Sirens wailed from a police car as a team of military cars and Humvees drove across a bridge.
They later arrived near a base as chattering fills the air.
"Are you gonna tell us what's goin' go?" A reporter asked.
"Watch it!" A woman yelled.
They slowly made their way through the crowd approaching the base.
"Let 'em through!" A soldier said. "Move it!"
Horns honks as they enter the military base camp and a pair of Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopters flew by.
MOBILE COMMAND CENTER - NEW JERSEY
One solider with an umbrella rushed over to them.
"Sergeant O'Neal, sir!" O'Neal saluted.
"Any word from the mayor's office?" Hicks asked.
"Yes, sir." O'Neal said. "They've agreed to evacuate the city. They've called the National Guard."
"Wait. Evacuate Manhattan?" Elise said. "That's over 3 million people. Has that ever been done before?"
"I don't think so." Nick said.
"Where is he now?" Hicks asked.
"We, uh, we lost sight of it, sir." O'Neal reported.
"You want to run that by me again?" Hicks questioned almost mishearing him.
"Uh, a-after its initial a-attack, he, uh, disappeared." O'Neal stuttered a bit explaining.
"What?" Chris said stunned.
"Secretary of Defense Burk is on the line." A solider said.
Hicks then walks off.
"I don't understand." Nick said confused. "How could something so big just disappear?"
"W-W-We're not sure, but we're scanning the area now." O'Neal said.
"Yeah, yeah. He probably returned to the river." Elise said.
"Maybe he's still heading north." Chris said though a little unsure.
"Well I don't think so." Nick said. "I mean, look at it." He looks at Manhattan. "It's perfect. An island, water on all sides. But like no other island in the world, this is a place where he can easily hide."
"I think you have a point." Chris said. "Those could give good cover for him to hunker down."
"He's in there someplace." Nick said.
"Channel 12 caught it on tape." A solider said.
"Quiet down, people." A man said. "Listen up."
"I'm Charles Caiman in the WDF News Center." Caiman reported as they gathered. "Ladies and gentlemen, we New Yorkers like to think we've seen it all, but what you're going to see right now will shock you beyond belief. This is, uh, footage we have that indicates that there is a dinosaur loose in Manhattan. WIDF's exclusive footage was shot barely a half hour ago."
The screen then shows the fizzy footage of the colossal monster reptile roaring as Nick, the Wild Kratts and everyone else was completely shocked.
"That's not a dinosaur, that's a monster." Martin said not believing he was seeing.
"WIDF cameraman,-"
"-Victor "Animal" Palotti, survived."
The news floor cheered and whistled out for Animal's encounter.
"You are so brave." A woman said.
"Great stuff, Animal." Audrey said. "Were you scared?"
"Yeah, thought Lucy was gonna kill me." Animal said and then Lucy smacked his head. "Ow!"
"Damn right, you crazy wop!" Lucy glared. "What were you thinking?"
"Okay, people!" A man called out. "We have to be completely relocated to the New Jersey station for the 10:00 broadcast." He turns to Animal. "Animal! You're riding in the chopper with Caiman. Now. Let's go. Lift off. Come on, everybody! Let's go. We're outta here!"
"Um, you gonna be all right?" Animal asked.
"Yeah, Audrey's gonna spend the night with us." Lucy said.
"Cool." Animal said. "A threesome. That's excellent. I'm a little tired."
Lucy then shoves him off.
"Dozens of people are reported killed. Thousands of others injured."
Audrey saw the TV and saw Nick at the base.
"Civil defense stations are being set up throughout the island of Manhattan, but, in addition, city, military and health officials are setting up a command post on the Jersey shore in anticipation of an evacuation-"
Audrey then came in thought of something.
"My bag. My bag!" Caiman said walking by.
"Oh!" Audrey said grabbing it. "Mr. Caiman? Mr. Caiman, wait!" She quickly caught up to him. "Mr. Caiman, I've got a lead. I know a guy who's on the inside with the military."
"Not now." Caiman said.
"You don't understand." Audrey said. "I can get us some great inside information." Caiman arrived to an elevator.
"Look, this is the moment when the big boys got to work, okay, honey?" Caiman said. "Bag."
Audrey then annoyingly threw the bag to Caiman as he caught it and pushed a button. The elevator bell dings as Audrey held Caiman's ID tag as the doors closed.
Military helicopters begin to fly over New York as a lightning bolt strikes the antenna of the One World Trade Center.
In the city, people begin to leave as Lucy and Audrey were among them.
"This way." Lucy said. "Come on. Come on. Let's go."
"Wait up." Audrey said.
"Come on!" Lucy said.
Reporters load a few cases in a van.
"Wait up!" Audrey said as they hurried through the crowded street.
"Let me through!" A man in his car yelled.
"Can we get a cab?" Audrey asked.
"Audrey, what are you thinking?" Lucy said.
Close by, police in armored suits climbed out of a truck.
"Let's move! Move! Move!" One said.
"Remain calm." A man called out through a bullhorn.
Lucy and Audrey quickly rushed by them.
"Come on, Audrey!" Lucy cried. "Audrey, come on."
They begin to head down to a subway station as a helicopter was heard whirring overhead.
"Audrey!" Lucy yelled.
Above them, a news helicopter flew by as Animal and Caiman were in it.
"In what city officials are describing as the worst act of destruction since the World Trade Center bombing, and 9/11 attack,-"
The helicopter flies over the crowded streets.
"-hundreds of thousands of people have jammed the streets, in the largest evacuation in this city's history."
Below, many people hurried to leave while paramedics and firefighters worked to help those who were injured.
"Many people - Many, many people are not happy about it. Among those unhappy citizens are the managers of the stores along pricey Fifth and Madison Avenues. The Warner Brothers and Disney stores have been totally cleared out by looters."
People hurried through the streets as military men helped escort them out as one building stood with a massive gap left by the creature. And a team of Apache helicopters hover near it.
"The streets are jammed. Traffic is at a standstill. Emergency vehicles cannot have access to any emergency that may develop."
On one of the many bridges leading outside Manhattan, a heavy traffic slowly head across as a helicopter flew by.
"And there is a slow but steady stream out of the city as if Long Island or New Jersey were any refuge in this time of crisis."
In the helicopter, Ebert and his assistant watched the traffic leaving the city.
"Aw, this is great!" Ebert complained while eating some Hersey Kisses. "I'm wrong on this evacuation, they'll string me up from the Liberty torch."
"Didn't we agree that we weren't gonna have any sweets until after the election?" His assistant reminded.
He then reaches to take the bag, but Ebert stopped him.
"Back off, Gene." Ebert warned.
Gene lets go of the bag holding his hands out surrendering realizing he was stress-eating.
Soon, their helicopter begins to descend as it's landing gear comes down and a crowd stood by the landing pad with military men. And the helicopter soon lands as tires screeched, and two military men which over and opened the door.
"Who the hell are they?" Ebert asked as they stepped out of the helicopter.
"Building owners and business representatives from the community." Gene said.
"I don't have time for this nonsense." Ebert said.
"Campaign contributors!" Gene said.
"Oh." Ebert said as they went up to the crowd. "Uh, ladies and gentlemen, I share your concerns. I wanna get this city back in business as soon as possible. Please."
Ebert may his through the crowd as then Roache appeared.
"La Rochelle Insurance." Roache said with a hand on Ebert's shoulder. "We represent nearly 13% of the buildings in your city." He secretly placed a speaker on his coat. "You can count on our emotional and financial support."
"Well, thank you." Ebert said. "Thank you." He then walks off along with Gene.
"Mayor Ebert, what do you plan to do?" A man asked.
Ebert heads off turning to him one last time as the crowd clamored and Roache walks off.
Elsewhere in Jersey, a news van nears a military base camp, and soon Caiman steps out and made his way over.
"Hey, stay back." A man said.
"Comin' through." Caiman said.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where's your I.D.?" A guard asked stopping him.
"What's the matter?" Caiman inquired. "Don't you watch TV?"
"Gotta have press I.D." The guard said.
"I've got I.D. I had a badge on my bag here." Caiman said trying to find it.
In a subway car, Audrey held Caiman's badge and a photo of herself.
"I don't know if this is a very good idea, Luce." Audrey said having doubts.
"What are you takin' about? You stole it." Lucy said. "Finally you got a little chutzpah. Don't wimp out on me."
"What if Caiman finds out?" Audrey asked.
"Look." Lucy said. "How often do you think you're gonna have an ex-boyfriend on the inside of a major story? This is a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity. If I could just stick this thing - You got any glue or something?"
I'm sorry." Audrey said. "I have my forgery kit back at the office."
Back in New Jersey, one of Roache's men approaches a delivery truck with some items from a donut place as a horn honked. He enters inside and closed the door, and slides open a door to the back as chattering was heard over a speaker as he sighed closing the door.
"Ah! Cafe." One said grabbing his things. "Ah, ben dis donc, il est temps."
"Je creve la dalle, moi." Another said.
"Ah! Ha, ha." Roache beamed grabbing his bag.
He reached into his bag and pulled out a glazed donut as he frowned.
"No croissant?" Roache frowned.
"No monsieur." His co-worker said.
Roache then took a sip of his coffee and then cringed and groaned. "You call this coffee?"
"I call this America." The co-worker said.
"Hmph." Roache frowned.
He then works on the speakers as he listened through the speaker he placed on Ebert's collar.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Mayor, but that's where we are at this point." Hicks said as Roache adjusted the volume.
"Hold on." Ebert said. "Hold on. You're-"
"-telling me that in an election month, I've evacuated this entire city for nothing?" Ebert said in disbelief. "Do you realize what this evacuation is gonna cost the people of this city?"
"We have been monitoring all the waters around the island, and as far as we can tell, this thing has not left the area." Hicks said as O'Neal appeared and saluted.
"Yes, but you don't know for sure." Ebert protested.
"We have a strong reason to believe it may be hiding in one of the buildings within the restricted area." Hicks said.
"But you don't know for sure!" Ebert said.
"Mr. Mayor." Hick said standing up keeping his patience. "We cannot give the all clear until each and every one of these buildings has been checked." O'Neal stepped closer and saluted. "What is it?"
"Excuse me, sir." O'Neal said. "That may be more d-difficult than we originally projected."
"Oh, terrific." Ebert sarcastically said. "Terrific! More good news."
"We've run i-into a problem." O'Neal reported.
"Do you believe this?" Ebert said to Gene.
"I don't... I don't what's going on." Gene said.
"You never know what's going on." Ebert said.
"Thank you." Gene said.
Over Manhattan, a team of Apache helicopters flew overhead.
A Humvee parks by a subway entrance as they stepped out.
"Right here, sir." O'Neal said.
"Have them fall in." Hicks said heading down.
"Let's go, people." O'Neal said. "Fall in, downstairs."
Nick, Elise, Craven and the Wild Kratts followed them downstairs to 23rd Street Station.
They followed O'Neal downstairs as they got to a large cavern and tunnel where a subway station should be.
"Whoa." Martin said stunned.
Below, military people looked around the tunnel
"What happened here?" Chris asked.
"Lieutenant Anderson and his men found this this afternoon." O'Neal explained.
The soldiers in the tunnel looked around the damaged tunnel as it looked as the creature has dug it's way through.
"We were checking the office building above when we discovered the floor was gone." A Chinese-American soldier said.
They looked up seeing the entrance of the tunnel above through the building.
"When we discovered that he could burrow his way through the tunnels, we realized that - We realized he could be outside the quarantine zone." O'Neal said fearing the worse-case scenario.
"Meaning he could be anywhere by now if he hasn't left Manhattan." Aviva said.
"Holy Christ." Hicks said. "How many tunnels lead off the island?"
"Only 14, sir." O'Neal said. "We checked them all. He wasn't used any of them."
"Have them all sealed up." Hicks ordered.
"Yes, sir." O'Neal said and heads off but then froze. "How? H-H-H-How would we do that, sir?"
"You fill 'em with cement." Hicks said. "You brick 'em up. Put landmines in 'em. Bombs! I don't care! Make sure the damn thing doesn't leave the island!"
"Yes, sir!" O'Neal saluted and leaves.
The military soldiers continued patrolling the tunnel as a strange sound echoes through.
"Hmm." Martin pounder bringing out his CreaturePod and showed a holographic screen of the creature's image from the footage Animal got. "This animal sure does have powerful arms."
"Yeah, and those claws also have some seriously digging power." Chris said. "Many reptiles and lizards are good diggers and some spend much of their time underground."
"But why would it make a 7,296 mile journey to here?" Aviva wondered.
"Not sure." Martin said.
"You know, he's not some enemy trying to evade you." Nick said to Hicks as he turns to him. "He's just an animal."
"You do have a point, Nick." Chris said. "Every animal behaves like any other just to survive."
"Well, what are you suggesting?" Hicks questioned.
"Well, when I had to catch Earthworms, I knew the best way to get them was not to dig them out but to draw them out." Nick explained. "All we need to do is find out what he needs, and he'll come to you."
"Question is... How though?" Koki wondered.
"Maybe with something he can eat?" Jimmy suggested.
"That could work." Chris said. "But what does he eat?"
"Hmm." Martin pondered.
One soldier wanders through the tunnel and fluttering was heard as his light shines on a few fish flopping.
Giving them a clue that the creature eats fish, and an idea for a plan.
Author's Note:
Next comes the big reveal.
Oh, if you listen carefully in the scene of Lucy and Audrey in the subway, you can hear the song from the start of the film's end credits.
