"HINATA!" Tenten called out. Her eyes were blurring with tears. Relief washed over her. 'I'm going to survive.' She thought to herself. Tenten pushed herself even harder and started sprinting towards her friends.
"Sasuke, by the looks of it there must be more than 20 undead behind her. The doors won't hold," Shikamaru stated.
"Tch, you don't think I don't know that? But we don't have much of choice now do we?" Sasuke said annoyed.
"I have an idea, but it's really risky. The classrooms to the right and left of us are empty and the doors aren't broken. We can try to divide them. It'll be easier to try to eliminate them if that's what we choose to do." Gaara suggested.
"We can try out your idea Gaara. We'll split into teams of two. The first team will be stationed in our homebase, the second team will take the classroom on the right and the last team will take the classroom on the left," Shikamaru quickly informed them.
"I'll be part of the team helping with rounding up the dead into one of the classrooms," Hinata spoke with beaming determination in her eyes.
"Sasuke, team up with Hinata and take the classroom to the right and wait for my signal. Head there now and here," Shikamaru instructed while throwing a two-way radio to Sasuke.
Sasuke caught the radio and pulled Hinata with him to their assigned classroom.
"Good luck everyone and stay safe!" Hinata said to the rest of her teammates.
Shikamaru waved them off. He turned to the other two men and said "Gaara & Naruto you'll take the classroom on the left. You two will lead the group of undead first into the classroom then Sasuke & Hinata will get the attention of the back half of the undead, leading them into their classroom. What I need you to do is lure as many of them you can then exit through the second door of your classroom and wait on the staircase leading to the 4th floor. Keep an eye out because you guys will still need to close the other door. If all goes well, none of you will have to fight any of the undead, but if it doesn't go well, prepare yourselves. Sai and I will be at homebase protecting the others just in case things go sideways." Shikamaru could see the fear and hesitation on Naruto and Gaara's faces. "You guys got this. I trust you guys can accomplish and come back safe."
"Got it, Captain. Come on Gaara we have work to do," Naruto said and pulled Gaara to their assigned classroom.
"Shikamaru, if anything happens to me, watch over her," Gaara instructed. The look on Gaara's eyes were now replaced with worry instead of fear. 'Hinata.. Stay safe.' Gaara thought to himself.
"What a drag. Make sure you come back so I don't have to," Shikamaru replied with a smirk on his face.
"I mean it, Shikamaru. Make sure she stays safe just in case things do go side ways," Gaara replied.
Shikamaru waved them off and said "Yeah, yeah I'll protect our little Hinata-hime."
Tenten finally reached Shikamaru, and he quickly pulled her into the classroom. "Wait! Wait! What about the others? They're not here!" Tenten yelled.
"Tenten, they have jobs to do. Don't worry about them. We gotta stay quiet." Shikamaru informed her. "Hey, Ino. Can you check on Tenten?"
Shikamaru walked over to Ino and quickly whispered, "Check her for bites and scratches. Try not to be obvious please. We'll be right here."
Ino eyes widened for a second, but quickly composed herself to try and conceal her reaction. "Ye-yeah, I can do that," she replied and walked over to Tenten. "Tenten, I'm glad you're okay. Let's go over to the corner where Sakura is, and we can get you cleaned up."
Tenten just nodded. She was completely unaware of what transpired with Shikamaru and Ino due to the exhaustion sinking in. Ino quickly grabbed the first aide bag that was on the supply table. 'Kami-sama, please keep us safe. Please keep that knucklehead, Naruto safe.' Ino prayed.
Sasuke and Hinata's position
Shikamaru informed us of the plan through the radio. It was now a waiting game as we watched the group of undead pass by our classroom behind a table we flipped to its side. "Uchiha-san," Hinata whispered.
"What is it, Hyuga?" he whispered back.
"I just wanted you to know.. I-I won't be a burden to you," Hinata whispered.
Sasuke sighs and just nods to let her know he heard her.
*Buzz, Buzz, Buzz*
"There's the signal, Hyuga. Let's go," Sasuke said out loud.
We ran towards the door and Sasuke pushed it open.
"HEY! YOU UNDEAD ASSSHOLES!" Hinata yelled trying to get the attention of the undead in front of them.
Sasuke started slamming his club on the door frame to also get their attention.
The undead that were still in the hallway turned to us and started heading our way. The stench of blood was unbearable. The moaning and growling were getting louder and louder as they made their way into their classroom.
"C'MON YOU ASSHOLES. KEEP IT COMING!" Hinata continued to yell as Sasuke started to push tables and chairs toward the group of undead to ensure we had enough distance from them.
The classroom was filling up fast. Hinata had recognized some of the faces of the zombified students. She remembers passing by them in the hallways of her old high school and middle school. So many young adults with so much potential were reduced into nothing but hungry, mindless creatures.
*SLAM*
Suddenly the door where the undead were entering was slammed shut.
*Bzzz, Bzzz*
"Hinata, Sasuke. Mission accomplished. Get out of there," Shikamaru instructed through the radio.
"Come on, Hyuga," Sasuke said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her to the door.
Sasuke tried opening it, but it wasn't opening. He twisted the door knob and pushed hard, but it still wouldn't budge.
"Uchiha-san, what's wrong?" Hinata said with a confused look on her face.
The undead were getting closer. Sasuke pushed Hinata behind him and held up his club. Hinata's eyes widened.
"The door's jammed. Try opening the windows. I'll hold them back," Sasuke said.
"On it!" Hinata replied back.
Hinata went to the nearest window, but it seemed to be jammed, too. She tried the one right next to it, but no luck.
"Uchiha-san! No luck, they're also jammed. I'm going to try smashing them open!" Hinata said.
"Fuck, I think the windows are reinforced. They're not bulletproof, but it's going to take a lot to smash them open. Here!" Sasuke said while throwing the radio to Hinata.
"Shika! The door and windows are jammed. There's no way out," Hinata said into the radio.
"What? Jammed? Choji, Gaara, Naurto! Come with me. Hinata and Sasuke are in trouble." Shikamaru said through the radio.
Hinata looked at the group of undead getting closer and closer to where her and Sasuke were. She grabbed a chair and started hitting the window, but it just kept bouncing back. She continued to keep swinging until she saw Gaara through the window.
"Hinata!" Gaara exclaimed. He looked through the window and saw the undead inching and inching towards them. His eyes widen in horror. 'No. I can't lose her. There's still so much I have to tell her," he thought to himself.
Hinata's POV
Shikamaru jogged over to Gaara and gave me a worried look. "Choji, Gaara get to work with opening this damn window. Naruto and I will be on watch for stragglers." Instructed Shikamaru.
Choji and Gaara held their clubs tightly and started slamming them against the window, but to their horror the same thing happened them. Their clubs were just bouncing off the window. I looked over to Sasuke and he managed to arrange the tables near us into a little barrier.
"Uchiha-san! Gaara and Choji are here to help!" I quickly shouted out to him.
"Tell those idiots to hurry up! I don't know how much longer these tables were keep the undead at bay," Sasuke shouted back.
"Hinata, we got this. Go ahead and help Sasuke," said Gaara with a reassuring look on his face. "Choji and I will figure something out."
I nodded and jogged towards Sasuke. Sweat was dripping onto the table he was holding to keep the undead from getting closer. His club was on the ground, and I grabbed it. "Uchiha-san, I'm here to help," I informed him while holding his club.
"No. Get back Hyuga. I got this. Keep working on the window," Sasuke said. He sent a glare at me.
I was about to protest, but one of the undead slipped pass the table barrier by crawling under the table. It was crawling towards Sasuke. He was about to kick it away from him, but I quickly went over to it and smashed its head with Sasuke's club. Blood splattered everywhere hitting both Sasuke and me.
"I told you I won't be a burden to you," I said while wiping the blood off my face.
Sasuke sighs and says, "Fine, Hyuga."
Three more undead got through the table barrier and I continued protecting Sasuke.
I took care of two of them with no problem, but the third one got too close and tried to grab me. I tried swinging the club at it, but the walker managed to grab the club and I struggled to keep it at a safe distance. I tried pushing the walker off, but it ended up slamming me into the wall.
"Hinata!" Gaara and Sasuke yelled in unison.
