We have the men packed up on Eriadu, and ready to go to Teth in a matter of minutes. It's kind of funny though, to see how scared buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya make the shinies. Amu (amu - mom) calls the LAATs down, and we all get on. It's my first time flying on one of these, and it's awesome! It's not the fastest ship I've ever been in, but it's still really cool.
We get up to the ship, and all the men go off to do their jobs. I take a few hesitant steps, following amu (amu - mom), but then I feel two hands on my shoulders. The only men who would do that, and have hands that are as firm as the ones on my shoulders, are buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya. So I turn around.
"Where do you think you're going, ad'ika?" (ad'ika - little one)
"I don't know. I've never been on a ship this big before."
Ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya and buir (buir - dad) get their nearly identical smirks. There's a reason why that CC batch is called the Trouble Batch. And why ba'buir (ba'buir - grandfather) 17 has so much grey in his hair. Even though buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Cody claim that they were always trying to keep the others out of trouble... ba'buir (ba'buir - grandfather)has told me otherwise.
"You survived your first battle," ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) says, "That means you get to paint your beskar'gam." (beskar'gam - armor)
I grin. "Really?"
Buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya both nod. Then we go to buir's (buir - dad) assigned quarters, that I'm pretty sure he doesn't use, except for storage, which where they keep the paint. I grab one of the large shirts that's lying around, and after I take what armor I wear off, I slip on the shirt over my robes.
Buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya set out paintbrushes, and magenta and black paint. The colors of the 345th, amu (amu - mom) and buir's (buir - dad) colors. All three of us sit down, and I take my right shoulder pauldron and two paintbrushes. For a moment, I just watch buir touch up the paint on his own armor. Buir (buir - dad) uses black, and starts to go over the fading paint of a small handprint.
He let me help with painting his armor a few years ago, when he got a new phase of it. I was around six or seven at the time, and I coated my hand with black paint, then pressed it to his cuirass, right over where his heart would be when he wears it. He still repaints the handprint every time he repaints his armor.
I frown, then look back down at my pauldron. Then I get an idea. First I take a paintbrush and dip it in the black paint. Then I paint the whole thing black. After I've painted that on thick enough, I make two thin magenta lines, each one just off center. I repeat it with my other pauldron, but when I'm finished with that one and go to grab one of my wrist gauntlets, I find that they're no longer where I left them.
I look up, and see buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya painting my wrist gauntlets. I forgot about the tradition of family member painting a piece of the newest's armor. I wait for them to finish, and for my pauldrons to dry. Buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya show me the designs they did on my gauntlets. Both of them are very pretty.
Ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya put a completely black background, with a magenta swirling pattern in the center. While buir (buir - dad) put a swirling symbol of black and magenta. The black and magenta swirl and wrap around each other. Both are amazing, and I love it.
When I take them, the inside is facing me. On the inside of my right gauntlet, the one ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya painted, is the message Mishuk gotal'u meshuroke, pako kyore! (mishuk gotal'u meshuroke, pako kyore - pressure makes gems, ease makes decay). Of course ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya would put this one. It's the same message buir (buir - dad) put on his backplate.
I look at buir's (buir - dad) next. His has the message Verd ori'shya beskar'gam, ner Jetii dalyc'ad. (verd ori'shya beskargam, ner Jetii dalyc'ad - a warrior is more that her armor, my Jedi daughter)
I stand up, and hug both buir (buir - dad) and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle).
"Thank you. I love them."
"You're welcome, ad'ika (ad'ika - little one). Now, let's go find Ileema before she sends out a search party for us."
"Okay, ba'vodu." (ba'vodu - uncle)
I grab my armor, and put it on, it's dry now, and we leave to go to the bridge to find amu (amu - mom). Thankfully, the officers who aren't clones have left on a shuttle, amu insisted on a completely clone operated ship, so I'm free to act as though the clones are what they are to me. My aliit (aliit - family). Amu (amu - mom) is waiting up on the bridge, and buir (buir - dad) goes to stand next to her. I stay next to ba'vodu Kya (ba'vodu - uncle), letting amu (amu - mom) and buir (buir - dad) have their time together.
"I meant to tell you, ad'ika (ad'ika - little one), but you did pretty well for your first battle."
"Vor'e." (vor'e - thanks)
Amu (amu - mom) turns around and she and buir (buir - dad) come over to me.
"I heard that Logan and Kya painted some of your armor. Well, let me see."
"Elek, amu." (elek - yes, amu - mom)
I show amu (amu - mom) the new paint on my armor, then she takes me over to where two clones that I don't think I've met are monitoring the controls of the ship. There's a big window, giving us a view of the outside of the rest of the ship, and hyperspace. Just like it was on the way to Eriadu with Flip and the others, hyperspace is beautiful.
"Cal, how long until we get to Teth?"
"Another hour or so, alor." (alor - leader)
"Good, now! Cal, Emec, I would like the two of you to meet my new padawan, and my daughter. Leeda Skywalker."
The two of them look to me, the one addressed as Cal is bald with a black tattooed band around his head. The one addressed as Emec has lightened his hair to a light brown. Like the leaves on some of the trees in the Temple Garden during the autumn temperature cycle, mostly the ones from warmer planets than Coruscant.
"Su'cuy!" (su'cuy - hi)
"Well, nice to meet you, al'verde'ika." (al'verde'ika - little commander)
I roll my eyes. I am not little, at least not anymore. When I was around three it took a while for me to get up to the weight that a three year old girl of my height should be. And I was stick thin until about a year ago when I gained a bunch of weight and actually developed the way I should have.
Master Che says that since I didn't get enough nutrients as a toddler, combined with how strong of a Force presence I have, which can be draining, I didn't hit an actual growth spurt the way that I'm supposed to at my age until last year. Luke is still skinny and lanky, but Master Che thinks he'll fill out too once he hits his puberty growth spurts, just like I did.
For an hour or so, ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya and I stay on the bridge. Amu (amu - mom) and buir (buir - dad) both left to go do whatever it is that they do in their spare time, so ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya is stuck with me. Making sure I don't do anything that his batch would do. Which I find somewhat hypocritical, since they did something like it, and I can't... But, it's amu (amu - mom) and buir's (buir - dad) ship, and both of them always say no chaos when I'm around the boys of the 345th. As a Jedi, I'm supposed to set a good example for the new shinies. But it's me, I do pretty much the opposite.
Soon, ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya and I leave for the hangar and meet up with amu (amu - mom), buir (buir - dad), and several other of my ba'vodu'e (ba'vodu'e - uncles)... or cousins... or vode (vode - brothers)? I don't know, it's confusing because I have around 1,000,000 relatives who all look pretty much the same. If it weren't for their different speech patterns, the ways they walked, their personalities, and their Force signatures, I would never be able to tell anyone apart. I can't really tell shinies apart because they all act kind of the same. And that is one of the reasons that I... strongly dislike the Kaminiise (Kaminoans).
When we meet up near the LAAT that the four of us will be riding in down to Teth. Uncle Anakin comms us from his ship while we wait to take off from the cruiser.
"The scouts that were sent told me that they weren't seen as far as they know, and that the bounty hunters Jabba sent... well, I'll just say that they won't need to worry about his anger."
"They're already dead," amu (amu - mom) says, her arms folded across her chest. She stands like that when she's either thinking, or she's worried about something.
"Yeah, I was told that the only thing Jabba will get back is their heads.
"Anakin! None of us here needed that description, and I doubt anyone near you needed it either."
"Sorry. Oh, and it's a monastery surrounded by droids, at least two battalions. And it's heavily fortified."
Amu (amu - mom) nods, and the clones who are going along with amu (amu - mom), buir (buir - dad), ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya, and I all board the LAAT. I'm glad I'm tall, the grips aren't exactly low hanging. But then again, all of the clones are at least around six foot. When we take off, Flip, who's our pilot, says,
"All right, ladies and clones, prepare for take off. And Leeda, no jumping out unless the alor (alor - leader) tells you too."
I roll my eyes, I might have gained a reputation among the clones for being a bit of a daredevil. As in, I might have, um, well, I jumped off of the top balcony of the Jedi Temple when I was nine. Buir (buir - dad) and amu (amu - mom) weren't too happy about it either when they found out. I was grounded for a month after I did that, but I still did it again. I did have a parachute the second time I did it.
In the atmosphere of Teth, a comm call comes through. It's uncle Anakin, and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Obi-Wan.
"All right, Anakin, Ileema, here's the story. Jabba has given us only one planetary rotation to get his son back home to Tatooine safe and sound."
"Won't take us that long, Master."
"It might, knowing you two."
"Well, both of you take extreme care. We have no idea who's holding Jabba's son. When I've finished negotiations with him, I will join you. And Ileema, the plans not going to plan is all Anakin."
"I'm aware."
Uncle Anakin and ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Obi-Wan hang up, and amu (amu - mom), buir (buir - dad), ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya, I, and all of the others prepare to get off the LAAT. As we continue to get closer, my heart starts beating faster. Amu turns to me.
"If you can, stay close to me, Logan, Kya, or Anakin. And if you can't, stick with Ahsoka."
I nod, just as the ship is rocked by cannon fire.
"Close those blast doors, Flip!" amu shouts.
The blast doors of the LAAT close, and Flip keeps on flying. We get ready to jump, and buir does last minute checks. When he's finished, he says,
"All right, boys. Let's make those beskar'ade (beskar'ade - droids) scrap metal."
"Sir, yes, sir!"
"Here we go..."
Flip says, "All right, red light. Stand by."
The clones get their blasters ready.
When Flip lands the LAAT, and the green light signal comes, we all run off the ship and into the fog. I ignite my lightsaber and start blocking blaster shots from up above. The tanks and troopers move forward, I hear uncle Anakin say,
"Follow me!"
Amu (amu - mom), Ahsoka, uncle Anakin, and I all stand together at the base of the cliff, and a battle droid falls from the top of the cliff, to use behind us, it's a little funny actually. This'll be fun. So I voice my thoughts, apparently at the same time as Ahsoka.
"So, this is where the fun begins," we say together.
"Race you two to the top," Uncle Anakin says.
I look over at Ahsoka, who smirks and says, "We'll give you a head start."
"Your mistake."
"Ascension cables!" ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Kya barks.
The cables shoot upward, and uncle Anakin starts climbing.
"We're right behind you, master!"
Ahsoka and I back up and run to give us both a little bit more power in our jumps. Then we start climbing the cliff face. Each of us have our lightsabers out, and while we climb, we block the droids' shots as best we can. Keeping ourselves and some of our men from being hit. I gotta say, this is way more fun than I thought a rescue mission for a Huttlet would be.
I look to my left as Ahsoka looks to her right. On either side there are walkers climbing the wall. A free ride, and they get a higher chance of survival. Sounds pretty good to me. We both swing our cables around to land on our respective walkers. I climb up the top of mine quickly, and stand on the front panel of the cockpit. While we move up, I block the blaster bolts from hitting the walker, and you know, me. All the while continuing to climb higher.
Then shots start coming from the side. Drat, droidekas. A shot from one of them, makes Ahsoka's walker detach from the wall in the front. They're all okay though, because uncle Anakin jumps onto the bikes and slashes the droids with his lightsaber. He jumps on the last one and zooms past us, up the cliff face.
"Gotta keep up!"
"Hey! No fair!" both Ahsoka and I yell.
Ahsoka leans down to speak to the driver of her walker. I can't hear what she says, but I can guess. She told him to get their walker moving. Both of ours start moving, and we continue making our way up to the top. Seeing sparks from uncle Anakin destroying the droids. As we get up to the top, uncle Anakin says,
"Blast it, Ahsoka, I told you to stay close to me."
My walker fires a blue bolt, taking out the droidekas.
"Leeda and I can't get much closer, Skyguy."
"I knew you two would get here, Snips, Lee, eventually."
"Always in time to save your life," I quip back, just as amu (amu - mom) springs up to the top.
She shakes her head at our competition, just as the rest of the clones get to the top. Ba'vodu'e (ba'vodu'e - uncles) Kya and Rex come over to us, along with buir (buir - dad).
"All clear, generals," ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Rex says.
"Nice work, Rex. Have some men look after the wounded."
"Roger that, sir. Gunships are holding at a safe distance."
"To many droids here for them to be renegades," amu (amu - mom) says, "I sense Count Dooku's hand in this."
"Let's find Jabba's son and get outta here," uncle Anakin says.
"No problem," Ahsoka says, "The hard part's over."
I groan, and mutter, "Gedet'ye, nayc jorhaa'ir meg." (gedet'ye, nayc horhaa'ir meg - please, don't say that)
"I wish you wouldn't say that," uncle Anakin groans.
We walk up to the entrance, and the door opens easily. This definitely feels like a trap. K'oyacyi. (K'oyacyi - cheers)
"I don't like this place. It gives me the creeps," ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Rex says.
"This looks like one of the B'omarr monk monasteries that I read about in my studies at the Temple," Ahsoka says.
How she remembers that, I really have no clue. Most of the studies I remember have something to do with piloting, lightsaber combat, usage of the Force, and stuff like that. History isn't really my strong suit, I can name off most of the known planets though.
"Smugglers take this monasteries over, turn them into their own personal retreats."
"And the monks just let them?"
I blow my breath, and say, "Smugglers usually get what they want, one way or another."
Ahsoka nods to me.
There's a clattering sound, and both amu (amu - mom) and uncle Anakin ignite their lightsabers. The men shine their helmet lights in the direction of the noise. Revealing a silver protocol droid.
"Uh," Ahsoka starts, "Good guy or bad guy, Master?"
"Who are you?"
The droid walks closer to us. "Merely the humble caretaker, O mighty sir. You have liberated me from those dreadful battle bots. I am most thankful."
"Where is the Hutt?" amu asks, as she and uncle Anakin deactivate their lightsabers.
"The battle bots kept their prisoners on the detention level. I must warn you it is very dangerous down there, my friend. Not a place for servant girls."
Ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Rex grabs my arm, making sure I don't do anything stupid, but no one grabs Ahsoka.
"Do servant girls carry these?" Ahsoka asks, igniting her lightsaber. "I am a Jedi Knight..." she deactivates her lightsaber, "or soon will be."
"A thousand apologies, young ones."
"Commander, Captain, we'll get the Hutt. Stay here and keep your eyes open," uncle Anakin says, while Ahsoka walk past the droid.
Ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Rex lets go of my arm, and says, "Copy that, sir."
Amu (amu - mom), uncle Anakin, and I follow after Ahsoka to go find the Hutt.
When we get to the dungeons, I start to get an uneasy feeling. "Master, you know you two are walking us into a trap?"
"I know."
"We just passed two more droids," Ahsoka points out.
"We know," uncle Anakin says.
"Well, I don't like this. Can Leeda and I just take care of them?"
"Oh, well, if you feel so strongly about it, go ahead," amu says.
Ahsoka and I slow down for a minute. Then both of us spin around, and ignite our lightsabers. We both slice off the tips of a few of the beskar'ade's (beskar'ade - droids) blasters. Rendering them useless. Those that do shoot at us, we both deflect the blaster bolts back into them. And I get to cut off one of their heads. It might be unJedi like, but I like slicing the beskar'ade (beskar'ade - droids). I think that's a side affect of practically being raised by the clone of a Mandalorian, who was a favorite of said Mandalorian.
"Not bad, you two. You remembered to destroy their weapons first."
"We're improving your technique, uncle."
Uncle Anakin activates his lightsaber and stabs behind him. A beskar'ad's (beskar'ad - droid) weird sounding scream answers him.
"Of course, one of you did miss one."
"I did that on purpose," Ahsoka says.
Amu (amu - mom) smiles at both of us, and shakes her head, before walking over to where uncle Anakin is standing in front of a cell door.
"I sense our kidnapped Hutt is in here," uncle Anakin says.
"I smell him too," Ahsoka complains. I give her a sympathetic smile.
Uncle Anakin and amu open the door to the cell using the Force. When I see the Hutt, I am immediately confused. I didn't think he'd be that little. I was expecting a Hutt, I don't, about maybe twice that size.
"He's a lot younger than I thought he'd be," uncle Anakin comments.
"Oh, he's just a baby. This will make our job a lot easier. Oh, he's so cute," Ahsoka says. I really don't get it. He looks like a miniature version of a giant, overgrown slug.
"Just wait till you see what he'll grow into," I comment.
I don't remember much about my three years on Tatooine, but I do remember grandmother's stories about the Hutts. And I saw Jabba when I may or may not have convinced her to take Luke and I to a pod race.
While Ahsoka is both fussing over the baby Hutt, and playing with him, buir (buir - dad) comms amu (amu - mom). "General Kenobi, the castle is secure, and it's nearly midday."
"Thanks, Logan. We've got Jabba's son. Any sign of the other General Kenobi yet?"
"No, ma'am."
Buir (buir - dad) ends the comm, and Ahsoka says, "Master, my Jedi training didn't prepare me for this. What are we gonna do?"
"Well," uncle Anakin starts, "since you think that smelly larva is cute, you're going to carry it."
We leave the cell, and get to walking. Ahsoka carrying the Hutt, since she's the only one who thinks that it's cute. We get to the main hallway, where there are clones standing guard, and uncle Anakin comments,
"How do you like your little buddy now? Still cute?"
"You know, he's reminding me of you more and more." Ahsoka holds the Hutt up to uncle Anakin, "See? You're two of a kind."
"Maybe you should carry both of us then."
I huff a little, but keep walking. I have a bad feeling about this. The little Hutt starts crying, and then it sounds like he's coughing. He sounds sick.
"Masters, I think this little guy is sick. He's burning up with a fever."
Amu (amu - mom) walks over to them, and lays her hand on the Hutt's forehead. "You're right, Ahsoka. We've got to get him back to the ship immediately."
Uncle Anakin turns to the troopers and yells, "Trooper! Get me a backpack!"
The little Hutt starts screaming while we all try to get him into the backpack, though at this point it could be considered a birikad (birikad - baby carrying harness). It's not fun to listen to. As uncle Anakin and Ahsoka start fighting about how to put him in there, amu (amu - mom) and I step back. Better to let them fight it out than to get in the middle of the firefight when it wouldn't do any good.
"Will you just let me do it?" Ahsoka asks.
"I hate Hutts," uncle Anakin remarks.
When they finally get him into the birikad, we head outside. We stand near a fighter while ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Obi-Wan comms us. "Ileema, Anakin, did you locate Jabba's son?"
"We have him," amu (amu - mom) says, "but it looks like the Separatists are are behind his abduction."
"This smells like Count Dooku to me," uncle Anakin says.
"I think it's little Stinky you smell," Ahsoka quips.
"I'll bet Dooku is using us to get Jabba to join the Separatists."
"Master Kenobi," Ahsoka says, "we have another problem. This Huttlet is very sick."
"I'm not sure we can get him back to Tatooine alive, Master. This whole rescue may backfire on us. I still don't think dealing with the Hutts is a good idea."
Amu (amu - mom) speaks up, "Anakin, you know they control shipping routes in the Outer Rim. Jabba's cooperation is crucial to the war effort."
"Yes, if you let anything happen to his son... our chances of a treaty with him will disappear."
Ba'vodu (ba'vodu - uncle) Obi-Wan, amu (amu - mom), and uncle Anakin are still talking when I notice something. There are large ships coming in, and they aren't Republic. They're Seperatists. K'oyacyi. (k'oyacyi - cheers)
"Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." -Winston Churchill
