In the morning, Hiccup took a basket of fish from the storage shed with the prosthetic fin.
He arrives at the cove and says "Toothless? I got you a variety of fish including a smoke eel."
Toothless hiss backing away while roaring.
Hiccup grabs the eel and toss it away "sorry about that. I'm not a fan of eels either."
Toothless began eating the fish.
Hiccup comments "I'll be back here while you eat."
He lays the prosthetic tail fin next to tail.
Toothless moved his tail away.
Hiccup slid the fin closer.
Toothless shift forward to get his head in the basket.
Hiccup sat on Toothless's tail and buckle the prosthetic tail fin together.
Toothless drop the basket feeling a new tail fin replaced.
Hiccup examine the prosthetic tail fin "it seems like it could work. It's same size."
Toothless spread his wings out and jumped in the air flying around the cove with Hiccup holding on to Toothless's tail.
The prosthetic tail fin closed causing they to fall out of the sky.
Hiccup pulled the prosthetic tail fin back open before they hit the ground and excited says "it works!"
Toothless turned his head back to see Hiccup on his tail and fling him off into the lake below.
Then his prosthetic tail fin closed on him and crashed into the lake.
Hiccup jumped out of lake shouting "WOOHOO!"
Toothless huffs in ignorance of the boy's antics.
Hiccup takes the eel for weapon against dragons today in dragon training.
An hour later in the dragon arena.
Hiccup paired up with Fishlegs.
Astrid and Ruffnut paired up.
Snotlout and Tuffnut paired up.
Gobber tells them "today, you'll be facing the Hideous Zippleback. Now the Hideous Zippleback is extra tricky. One head spray gas. The other head lights it. Your job is to know which is which."
Hiccup tells Gobber "wait before you unlock it."
Gobber ask "why?"
Hiccup answers "we should study where the pairs are because this arena would be gulf in gas and know where each other is at."
Snotlout comments "just unlock the door and forget about useless."
Gobber unlock the door, releasing the Hideous Zippleback.
The arena was engulfed with green gas.
Snotlout comments "if that dragon shows it's face we can take it."
The Hideous Zippleback hiss in the green gas.
Snotlout sees a black figure and points "there" throw their pale of water at the figure.
Tuffnut threw his pale of water at the shadow figure.
Ruffnut complains "it's us idiot."
Tuffnut comments "it's just you? Your butt is getting bigger."
Snotlout comments "we thought you were a dragon. Not that there's anything wrong with a dragon figure like you."
Ruffnut threw her pale of water at Tuffnut.
Astrid threw the pale at Snotlout hitting him in the head knocking him over.
The Hideous Zippleback scared them to run out of the gas to the sideline.
Fishlegs comments "chances just dropped to single digits."
Hiccup whispers "will you shut up."
The Hideous Zippleback reveal it's head.
Fishlegs panics and dumped the pale of water into one of the heads.
The other head hiss and sparked filled it's mouth.
Fishlegs comments "wrong head."
The gas head blast Fishlegs with a stream of gas knocking him over.
Fishlegs ran away scared.
Hiccup stood facing two heads.
Gobber yells "now, Hiccup!"
Hiccup threw the pale of water up and failed.
He whines "oh, come on."
Gobber panics "HICCUP!"
Hiccup raised his hands "back" "back."
The Hideous Zippleback backup from seeing the dead eel in Hiccup's vest.
Hiccup back the Hideous Zippleback back into it's cage and threw the dead eel inside.
He turned around to see shock faces and says "between me and Snotlout, I have the brains. When I leave this place for good, you all will be stuck with an idiot as future chief because you all insult me and wish me dead.
I no longer want anything to do with any of you."
He walks past them to the gate.
Astrid ask "Hiccup? How did you back that Hideous Zippleback back inside it's cage with your hands?"
Hiccup stops at the gate and scowls "oh, Hiccup the useless caught the eye of the shield maiden with an advantage over dragons and wants to know my secret.
And I say no, because we aren't friends. And furthermore, I don't want to be friends with any of you!"
He walks away, across the bridge to the forge and begins working on a new project.
Astrid sneak around to watch Hiccup build something out of leather with straps.
Afterwards, Astrid figure it was a saddle for an animal.
It was night time when Hiccup finished the saddle for Toothless.
He walked home and wrote in his diary about his day.
In the morning, Hiccup took the saddle and walked to the cove.
Toothless looked at Hiccup.
Hiccup showed him the saddle and Toothless shook his head and ran with Hiccup chasing him.
It was an hour before Toothless let Hiccup put it on him.
Hiccup comments "Toothless? I have to ride on your back in order to control your prosthetic tail fin."
Toothless pouts.
Hiccup scratches his back and touch a spot under his chin to put him to sleep for a few hours.
He returned to arena to join dragon training.
Gobber comments "today, you get a rematch with the Deadly Nadder."
The teens scattered around hiding behind small barricades.
Astrid jump over and ran after the Deadly Nadder.
The Deadly Nadder stopped by Hiccup in a blind spot.
Hiccup seen Astrid coming and scratches her neck before touching the spot under the chin dropping the Deadly Nadder.
The teens stare in shock.
Astrid ask "how did you knock it out?"
Hiccup answers "I'm not telling you anything. You don't deserve it."
He leaves to go pack up his drawings in files.
Once inside the forge, he took down the drawings of Astrid and says "she's old crush, Toothless is the only thing I care about."
