Rukia Kuchiki and Byakuya were both attending a CPR training class offered by the American Heart Association. Rukia was there as part of her job as a nurse, while Byakuya was attending as a volunteer firefighter.

During one of the practical exercises, Rukia was partnered with Byakuya. They were tasked with practicing the chest compressions on a mannequin while the instructor observed.

As they began working together, Rukia couldn't help but be struck by how confident and capable Byakuya was. He seemed to know exactly what to do and moved with a graceful efficiency that she found captivating.

As they worked, the instructor approached them and suggested they switch roles so that Byakuya could practice the chest compressions while Rukia practiced the rescue breaths.

Byakuya hesitated for a moment, unsure if he was comfortable performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on a stranger. But Rukia reassured him, telling him that it was just a mannequin and that they were both there to learn.

With that encouragement, Byakuya took a deep breath and leaned in to give the mannequin a breath. As he did, Rukia couldn't help but notice the way his eyes crinkled at the corners and the warmth of his breath against her skin.

From that moment on, Rukia found herself increasingly drawn to Byakuya. She admired his dedication to helping others and his calm, steady presence. They started practicing together whenever they could, working on their CPR skills and chatting about their lives in between exercises.

One day, as they were finishing up a practice session, Byakuya suddenly collapsed. Rukia immediately sprang into action, checking for breathing and a pulse before starting chest compressions.

As she worked, she could feel the weight of Byakuya's life in her hands. She was terrified of doing something wrong, of not being able to bring him back.

But she remembered the lessons she had learned in the CPR class - the importance of staying calm, of trusting in her training. And so she kept going, pumping his chest and giving rescue breaths until finally, miraculously, she felt a faint heartbeat beneath her fingers.

As Byakuya was rushed to the hospital, Rukia realized that she was in love with him. She had never felt such a strong connection with anyone before, and the thought of losing him was unbearable.

Over the next few days, as Byakuya slowly recovered, Rukia stayed by his side, tending to him and sharing her feelings with him. And to her delight, Byakuya felt the same way.

They started dating soon after, their bond strengthened by their shared experience and their commitment to helping others. And whenever they practiced their CPR skills together, they knew that they were not just learning a technique - they were practicing the art of saving lives, and of loving each other.
