"Can you imagine living under the sea?" Cat asked Marinette, as they curled up on the couch, watching the Little Mermaid. Marinette giggled. "You do know you have aqua powers, right?" "Yeah, but I'm a cat, not a catfish!" Cat grabbed a handful of popcorn while Marinette giggled. "At least your not a codfish," she sang. Cat shuddered. "Ugh, like that crocodile in Peter Pan! I would want to kibble!"
They watched the movie in silence for a few minutes, then Cat piped up again. "What if mermaids were -" "No," Marinette cut him off. Cat pouted. It would be fun to have a mermaid for a friend. Maybe they would even sing to you, and bring you tasty fish! Cat licked his lips. "Mm, fish." He shook his head. He was easy distracted by fish. "Why not?" he crossed his arms, looking at Marinette. "If you exist, then Hawkmoth does too. Just imagineā¦."
It was hard to picture Hawkmoth with fins and a tail, though Cat could picture him with a trident. "Swim away my little butter fish," Marinette joked. Cat's tummy growled. Great, now he wanted fish.
"But Ladybug would-" "But wait, there's more!" "He'd try to lure you and Ladybug with a siren song to get your Miraculous." "Please no." Cat wrapped his paw print blanket around his shoulders and stood up. "Where are you going?" Marinette asked. "To the kitchen, to ask Mama to fry me some fish!"
"Oh, Cat. Just don't be to long!"
Soon, Cat has plate of tasty fish and they resumed watching the movie. Marinette smiled to herself. She may not have the powers of a mermaid, but being an underwater ladybug was almost as good.
