Seeking closure, he returns to the mysterious room of his mother, Rose Quartz, As he vents his frustrations at the nearly vacant space, devoid of other people around him.

Steven reveals the knowledge he gained from the memories.

STEVEN

I learned what gem harvesting is, why the rejuvenator was a failure, and how you created both of those failed practices. I saw the memory where White criticized you for both of those creations being useless and failures in the grand scheme of The Gem Empire. Nothing you ever did was ever good enough for her, you were just the dumb little incompetent jolly child of the group who never did anything right.

Steven explains the rejuvenator's shortcomings.

STEVEN

(explaining)

Well, it mostly failed. The rejuvenator mostly only worked temporarily since information in gems can't be erased, it just gets partitioned away.

Steven talks about gem harvesting and its limitations.

STEVEN

(continuing)

And you figured out it could be moved outside the gem and have its content read and you created gem harvesting, but only the Diamonds had the power to harvest gems into a readable crystal to read any memories they wanted, and the gem would just be permanently incapacitated and incapable until the Diamond reversed the process. Sounds useful but impractical. I don't imagine Yellow, Blue, or even White did it often. A convenient nebulous threat, though.

Steven mentions the limitations of gem harvesting for other gems.

Every other gem couldn't do it to the same degree themselves, except only partially with Your Diamond-enchanted items like the mirror Lapis was in for like 5 millennia. But they would have to trick the half-aware gem into revealing information. And since it kept them conscious even when bubbled, they would reveal whatever they wanted... eventually.
