69 days since arrival…
We needed rest. After what happened yesterday, we were all in the verge of collapse. We weren't ready for that kind of foe. How do we expect that they are actual bloodthirsty demons, and not the same lust-driven harlots that we have fought for millennia? How do we block or parry a direct attack to our psyche? We have our taste of direct psychic attack before, but all it did was to drive us closer to submission with lusts. Such attack is easy to deal with and they fade away like morning dew a few minutes after.
But the visions that we saw was horrific. Even experienced I am, the nightmares still unsettled me. Not because of their awful imagery mind you. It was the implication behind such visions. Multiple universes exist, I am living in one such example. If I can be transported between dimensions, then giving me a vision of said other dimensions isn't too far-fetched.
The idea that there's more than one universe where me and my loved ones met a terrible fate is existentially dreadful.
Perhaps my thoughts was shared with my colleague. Perhaps they were not. But one thing is clear, we all needed some way to deal with it. Our mind is in duress, so we need to unwind and relax for a while. Even the Captain retires to his quarters to recover.
Natsuki and Oskar today went to the church to find solace in faith. Kael on the other hand, is gripped in with a manic obsession. Instead of relying on booze or faith, he went straight to the university and plunge himself into his studies. I was dragged along the ride, partly because I was also an entity closer to such beings that we fought before. After all, I'm also not of this world.
He tore through those worn volumes like a man possessed, plumbing ever deeper into history to find more about the foe we face. The iconography on the robe we took from the dead sorceress proves that whatever we fought before was very old, and malevolent.
I was far more concerned about the visions I saw with Sophie. She did say that the castle felt familiar to her, but she cannot give any conclusive answer for our speculation. The horrific visions of mine can be explained as mere hallucination, but the one where I fought in some kind of angelic siege is far too vivid to be a common delusion.
So for today, we have done nothing but studying. History and magic were our focus, but we didn't make much progress in the end. Most of the history was either edited or censored by the church for seditions or blasphemy.
Oh well, I just hope that the Captain has his own library up there I can peruse. The ship is two days away from being fully ready, so I'll just spend the rest of my time here studying as much as I can.
