this skirmish, with the appearance of this unknown enemy Heero now had a mission to quell them and this precisely what he intended to do. Shifting his buster rifle out of the enemy's line of fire he swiftly followed up via repositioning Wing Zero so that he could block the bullets whilst simultaneously taking aim at the enemy once more and letting another beam loose from his buster rifle.
Once more the enemy pilot moved to dodge it and narrowly avoided being shot down all together however they still ended up losing its' left arm and leg of the unit before the said model suit veered off course and strained into what appeared to be a port of one of the larger pieces of debris.
Upon seeing the mobile suit crash into the ground of the port and slide across it floor until it was no longer visible Heero merely flew into the port until he regained sight of the gray mobile suit's remain that had began steadily floating into the air due to the lack of gravity before noting a now opened section with its torso.
Taking a closer look via the use of his secondary cameras Heero saw that the plate that had previously covered the section was floating a fair distance away and that the inside of the opened section was comprised of a multitude of parts making it apparent that the inside was the mobile suit's cockpit which was now barren of anyone.
'So the pilot ejected.' The perfect soldier noted within his mind before looking over all of his secondary camera's only to find that not a single one of them spotted a human, meaning that whoever the pilot of the down mobile suit had managed to hide themselves within the ruins of this place.
Unfortunately Heero wasn't wearing any pilot suit this time since he never intended to disembark and making any attempt to put it on while confined to the cockpit which wasn't that space would likely be implausible so he couldn't exit his mobile suit.
Before Heero could mull over any potential options he may or may not have had Wing Zeros systems suddenly alerted him to another signal. The gundam pilot initially suspect it was either more enemy pilots or perhaps another anomaly but both turned out to be wrong.
Rather than anything that might have come to the gundam pilot's mind the alert was due to the detection of a distress signal a little over a kilometer away from his current position.
He wasn't sure what the source was or even if they were friendly, neutral, or hostile, still whoever launched the signal might be his best source for information on wherever he currently was and maybe whatever happened to bring him here, aside from that there was also no way he'd be able to interrogate the pilot that had escaped since he couldn't even try to search for them in any capacity so he really had no other option.
Gunning his thrusters Heero made his way towards the location that the distress signal was coming from.
As he made his way ever closer to the location who looked over Wing Zero's files but to his surprise or maybe more accurately his complete shock Zero had absolutely no data or record of this place, in fact the Wing Zero wasn't able to pull up any type of map for any place nearby or anywhere even remotely familiar.
How could this even be possible? Heero was already piece together that he wasn't in the area was was initially investigating (the complete change in scenery made that fact a given) but with the complete lack of any type of record of this place or any other that might have been nearby, it was practically like Heero was no longer with any known part of the universe at all.
Soon Heero arrived ubon a scene that was much more horrendous than the previous skirmish he had just gone through.
From what he could make out multiple mobile units or more some type of unknown mobile armors were attacking a ship of some kind. The mobile armors in question were purple in color with a flat main body with with looked like two spherical pods attached to the bottom half of the front end with each said pod having a set of thrusters attached to their far sides, in between the pods was a liners gun and mounted to the bottom of each pod was a single missile.
Not only did the mobile armors not match anything in Zero's data banks but neither did the ship they were in the process of destroying meaning neither side was of any group known to Heero and likely none of the preventers.
Might have been logical to simply stay out of the skirmish taking place since Heero might only risk making unnecessary enemies of one side or the other however there was one factor that made that idea unacceptable.
The ship being attacked had no armaments on it, in fact regardless of its origin being unknown the gundam pilot could very clearly tell it was little more than a non military vessel.
This might have harbored a level or risk for the perfect soldier but the fact remained civilians who had no means to defend themselves were being needlessly butchered and that compelled him to act as he remembered what he was once told by the man who had raised him.
The only way to live a good life is to act on your emotions.
With that saying in mind Heero open fired upon the mobile armors taking out at least three of them with his initial spray of bullets, unfortunately one of the remaining mobile located on the opposite side of the civilian vessel from Heero's current position left its' pair of missiles loose right into the side of the ship which ended up destroying the vessel outside and killing anyone on board.
Heero felt a surge of anger well up within before curbing it not wanting to act rashly. There was nothing he could do to save any of those who had just died but he would make sure their murderers paid for the crime they had just committed.
Taking aim Heero utilized his shoulder machine guns once again wiping out another pair before following up wotj his buster rifle and destroying a third mobile armor which had been flying towards him likely hoping to retaliate for the loss of its comrades.
The last of the mysterious mobile armors had turned their attention to Heero firing upon him witj their linear guns, ironically enough they had all group together in a formation likely say they could focus fire on the Wing Zero and maximize any potential damage they might deal out. The move in and of itself was an understandable one and in most other scenarios likely the most effective one however here the formation only made it easier for Heero to determine their downfall.
After evading the entire group's line of fire Heero then increased the output of his buster rifle to 7% before firing, with the increase in size from the beam itself the shot was able to engulf and destroy all the mobile armors in one fell swoop ending the fight as suddenly as it had even began.
Looking around the battle Heero spotted another vessel which unlike the one that had just been destroyed was quite heavily armed, it's arments consisted of three vulcan cannons with one being located in front of the bridge and two on the ventral hull along woth four missile launchers which were externally located on the top left and right along with the bottem left and right sides of the ship.
Apparently whoever was in charge of the ship must of seen everything that had just transpired since the ship fired a a salvo of missiles from each launcher prompting Heero each shoot them down with his shoulder guns, dodge them, or block them with his shield.
Increasing the output of his buster rifle to 15% he fired a long beam which soared through space and right through the hull of the unknown ship before the entire vessel went up in flames killing everyone on board in mere moments.
Letting out a sigh now that any and all hostiles were neutralized Heero took time to survey the immediate scene somewhat regretful over the lives lost before wing zero alerted him to another distress signal that was alarmingly close to the civilian ship that had just been destroyed.
Scanning the area it didn't take long for one of Wing Zero's secondary cameras to spot what appeared to be a single person life pod.
"So someone survived the attack after all." The teen pilot mused before switching his radio to an open channel.
"Attention, this is Heero Yuy to the escape pod do you read?"
For a few moments Heero was only met was silence before a voice from the other side came through.
"U-um this is Lacus Clyne along with mr pink." Said a feminine voice that from the sound of it likely belonged to someone around the same age as the perfect soldier.
"We're saved, we're saved!" A mechanical voice followed up.
"I'll get you to safety as soon as I can but first I need to ask. Where is the nearest colony or recourse satellite from here?" A part of Heero really didn't want to ask for this type of question to a civilian since he didn't want to bring them into his problems and he didn't know what they'd do if they knew he was more or less lost in the middle of space but the fact remained he needed information.
"Um the Plants would take at least a week to get back to and I'm not entirely sure of any bases under Zaft's command that might be out here."
ZAFT? What in the world was ZAFT? A terrorist group, maybe but then again maybe not, the way Lacus had just spoken of them gave Heero the impression they were intended to be a more official military force.
Still, if Heero decided to go with the assumption that this ZAFT force was an actual military force the prominent question was how he nor any anyone had ever heard anything about said group?
There were already too many questions as things already stood and the were only increasing by the minute. Just how far put in space did Heero end up that he was encountering a possible militia force he knew absolutely nothing on?
"I suppose we might be able to head to one of the Colonies belonging to Orb."
"Orb?"
"Yes a nation that has chosen to remain neutral in the war between Earth and the Plants."
Now Heero was internally alarmed now mpre than ever, as much as he wanted to dismiss this girl's claim of a war, her tone didn't leave the slightest hint that she was lying and even Wing Zero seemed to urge Heero to believe her.
But what this girl had just claimed was beyond irrational, last Heero had checked the entire near entirety of humanity had lost its will to continue fighting. How could another war be taking place? Surely the preventers would take measures to prevent any potential new war before it could begin with or without Heero, then there were all those unknown groups and other variables the perfect soldier was in the dark about, ZAFT? the Plants? Orb? There was just too much Heero couldn't make any semblance of sense of. "I know this might sound off putting, but I need to ask where we currently are."
"We're in the debris belt amongst the ruins of Junius 7."
"I see." Was all Heero said in response, Juniois 7 was yet a other place he had never heard anything about but he had guessed that it was essentially what the ruins of this colony was called before it was destroyed.
Judging from the shape of some of the larger pieces of this colony it was at least apparent that its structure did not match the general shape of any colony known in the after colony era.
'What's going on?!' Heero thought in frustration before his radar picked another vessel within the area.
"Hold on for a bit. I've detected a nearby ship."
"Okay and thank you Heero for saving both me and mr pink."
"It was the right thing to do." With that Heero grabbed a hold of the escape pod and began heading in the direction his mobile suit's systems had indicated.
He didn't know weather this ship was crewed by an armed group or a simply civilian vessel, either way it was still his best bet for moving forward with this rather bizarre situation, with all the names of place he had no knowledge of along with the unknown groups and mobile units he had encountered within such a short time span he needed a place where he could begin gathering much needed information so he could have some idea as to how to proceed forward.
XXXXX
Back within the port of the destroyed junius seven colony a pilot of the voluntary militia group known as ZAFT wearing a red pilot suit had emerged from where they had previously been hiding once that mysterious mobile suit with that double barrel rifle and green jewel in the center of its chest had vacated the area.
Why whoever piloted that machine had decided to vacate the area without pursuing was unknown to the Zaft member but they were not intending to complain or look a gift horse in the mouth. If that mobile suit wasn't going to finish the job then they'd make sure to report what happened here to their supervisor.
Still the ZAFT pilot just couldn't wrap their head around why this had happened, was this the result of the warp experiment, they wouldn't doubt it since that mobile suit didn't appear until the latest test was being conducted.
Even though there were four mobile suits on standby including his own CGUE it was completely ineffective against the prowess of that white and blue mobile suit, on fact the Zaft pilot didn't even know if a full five minutes had even passed before their entire squadron was shot down and they war forced to retreat inside remains of the colony after ejecting from their own machine to seek any refuge they could.
Now that they had returned to the port seeing the state their CGUE had been reduced to nearly made them cringe as memories of what had just transpired had occurred came flooding back.
Shaking it off the ZAFT soldier quickly entered the cockpit of once more, while the mobile suit may have not have been in any condition for fighting or mobility its cockpit still had power meaning the ZAFT pilot would be able to contact their ship and report what had transpired here.
Hopefully a plan could be formed in order to handle this crises, otherwise there was no telling what type of damage that mobile suit could cause.
Switching to the proper channel the pilot spoke. "This is Jacob to the Valarient, come in."
"This is the Valarient we read you. What happened? ? We lost signals on all of your squad. Did something go wrong?"
"Yeah, the warp experiment brought something through this time, all the other pilots are KIA."
silence lingered over the radio for a few long moments before a reply came. "What's your current location? We'll come retrieve you."
"I'm in one of the ports of Junius 7's ruins."
"Roger, we'll send one of the reserve pilots to rescue you, the captain will want a report as soon as you're back onboard the Valarient."
And that's it for this first chapter sorry if it felt really rushed that wasn't my intent its just each scene only took around 2k word or less by the time they were done and I couldn't figure out how to extend the scenes any longer than they we're
Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter regardless I decided to change the events leading Heero to the Cosmic Era so it wouldn't just be the same repetitive scene like with the previous versions.
