Chapter one
Prompt: While Andy is out on the call with Jack (a different one, not the bowling alley like the show) Warren confronts Sullivan and when they get back from the call Andy goes to talk to her husband to tell him that she accidentally told Jack that they were married when she overheard Warren and him arguing over his drug addiction. - was staying out of the way but she was coming closer to the office when he accused him that Pruitt's death was his fault.
Warren, still pissed at Robert "Okay. This is what we're gonna do. You are gonna go to the chief right now, and you're gonna tell him the truth. All of it."
"Tell him what exactly?" Sullivan asked, not backing down from Warren.
"Tell him that you are unfit for this job. Tell him that it's you're fault Pruitt Herrera died up on that roof-"
Andy stormed into the office to stop Ben from saying anything else and by now everyone else was also back from the call and were also coming upstairs.
"That's enough! I won't let you talk to my husband that way!" Andy shouted, coming into the room.
Robert was shocked and tried to get his wife to stop and tell her that he could deal with Ben when she kept going.
"Don't act like you're a fucking saint Ben Warren. It may be hard to see us, little people, up on that high horse of yours but you need to back the fuck off."
"What are you talking about?" Warren asked
"I'm talking about how you knew what happened to the drugs for months," Andy said.
Ben tries to interrupt "I-"
"I don't want to fucking hear it," Andy spat out
"Honestly hun, I can deal with this." Robert tried
Andy walks closer to Robert and puts a hand on his chest "I know but someone needs to say this and I know it won't be you." Robert just nods, seeing the look in his wife's eyes, knowing he couldn't stop her right now
"Ben Warren, you got your PRT approved. You gave up fighting fires for doing surgery instead. Doing surgery out in the field and ya, it's great. It's saved a couple of lives so far, but you have been so focused on that that I'm pretty sure you don't even know what's going on in anyone's life anymore. Do you?"
Warren, with a little bit of bite to his words "I've been here more than you have lately."
Robert saw a flash of hurt cross his Wife's face quickly and stepped in. "That's enough!" Robert pulls Andy into him "Ben, I won't stand here and take this from you. Yes, I've made a huge mistake. Yes, I haven't been honest with many people, but you do not get to accuse me of ever being high on the job when I had good reason to go into that storage unit fire.." Robert quickly kisses his wife on the top of her head and looks at Ben "I had to save my wife. I had to try to help others out. And I did that while sober. I haven't taken anything since I had to deal with that veteran at that shop. I was finally honest with Andy then and she's helped in more ways than you know." Robert stops and Andy starts talking again
"He's been so much better lately." Andy looks up at her husband. Gently stroking his cheek and then turning back to Ben "Did you even bother to offer to help him? Or have you been more focused on putting him down?" Andy speaks to Ben with more hate in her voice than anyone at the station had ever heard.
"I- I just thought he was putting the station in danger. I just want to make sure he isn't putting us in any danger." Warren said
"Oh. So you're just trying to be righteous here. Make sure everyone plays by your rules. I hate to break it to you. You. Are. Not. In. Charge. Here." Andy spat out.
"Well, it's not like Robert's been doing a stand-up job," Warren said, wishing he could take it back right after he said it.
"Not doing a stand-up job?" Andy scoffs "He went into that storage fire to save me. To save the one person who cares about him at this station. He couldn't bare to lose another wife. I had 5% left on my SCBA. I was screwed. I couldn't get my breathing under control and when he found me I was finally able to calm down. Because the man I love, the man I plan on spending the rest of my life with, was with me." Andy turns to Robert "Til death do us part'' Andy whispered to him. Andy turns back to Ben "I need you to go. Because I know Emmett knew. I know you told him weeks ago that you were planning on turning Robert in but you ended up not doing it so your precious PRT wouldn't get shut down." Andy steps closer to Ben "You cannot blame my husband for the loss of MY father. Not after everything Robert's done for me." Andy takes a breath and moves to the door "Now get out Warren. And don't you dare come at my husband like that again or I'll be the one to go to Dixon and tell him that you said 3 bottles were broken instead of stolen on one of your inventory reports so I'd just shut up about it and let me and Robert be. His future at SFD is already at stake with this 50/50 odds surgery. He has enough going on without you making things worse. Now why don't you go look at the result of the urine test you made him do." Andy watches as Warren undoes the label and watches as he looks.
"It's clean," Warren told Andy after he looked at the result.
Andy just nods "Get out, Warren." Andy watches as he leaves and sees that the rest of the team was standing there with shocked expressions on their faces. She looked back at Robert Oh shit, She thought.
