Coal leaned against the wall of the bullhead as it flew toward Beacon Academy. He attempted to keep reading his book about poetry but the chatter of nearby students-to-be kept him from focusing so he gave up and put his book back in his coat pocket.

He give a quick glance around the bullhead and saw a holo-screen with the news on. He stopped leaning against the wall and adjusted his hat before making his way toward the screen to see what was going on in vale these days.

On his way over he overheard several conversations but only one stood out. A girl with long yellow hair appeared to be hugging the life out of a shorter more petite girl with raven colored hair with red tips. Coal ignored it before moving closer to the screen that now depicted a faunus rally before it changed to the image of a woman who then started talking about a man named Roman Torchwick who was involved with a series of dust robberies

"Ehn...Not bad" Coal whispered to himself before the screen changed into a 3-D holographic model of a women who...if Coal was not mistaken was the deputy-headmistress Glynda Goodwitch.

As this happened the two girls from earlier walked up beside him and more people crowded around the hologram causing the shorter girl to bump into Coal causing him to jump a bit and his hat to fall of his head and land at her feet revealing his snow white hair and wolf ears

"Oops...Sorry about that" The shorter girl said nervously in a soft kind tone as she turned to Coal to reveal beautiful silver eyes as she leaned down to pick up his hat and offer it to him

"Its fine...no need to worry about it" Coal said with a southern drawl as he took the hat from her and placed it back on his head.

The ship landed and the doors opened as people flooded out onto school grounds. "Well, I guess I'll see you around" the silver eyed girl said as she walked off to catch up to the taller yellow haired girl.

"Yeah...see ya" He said offhandedly to himself as the girl had already left. Coal then started to walk off the ship and wander onto the grounds as he took in the sites

BOOM!!!

A couple of minutes later a loud explosion rang out as Coal was taking in the sites of the admittedly beautiful courtyard.

He looked and saw dust in the distance and quickly made his way over only to see a girl with white hair in a ponytail...a Schnee if he was not mistaken argueing with the silver eyed girl from earlier.

"Hey, I said I was sorry, princess" The girl said finally fed up with the other girl berating her.

A calm voice suddenly rang out from right beside Coal "Weiss Schnee, Heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world".

Weiss smiled smugly before saying "Finally some recognition". As she was saying this coal looked down and saw a bottle of dust at his feet so he leaned down and picked it up

Coal looked back up at Weiss and scowled before saying "Well...if I ain't mistaken, the Schnee dust company makes quite a bit of its money from shady business deals and questionable labor tactics...especially toward faunus" He then held out the small bottle of dust toward the spoiled brat he saw before him as he kept scowling

"Wha-how dare- the nerve of...Ugh!" She walked foward before ripping the dust bottle from Coal's grasp before walking off.

Both Coal and the silver eyed girl turned toward the stranger who had spoken before Coal.

Coal looked over the girl and immediately found her absolutely gorgeous with long raven hair and beautiful amber eyes. Meanwhile the silver eyed girl tried thanking her but the amber eyed girl just walked off. The silver eyed girl sighed before falling back into the crater the earlier explosion had left.

Coal walked up to her and said "Well...today just don't seem to be your day...huh darlin" before holding his hand out for her to take "let me give you a hand there" He joked. The girl looked up at him and eyes of silver met eyes of gold before she took his hand and Coal pulled her to her feet. "Thank you...my name is Ruby...Ruby Rose" she said as she released her grip on his gloved hand.

"My name is Coal Everglade...nice to meet you miss" Coal tipped his hat as they kind of just stood awkwardly for a few moments before they heard someone clearing their throat. They turned to see a guy in armor and a hoodie and blue jeans with short blonde hair looking at them before he awkwardly waved and said "Hi...I'm Jaune"

"Hey aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship" Ruby said as Coal raised an eyebrow in question

(SHORT TIME SKIP DUE TO PLOT)

Coal was walking and reading a map of beacon behind Ruby and Jaune as they were hopelessly lost.

"All I'm saying is that motion sickness is much more of a common problem then people let on" Jaune loudly exclaimed.

Ruby softly chuckled before saying "Look, I'm sorry...vomit boy was the first thing to come to mind"

Coal looks up from the map to say "Yeah not the best nickname Ruby." Then he looks back down at the map keeping track of where they are and the time.

Jaune responded to Ruby with "Oh yeah, and what if I called you crater face" "

Hey, that explosion was an accident...ask Coal...he was there" Ruby exclaimed before pointing at Coal.

Coal looked up from the map. "Now I only got there after the explosion so I have no idea what caused it beyond dust" Coal said before looking down at his map again "Well, the names Jaune Arc. Its short, sweet, rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it" Jaune cut in.

Ruby skeptically said "Do they" as Coal gave off a short chuckle. "Well...they will. I hope they will. My mom always said...nevermind" Jaune awkwardly said. Ruby giggled before an awkward silence fell and Coal said "Look partner...rule two of life is, don't take dating advice from your Ma or your Pa unless you have physical proof that it will work"

"So...I got this thing" Ruby said before taking a box off her back and said box shifted into a massive mechanical scythe and she spun it once before stabbing it into the ground. Coal gave off an appraising whistle as Jaune jumped and pointed at it and said "Woah!...Is that a scythe"

"Its also a customizable High-Impact sniper rifle" Ruby said cheerfully as Jaune looked confused and Coal looked impressed. "A-Wha...?" Jaune said still confused before Coal answered "Its a gun...and a damn fine one at that" He said as he tipped his hat and Ruby softly blushed at the praise before saying "So what do you guys have?"

Coal put the map in the pocket of his long coat and smirked before reaching down and grabbing his two sixshot revolvers out of their holsters with one white with yellow accents and the other black with purple accents and both had red-dot attachments on the side of the barrels. "This is Dawn" he said as he spun the white one "And this is Dusk" He spun the black one "And when you put them together" He put them beside each other and they mecha-shifted into a revolver rifle with two barrels and a holo-sight. "The top barrel shoots either regular rounds or dust infused rounds and the bottom barrel shoots shotgun rounds or dust infused shotgun rounds...I also have a sword I got in mistral" He shifted his guns back before placing them back in their holsters attached to his belt before he reached behind his shoulder and pulled a katana out of a sheath attached to his back. "This is Gurimusureiyā or Grimm-Slayer in english...I forged her in Mistral when I was visiting for some buisness." He said before placing back in its sheath.

As he said all this Ruby was visibly geeking out "Can I have a closer look at those guns again" She said excitedly. "Maybe later...Anyway what do you have Jaune" Coal said.

Jaune pulled a sword out of a sheath before shifting said sheath into a shield. "I got this sword and this shield...I didn't make them like you guys made your weapons but they have been passed down in my family for a couple of generations now"

Ruby said "Well...I like it...not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days" Jaune smiled "Yeah...the classics" He replied.

Coal then takes his map back out and quickly finds where they are before "Have you had that the whole time" He looks back up from the map to see both Ruby and Jaune looking at him.

"Yeeeaaahhh..." He slowly drawls. "Well do you know where we are supposed to be going" Ruby asks "Yeah hold on...let me find it...ok follow me" He walks ahead of Ruby and Jaune as they follow him toward wherever they were supposed to be going

(...well thats the first chapter of my very first story out of the way, and I already have big plans for Coal Everglade (if you could not tell I went with a western cowboy theme for him)...incuding a harem...which will include...Blake, Ruby, Penny, Neo, Fiona Thyme (cause she is adorable) and maybe Emerald (I think the order I put them should give you an idea of how long this is gonna take and how it's gonna go) Anyway since it may take a bit for the next chapter and it will definitally take a while for Coal's backstory to be revealed...like it'll start at the end of volume 1 anyway...have a nice day and all that...later I guess)
