Chapter Three

Vic and Travis were talking about how Dixon and Sullivan could possibly be corrupt, a thought prompted by Sullivan coming by a warehouse where he sent Hughes and Montgomery to do a fire inspection but told them that it was already checked, Vic fought him, saying that she could see a bunch of different fire hazards but he grabbed the folders from Hughhes and just walked away to his car and back home. Vic later got up and left the bar after some thought and drove to Sullivans.

Vic went up to his door and knocked.

"Hughes. What are you doing…" Robert said, surprised and closed the door a little, hoping that Andy wouldn't overhear them talking.

"Uh, you can't just sign those inspections," Hughes said, shaking her head.

"Oh, this is none of your business," Robert told Hughes

"You can't- No, Chief, due respect, if you sign those inspections, you could be actually putting-" Hughes started ranting

"You are out of your lane," Robert said.

"Maybe, but I have also seen what happens when people ignore fire codes." Hughes looks at Robert while he looks away from her for a second. "You know, we don't ever think the worst is gonna happen until it does. What- we watch the- the stupid video on the plane telling us how to put on our oxygen masks, half paying attention because we don't think there's ever, you know, anyway we could be the person who dies in a plane crash but 257 people died in plane crashes last year.-"

"Vic!" Andy shouted, opening the front door fully. "That's enough."

"Andy, I don't think you understand-" Vic tried to explain but Andy stopped her.

"No, Vic. you don't. Robert's parents died in a plane crash." Andy saw Vic's face drop.

Vic looks from Andy to Robert and stutters "I- I didn't- I didn't know. I'm sorry, Chief."

"Kind of late for an apology there, Hughes," Andy said, glaring at her. While her husband goes back into their home. "You can't come barging in here, banging on our door and giving your boss orders." Vic opened her mouth to speak but Andy stuck her hand up "Hughes, I know that you didn't know that they had died that way. Or died at all, but you cannot just come here and start screaming in his face. He's going through enough."

"But Andy. I just wanted to get clarification on why Sullivan didn't want us to continue the fire inspections." Hughes tried to defend her actions.

"Hughes. You're missing a lot of the details and right now that's only between me and him. I need you to understand that the inspections are going to be taken care of." Andy said, trying to get Hughes to back off.

"Andy," Hughes paused. "How are you doing?"

Andy sighs "Not good, but Robert is helping. Him being around is the only thing grounding me and I need him by me right now. I don't need this right now Hughes."

"Well, considering when he asked me and Trav to take over the report we assumed he just wanted to spend time with his wife. We-"

"Vic he gave you the overtime work because I'm going through my dad's belongings right now," Andy said, rubbing her forehead. "I'm kind of a mess going through them right now and Robert can't be in the house helping me keep calm if you and Travis keep pulling him away. So, please, just lay off Robert please. The inspections you were handed were for warehouses, right?" Hughes nods. "I'll talk to Dixon about it tomorrow," Andy told Vic.

"No, no. Stay here with Robert. I was just so confused by his behaviour. I wasn't-"

"Vic, just get Travis up to speed, okay? And don't worry about Sullivan. I'll talk to him." Andy said, cutting off Vic.

"Andy, do you need anything? Anything at all?" Vic asked Andy, noting that she wasn't wearing any makeup and that she had bags under her eyes.

Herrera combed her hand through her hair. "I'm okay. I have everything I need right now." Andy pauses to look at Vic "Thank you for offering though."

"If you change your mind I'm just a text away," Vic tells her, rubbing Andy's arm.

Andy just nods "Thanks. I better get back in. Try to clean up the mess I've been making in the apartment." Vic nods and turns to walk away. Andy watches and just as she was about to close the door she saw Vic turn back around.

"Andy, please tell Robert I'm sorry. I never should have said what I did."

"Okay. I will. Have a good rest of your day, Vic." Andy said with a small, forced, smile as she walked back into the apartment.

"Robert?" Andy called out when she didn't see him in the kitchen or living room.

"I'm in our room, I'll be down in a minute, Andy." Andy decided to ignore him and made her way up the stairs two at a time. She saw that he was just coming out of the bathroom in their bedroom and when he looked up she just walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him. She felt him wrap his arms around her shoulder, pulling her closer.

Robert sighed into the hug and rested his head on her shoulder glad that his wife knew him well enough that he didn't need to talk, just needed comfort. After a few minutes, she pulled away and lead him to the bed and encouraged him to get under the covers with her. Robert takes off his t-shirt and pants, leaving him in just his boxers. Andy just smiles, never getting tired of looking at her husband's body. Andy takes off her own shirt but stays in the PJ shorts she had changed into while Robert was getting into bed. Andy joins Robert under the covers and immediately curled up to Robert, resting her head on his chest while he had his arm wrapped around her, holding her close. Andy planted a kiss on his chest before moving to kiss his lips.

"I love you, Robert," Andy said after the kiss.

"I love you too. Andy." Robert pulled her in for another kiss and kissed her forehead as she settled back on his chest. All Robert could think about was how lucky he got with Andy. Some people are lucky enough to get one big love in their life, while others don't find one at all but he was lucky enough to find two. He listened to Andy's calm, even breathing, a telling sign that while he was lost in his head, she had fallen asleep. After listening to her breathing for a few minutes he let his mind shut off and let sleep overcome him.

So, off-topic, I'm kinda annoyed with the lack of Andy-centred stories. Why is everyone writing about Marina all the time? This might make me unpopular but Maya was literally horrible to Carina and then Carina only took her back when she found out Maya wasn't gonna try to get her captaincy back. Like that isn't healthy. I don't know how more people aren't seeing that. But seriously, I want more Andy-centred stories cuz right now I just keep re-reading the same stories :(

Anyways though, back to this story. After this chapter, I can't think of any other scenes that I could have Andy standing up for Robert unless I make some scenes up, but I don't know if I'd want to do that since I have so many other story idea's that I want to write in a new story.
