Marinette hummed to herself as she swept the bakery floor. She liked sweeping and she always practiced her dance steps with it, for if she made a mistake, no one would laugh at her! She was just twirling around the broom when her father came out of the back room. "Has the mail come yet, sweetie? I'm expecting some packages." Marinette dropped her broom with a small squeak. "No, not yet."
Father sighed and pushed the door to the backroom, disappearing. Cat strolled through the door, a happy grin on his face. "Hey, Princess. Whatcha doing?" "Um…." Marinette flushed as Cat picked up her broom from the floor and grinned. "Never mind. I can guess."
Before she could say anything, the postman walked through the door. "Package for Tom Dupain?" "I'll sign," Marinette said, cheerfully and then took the box. "Oof, what's in here? Papa, your package is here!"
"Goody!" Tom hurried out from the backroom. "I ordered some clothes for Cat and I." "How about Cat models the clothes for you? You know I need the practice," Marinette said. "Okay, sweetie. Have fun!"
Marinette closed the box quickly. She could already tell the clothes were hideous. And her father wanted to wear them in public? If anyone could pull this off, it was Cat. Besides, she needed time to convince her father that the clothes were embarrassing.
"Right, let's check these out," Marinette said, when they were in her room. Cat pulled out a red-black spotted suit and Marinette thought she would die with embarrassment. "Its a ladybug suit!" Cat snatched out of box, eager to try it on. "There is no way I'm letting my father wear that," Marinette said firmly. "Mama maybe, but Papa defiently not!"
Cat leaped out from behind the screen. "Do you think I could pass as Ladybug?" he asked, striking what he thought was a heroic pose. Marinette burst into giggles. "I think they'd be able to tell the difference, but I like the pose!"
Marinette pulled out the next item and was surprised to find even she would wear a shirt that said, "This is my jam" with a picture of a strawberry gracing the front of the shirt. "Aw, that looks cute, Kitty!" Cat grinned bashfully.
But the last one was hideous, there was no way around it. It was a long-sleeved shirt a bright green color with avocados on it. "I'm not sure if this is my style!" Cat said, as he sashayed over to the mirror. "Let's take some pictures anyway."
Marinette clicked away as Cat posed in the outfits. "I don't know if I'll regret this, but okay." Marinette said, she aimed her camera at Cat.
"Marinette, Cat, supper's ready!" Mama Cheng startled them. Cat fell off the chair, tangled up in the jam shirt, tail over his head. Mama smiled gently. "Just come down when your ready."
Cat sat up, grinning. "Well, that was gacward!" Marinette groaned, then giggled. She loved doing anything with her partner, even if it meant trying on hideous clothes!
